  1. Why not the veteran RD 2030? One of the most reliable phones ever.
  2. Save Paper Save Tree

So true! That took me down memory lane by making me reminisce how many absolutely wasted trips I'd made. And the people had absolutely no qualms about the impact this would make...
  3. Bsnl Should do away with Telecom Circles - what say?

Same here... its now used almost only for BB and incoming calls for my parents... who don't want to let the number go as its very old. My RGSM has almost replaced it for outgoing calls... but I have to fall back on it when RGSM network gets almost unusable. Too bad BSNL does not seem to be interested even in retaining its business. They can't take much undue advantage of me as I'd just shift to the most competitive provider.
  4. Very good question! I recently needed couple of bills (duplicate) for a refund issue. The BSNL Pune specific website used to archive old bills in PDF format. When I went on the site I got the message that the site is no more and displayed a link to a new URL. The new website seems to have less functionality than the old one... and no bill archive exists anymore. Long story after that... wasted lot of time and calls... but finally got the Nodal officer to get the accounts officer to mail me the duplicate hardcopy bills. They told me that softcopy bills are not available anymore. Also, the bills mailed to me are on plain paper (and different format)... so do not look remotely like the original bills. www.bsnl.co.in has no facility to view/pay bills of Poona customers. My bills don't have a unique ID either. BSNL sux... instead of providing more facilities, they go and remove the ones previously available.
  5. I've checked my speed many a times when i was using 512kbps i was getting speed above 540 kbps(on utorrent i get average 135Kilo bytes per sec almost 1 mbps). also in terms of service Airtel never gives service infact you have to take the service. there customer care are even dumb. Like for me they give me service even at 11:00 at night where as for my sister's BB connection they don't attend call even for 2-3 days. in MTNL i took two connection one day i faced some problem so I called the technician he played with the line for 4-5 hours and then he says that sorry sir i forgot the connections but for MTNL IPTV i am getting hyper service. if i donot use TV for 3 days either they call me or send a person at my home to check if I am facing any problem. And this time Bharti is upgrading all it's customers to 2mbps line for the period of 12th march 2010 to 25th April 2010 uTorrent should not be used for estimating bandwidth speed... cus of the way it reports...

Whats the use of all this when their tariffs are so high? They are still charging 1 - 1.2 /min. to call a local mobile! Totally uncompetitive... Also, in all these years we have been their customers, and paid hefty bills, they have given ZERO offers/freebies or anything else.
  7. Pretty cool! And I'm paying BSNL Rs. 750 + tax for a measly 256 kbps connection (unlimited)! BSNL is grossly overpriced!
  8. Yes! Its already overdue! Their rates seem higher than the competition and they don't offer any free calls either. If they don't reduce the tariff very soon, I'll have to change my ISP...
  9. Well, I remember them saying explicitly that the market leader should be expected to charge premium rates. So its pretty clear that you can expect only premium tariffs... the service of course can remain third grade and swindling is the name of the game. And as long as people keep patronizing them, they will continue charging premium for their low grade services. Enjoy! At least RGSM offers low grade network with low tariffs. Airtel = premium tariffs + low grade services + swindling + etc.
  10. RCom is focusing only on tariffs as their trump card. But whats the use of cheaper tariffs when the network is sub-par? RGSM is so bad right now, my ph is still useless for voice calls... voice clarity is horrible. Even Airtel is better as of now. RGSM is the big flop show of RCom at the moment.
  11. I'v not experienced many call drops till now. However, they did seem more frequent while traveling. But now, since I complained, the signal intensity at my residence has degraded, and am also experiencing call drops. Haven't counted but they are now frequent. Friends have stopped calling me on my RGSM, as they have found it way too irritating... The network has become worse that what Airtel was until sometime ago (they have improved somewhat). The Nodal Officer and Appellate Authority phone numbers are either permanently busy or are not attended to if they ring. No response to emails. I guess just like Airtel, they are dummy positions to show that they are complying with regulations.
  12. Lol... I know! In fact I mentioned exactly that to her... but did not get any response. However, there is one more factor - 900 MHz takes more power to transmit than 1,800 MHz. Anyway, you should come here and see the state of the network. Its pretty clear that the issue is not just about the frequency. Even Airtel uses the same frequency, and as of now Airtel has improved a bit and you can at least talk... but RGSM is in such a state that its almost unusable for voice calls. Even when you are outside where signal shows max, the voice clarity is dismal. RGSM network needs some serious work!
  13. This should actually have been done for Docomo subscribers, they would need it more. Instead they have cleverly done it only for their already established CDMA network. I was at Nokia Care yesterday, and after making a call on my RGSM, the technician told me to try and avoid using Reliance GSM and Docomo.... as there are too many network and even SIM related issues with these companies and that I will get poor voice clarity and reduced battery life with them. They face these complaints from customers of these operators all the time.
  14. How to check Account Balance?

...and don't be surprised if they charge you for this awesome entertainment pack.
  15. Reliance GSM Network in Pune/Vishranthwadi

Since my last complaint to the Service Assurance Cell, phone has become almost unusable for voice calls. The already poor voice clarity has become worse, and whats more, the signal intensity which was usually at max or max minus 1 bar (at my residence), has degraded. Now I often get only 1 to 3 bars. So now not only is the voice clarity worse, calls have started to drop. The Service Assurance Cell had the cheek to send me a mail saying that as per confirmation received from the concerned department, the network issue stands resolved. RGSM has gone to the pigs...
  16. ^^^Where is this mentioned?? I clearly remember that Airtel is one of the operators they support. Though Idea is not mentioned, it too is supported.
  17. Reliance GSM Network in Pune/Vishranthwadi

Whats more, since the issue was fixed after such a long time (6 months), you can't even tell if they did something because of your complaints, or they just fixed it in the normal course of things...
  18. Reliance GSM Network in Pune/Vishranthwadi

Well, there is a definite limit to my patience. If things don't improve, and when there are other options around, I may just ditch them and go elsewhere... There are more interesting things out there than just writing complaints...
  19. Sorry, guess I omitted the "3" while typing. It is 50 paise / 3 min. Corrected it now.
  20. Why is removing him considered enough??In a better world, his actions should be investigated, and he should be made accountable for it.
  21. Why would one do that?? The tariff for on-net CC call is 50 p / 3 min, which is still lower than it would be if you call from a landline... or even from any other mobile, for that matter.
  22. Reliance GSM Network in Pune/Vishranthwadi

After making the latest complaint about voice clarity, it has become even worse, in the last couple of days. To rub salt on it, they just sent me a mail that the issue has been resolved. I obviously mailed back telling them what I thought about it... Texting is working well though. But voice quality on more than half the calls is hopeless. Anybody from Poona experiencing the same issue?
  23. Gosh, Airtel and "polite call centre executives and they have ability to solve customers' probelms than anybody else"??? Nothing further from the truth dude... at least thats been my experience in my circle. Maybe in your cicrcle you connect to some different call center. Airtel showing its ugly face now? It has always been... and its the ugliest of the pack. Only good thing is at least you can get thru to CC on phone... unlike RGSM where it is permanently busy thorough the day.
  24. Save Paper Save Tree

You could be very right, but if in the process of making more money they also save a few tigers (if it genuinely helps), I'd be extremely delighted, to say the least.
