Its really sad that mobile manufacturers don't give very useful functions like this, flashlight, etc., even on many/most mid and higher end phones. Still cannot find any phones with this functionality. Checked out a dummy Nokia 5030 but didn't like the looks too much and keyboard was flat, so it may not be so good for texting (or is it?) Also, still no idea if it allows timed SMSes.

Are you sure the speeds are not low due to line conditions? Thats the issue I'm facing here... and its been over 25 days since I'v been complaining. They aren't even bothered to even call and ask.

Thanks a lot. Will check it out. The FM part would be useless for me though. Does it have the ability to send timed/post dated SMSes? Does anybody know ANY other phones that have this function? Even mid range phones would do.

^^^But difference is that BSNL will never give you any special plan. They don't give 2 hoots whether you stay or leave their network. Retention plans/special plans are not in their dictionary... at least I have never heard and can't imagine.

Very cool, but unless one can keep both numbers on at the same time, it will be of limited use. Can't afford to loose calls on one number while other is active. Guess that wont be possible with this technique.

Not seen that site, but nothing surprising at all. The entire legal system is now heavily pro-female. We are now 2nd class citizens, unbeknown to many males. Well, they did that to me once (activated some service without my consent) but they refunded the money without any fuss. Airtel did that to me SEVERAL times and NEVER refunded a penny. Would prefer RCom over Airtel anyday... but only if the network improves. Right now, the network is worse than even Airtel. RGSM has displaced Airtel from that position. Virgin GSM uses Docomo network, so wrt network, it should be the same.

Nodal Officer? Does the post even exist? I tried calling the number many times, nobody answers it. Emails are never replied to. Ditto for the Appellate Authority. In this respect RCom since to have copied Airtel. They seem to be just dummy posts show that they are complying with regulations. And no, forget about any improvement - the network, esp. at my residence is almost unusable! All the Service Assurance cell is doing every few days is sending me replies that problem has been resolved. I send a retort right back, they register complaint again or reopen the same one, and after few days send the same reply. My patience is reaching its limit. I will be forced to stop using R GSM soon. But for the tariffs, I would have changed long ago. How is the Docomo network in Poona? How does the voice clarity compare with Idea?

Fighting individual bills like this is not the solution. The people who even propose such things and waste our time should be held squarely accountable. And in this case, the PM himself.

IMO, service provider can easily provide this info along with account balance, if they want to. And they should, if they come out with schemes like this. But practically speaking, 500 SMS/day is a huge allowance for most people. So most (like me) need not/would not bother to even check.

I complained about this a few times, and now it seems the situation has improved to an extent. It still may not connect (*333) the 1st time itself, as it does with most other operators, but its better than before. Earlier it was just impossible, no matter how many times you redial. Numbers for on screen display for balance are also working most of the time... unlike before. But the MAIN issue of voice clarity remains and poor coverage remains!

I'd say its a personal decision of the giver. But I feel what is more important is that only those who genuinely require an item and are definitely going to use it, should ask for it; and not just hoard it as its being given as a freebee. The idea after all is to let things that are not being used by the original owner reach people who need the stuff. But I guess its not easy for the giver to verify the genuineness of the person asking....

^^^ Opera seemd to work fine with the HDFC site at least. But the latest version of Opera has left me fuming. Many sites are simply not loading and they have made unacceptable changes to the UI. Opera was my fav browser, even since I started computing.... but the current version only makes me fume at Opera. Don't even feel like looking at it. Have switched to Chrome for now. Anybody else having the same issues?

I wonder if there is some reason why the biggies (except Samsung... which anyways has v limited options) are not coming out with dual/tri SIM phones. I'd really like to buy one, as its really inconvenient to carry 2 phones. But not ready to risk buying rebranded Chinese stuff.

Even me facing issues. My issue is due to line or hardware. 198 says complaint has been registered since 26 March. Even called the officer in charge of the area. No response yet. Emailed the Nodal officer yesterday morning. Still no response till date.

Ohhhhhh ok! Which ones do you have? AGP 4x or higher (if backward compatible, which it should be) is what should fit the Mobo that I have in mind.

Which post? Do you mean on Rimweb.in or ebay.in? About your friend's purchase - does the hologram pass all the tests mentioned by nokia? Can you see the 1, 2, 3 and 4 dashes when viewd from the four directions and the handshake plus logo, etc? And where did he verify the serial number? The service is not working on the Nokia site. I even contacted Nokia about it, and they say it will no longer be possible to verify serial numbers, so holograms will be the only way. Furthermore, they asked me to buy only from Priority Dealers, to ensure genuine stuff. Not an option of course, given the significantly higher prices. I'd prefer to replace the phone, rather than the battery, in that case. By OEM batteries do you mean they are genuine Nokia batteries? Does that mean BL-5C has different variants? Btw, I'm very disappointed with Nokias. Even the batts give up so soon. 2 Moto batteries which are equally old have seen hardly any degradation in performance, and the Nokia is on the verge of needing replacement. Heck, even my old LG RD2030 battery is STILL better than the Nokia! As for using duplicate batts, I never use such stuff unless there is a very compelling reason to do so. But heck, given the quality/durability of original Nokia stuff, I won't be surprised if even some of the duplicate stuff is better than Nokia.
