Well, to split hair, Rs. 4.5 goes to the customer as TT. So obviously the telco will earn a bit on the calls made on that TT. So actual earning will be higher than 35 p. Btw, aren't you forgetting the service tax?

Well, then that website should be held accountable... they should not allow their services to be used for telemarketing. If it does, then maybe the operator should block all SMSs from that site. Either way, someone has to be accountable. Anyway, this hasn't happened to me yet. Will deal with it if it does happen...

According to Reliance GSM customer care, online recharge of any type is not possible - This mail recieved on 26 Jan, 2010. Fact is that I used HDFC netbanking to recharge my RGSM much earlier (1st Jan). Worked well... got the recharge in few seconds. So it does work! But CC as usual is clueless and hopeless.... HDFC has however mentioned fixed denominations for RGSM, in its "Valid Recharge Amt" page. I tried with an amount not allowed as per the chart, and it does seem to accept (I did not actually do the recharge though). What gives? Also, has anybody here done recharges for the new Extra Talk Time top-ups like Rs. 120, 200, 500 which give talk time of Rs. 140, 222, 555, etc? Does it work?

Absolutely! Dont these %@#$# companies realize that its VERY difficult to get these tiny recharges done!? They really need to implement other ways like letting you activate it by SMS (or calling specific no.) and deducting the charge from main balance (like RCom is doing for its SMS packs) and/or allowing such recharges to be done thru Netbanking. I really got fed up of those Rs. 8 recharges with Airtel. Shopkeepers either give some excuse or outright demand extra money for such recharges. Besides I don't even have time to go to shops for such nonsense. It was one of the reasons I got rid of Airtel and got RGSM.

You should report those SMSs to Tata Indicom and expect the sending nos. to be deactivated.

I dunno how this will work, because I'm pretty sure most people will never change the default and opt to receive messages. As for the 45 day thing, I stopped receiving spam much earlier than 45 days on my Idea phone. I know this is an old post but, when I got my RGSM connection last month, the application form itself had an option to enable DND. Didn't you select that option?

Why not for wireline subscribers?? I really hope BSNL comes out with something similar for wireline subscribers... if it wants to retain them. Have reduced the usage of my BSNL wireline to almost nil after getting RGSM and the Re. 1/3 min plan. Now RCom is cheaper for both talking and wired broadband.

Dunno about their phones, but Intex computer peripherals are just about barely average quality stuff at best.

Charging subscribers for grievance related calls is totally unacceptable. Also, most calls for inquiry are because the telcos are not supplying complete info about most plans/offers/rules/etc. Just see the latest extra talk time offer- no info about its validity period or if it can be done thru netbanking, etc. If all this is posted at least on their websites, a lot of inquiry related calls and waste of time of the customer would be avoided! As for DND, it isn't perfect (ocasionally I get an SMS, which I report) but it works pretty well with Idea at least... definitely not a total failure. Dunno about RCom as I haven't activated it.

RCom is not limiting the extra TT for R-R only. Only snag is the 7 day validity for promo TT.

But if a verified SIM is rented, then if it used for any illegal activity, wont the verified renter be in trouble?

I don't think "dupes" is the right word to use. Anyways, the legality of that aside, maybe its for the best, as the lower taxes they pay, the lower tariffs they can pass to us customers.

The best phones are those that don't need a service centre to begin with. And my Nokia needed service centers right out of the box. Nokia sux!

One whole month to get connectivity back for the people in that area? Must've created major problems for subscribers... Have experienced such total outages only with Airtel here. Never with RCDMA or Idea, in so many years... at least not longer than a few minutes.

Maybe because RCom still seems to enjoy a pretty poor image in most people's minds? Also, the GSM network needs a lot of improvement. But then even Docomo's network reviews don't seem to be too great. The gap between the 2nd and 1st is still fairly large. I'd love to see the day when Airtel is unseated from its top position.

But I have noted something funny - though in my experience Airtel is worse than RCom in most ways (even RCom's tariffs are way better), consumer perception seems to be that it is RCom that seems to have the lowest reputation. Many of my friends have Airtel, but only one has a R mobile. I have even heard of things like - they are the biggest telco... how can it not be the best? Consumers can be really funny...

Make that - costly call charges + lowest class network & customer care + top class ways of cheating = Airtel

OMG... now they are enlisting people from Airtel!! I fear things might only get much worse... I feel like running from RCom now! And Robust network? Do these people see only mirages at work? RGSM needs a lot of improvement in all ways, and RCDMA is no good for texting; and coverage out of city is not good... though I dunno if they have improved as of now. And along with this so called top-class leadership team, what about top-class customer care? Right now its almost non-existant, as getting thru to customer care is only possible late in the night. At all other times it is permanently busy.

The way Indian telcos seem to be handling privacy concerns is apalling...

Is the original RD 2030 battery no longer available? Are you sure LG no longer has it in the market? How is the duplicate battery you are using? Made by? Any other info?
