Post Here : News Related To Sealing Of Mobile Towers !
raccoon replied to Himanshu Singh's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I know that CDMA towers can handle more traffic, but the difference cannot be this big... not even close to it! Also, both RCom and Tata now have GSM too... how does one account for that? Or is it that in Ghaziabad, the operators with fewer towers have fewer subscribers? But again I can't imagine the difference will be so big! -

Airtel has 185 towers, and RCom and some other operators have only around 12? What gives? -
I didn't get anything on my RGSM?! But even if I get, I don't think I'll be ready to hunt for shops for such small recharges... They better find a way to make this easier!
-
This is exceedingly irritating - our BSNL landline phone has been dead (no dial tone, however broadband works) since today morning. Now the most awesome thing is that there does not seem to be any way of registering a complaint about it thru a non-BSNL landline!! Just how lame can they get?? Whats more, though my dad tried 198 thru some other landline phone, complaint registration was not successful. And now there is no BSNL landline phone here. They don't seem to have any method of accepting complaints thru email or thru the website. And the numbers of Customer Service Centres given on their website do not work!! What exactly do these sarkari morons expect? That a custome should launch a city wide hunt for a BSNL landline just to register a complaint?? Does anybody from Poona have some frigging idea about how to register a complaint with BSNL if there is no access to a BSNL landline?
-
Did you lodge complaints? Is it just coverage or you have other issues too? At my residence in Kothrud, signal intensity is usually at max.... so problems are/were not coverage related. Maybe I'm near a BTS.
-
Dunno about Calcutta, but in Poona, it seems to be decent now. Definitely not comparable to something like Idea, but considering the whole deal, esp. tafiffs, its ok. Thats true at least for the areas I'v currently taken it to. Maybe my multiple complaints have actually helped.

Bsnl Landline Woes... How To Make Compalint In Pune?
raccoon replied to raccoon's topic in The Lounge
yes very true.. Edit: Automatic fault booking - Chennai - 24310198 - More details Online fault booking for chennai BSNL Customer care All India BSNL Grievance Registration form Thanks, the last 2 options given above seem useful... if it actually works. Will save the links for future use. Can't try it now as the phone is now working. As for the Customer Care centre numbers in the Excel sheet you posted, are not useful as the number given is no longer working. In fact they keep changing the numbers of their officers as a hobby and making our lives difficult. -
Now, Airtel Subscribers Can Call Free!
raccoon replied to Honest's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Ya... Airtel has never given me any freebies in the 2 or so years I have been a very reluctant user of their connections (mobile). Anyway, as for their landlines, very few people must be having them... at least nobody I know has one. If the offer included their mobiles, it would have been far more useful. As for calling 121 for info/assistance, I guess they callers will be milked with the new tolled customer care? -
Bsnl Landline Woes... How To Make Compalint In Pune?
raccoon replied to raccoon's topic in The Lounge
The couple of booths closest to my place are not BSNL phones. Anyway, I got a friend to do it, finally. But the issue is still valid - seems BSNL has no way to register complaints except thru its own landlines! Really lame!! -
Mobile Users May Soon Get To Post Complaints On Trai Website
raccoon replied to Himanshu Singh's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Damn bad idea. But considering the competition in the sector, I guess they are looking at ways to reduce costs. And I'm sure many people misuse the service hogging up their time. But we are gonna be penalized for it even when we have reasons... -

Didn't exactly get that?! You mean I should connect the phone to the modem-out socket of the splitter? That can't help dude! -

Bsnl Landline Woes... How To Make Compalint In Pune?
raccoon replied to raccoon's topic in The Lounge
Well, the call centre number is 1500 here too. Automatic complaint registration is on 198. But these are useless unless you have another working BSNL landline. The other numbers you mentioned are almost certainly not useful for Poona. I wasted several minutes on the 2 BSNL websites and found no way at all to register a complaint from any non BSNL landlines. AFAIK, only 1 neighbor has BSNL landline, and they are out for work. Not many people have landlines these days... and even if they do, they are no necessarily BSNL. I am not ready to grease the linesman with anything other than black automotive grease. Have no idea where to find them either. If they don't fix it they can take their stupid phone and get the heck away with my choicest cuss words. As for what you asked - there is no dial tone on the line, however it is live, in that the line has a voltage. Broad band seems to be working well in spite of that. This has happened before too (ie. phone is "dead" but BB works). However, I am facing some other issues with it... which may (or may not) be due to their modem (Huawei). -
Mobile Users May Soon Get To Post Complaints On Trai Website
raccoon replied to Himanshu Singh's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
No. Seems you can fool around on the IVR... but when you opt to speak to an agent, you get the recorded message that you will be charged, and you can press some number to continue and some other number not to continue. Thats what I experienced with Idea. Dunno about Airtel yet, as I'v stopped using their SIM. -

Gosh... this is bad. I wonder what the statistics are like for Poona. Considering that a lot of towers are required in dense cities, the fee sounds bit steep... -
Mobile Users May Soon Get To Post Complaints On Trai Website
raccoon replied to Himanshu Singh's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Btw, I was going to post about this myself - when I called up Idea CC to ask for some plan clarificaiton, I got a shock when before connecting to an agent, I was told that I will be charge 50p for 3 mins for the call!! But before that I was told if it was a complaint I should disconnect and dial some other number. I got pissed and just disconnected the call. I thought TRAI was still in the process of considering to allow operators to charge for calling customer care. Then how come these $%#$ telcos have started to charge already?? I certainly hope that they are not charging for complaints related calls, at least... -
well it's around 2% for dealers and around 1% for distributors in circles like Delhi so asking for 6% is too high except. also most of the operators are coming up direct online recharge options like Vodafone Idea Airtel(limited denominations only) provide direct gateway to recharge the mobile. if you have HDFC account you can recharge online. and you don't have to pay anything extra. also refund is also instant Have they indeed made all refunds instant instead of refunding after 4 working days? Thats great. HDFC Netbanking is the only online recharge service I'v used till now. In the past, transactions have often failed, and one has to keep track of the refunds.... which was irritating. But even that is better than having to hunt for shops that will do the recharge. Simply don't have time for that. The fact that they don't levy any service charge is the biggest plus.

Mumbai Idea Cellular Intros 1Paisa For 5 Second Plan To Call Mumbai-Maharashtra & Goa
raccoon replied to nayasaroj's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Its high time they come out with something attractive for Mah & Goa subscribers. Their tariffs are no longer competitive... though the network is probably the best. Except for Idea-Idea calls, I'm saving lot of money by using my RGSM for all other outgoing calls and SMS. Their GPRS tariffs are possibly the highest. -
Still getting the msgs... so I guess it should still be valid.
-
This supposed loss of revenue is a very myopic way of looking at things! In that case, we should still be paying Rs. 15 or so per call... which used to be the case around when the mobile revolution in India started. Worse was when BSNL/MTNL were the only options and they actually thrived and profited by milking us dry and providing abysmal service. Govt. is the worst bloat-ware in the land. They should reduce their need for revenue and increase efficiency and SHRINK... instead of looking at things this way and s**k more blood out of us.
-
Is it? The chart I posted says its valid till 31 Jan only. Whats the source?
-
Great, but was it for RGSM? And does Giftmate charge anything extra?
-
Finally got a mail from them which makes sense; with the following chart. Seems the extra TT offer is valid only till the end of this month. Furthermore, I noted that this promo TT can't be used for STD calls. It clearly says offer is valid only for erecharges! What #$%#$ problem do they have to offer it thru Netbanking... gawd knows?! Rs. 120 top up seems most beneficial. RCom does not like us to keep more money with them. I guess ADA dosen't trust himself from pilfering our $, if we did that...

Videocon Gsm Service Launch Next Month
raccoon replied to ::Hitesh::'s topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Yup, Etisalat is now showing up in Poona. Sad that Delhi users won't have the choice we have. But maybe RGSM will improve. It is now not too bad here. There are occasional issues with voice clarity and when sending SMSs, but keeping in mind the tariffs, it is tolerable. Don't know if my complaints helped or it was a coincidence. I'm still nagging them about these and some other issues like congestion at peak hours on some inter-circle calls (esp. Vodaphone), balance checking (*367#, etc), etc. They have sent me questionnaire kinda mails to be filled up, asking for details, which I have filled up and sent. The acknowledged with multiple complaint numbers for the various issues. Hope things will improve. They better... as there are going to be lots more options otherwise...
