Thats what I'm saying! You are really comparing Airtel with RCom not CDMA with GSM!! Have you tried comparing with other GSM operators? If not, there is no basis for your claim. If it were true that GSM is more prone to call drops while on the move, then can you explain to me how I can drive around the city for over an hour, passing thru dozens of cells, without a single call drop, while using my Idea connection? Yes, if I try that on my Airtel connection, I too would be temped to echo what you said. Just for the record, Idea does drop calls once in a rare while when you are driving and talking! But the fequency has been approx. the same as RCDMA's calls drops, when you are on the move.

Dude, haven't you complained to RCom? I got a RGSM very recently, and was facing network problems. After complaining to the Service Assurance Cell, at least as of now everything seems to be going ok. Suggest you write to the SAC and/or the Nodal officer.

Telecom Subscriber Base Count In India
raccoon replied to savramesh's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Ok, if they are advertising it that way, then it is certainly misleading. Haven't seen any ads here... guess it hasn't been launched in Maharashtra yet. And as I mentioned, it seems a good plan compared to other plans in Mah. circle. For eg, if I speak for 30 mins on my RGSM (pay per call) - 30 / 3 = 10 x 1 = Rs. 10 On Uninor - .39 + (29 x .29) = Rs. 8.8 So if I dump RGSM and go for Uninor (when available), I save 1.2 x 100/8.8 = 13.63% Nothing terrific, but not too bad either. -
I have used RCDMA, Airtel and Idea for quite sometime, in all kinds of locations around the city and around it and on different handsets. Despite the supposed superior voice clarity claims of CDMA, I repeat I found absolutely no drawback by shifting to Idea. Voice clarity is usually similar to RCDMA, sometimes slightly better and call drops are about equally rare with both, even when on call while driving around the city. It is true that it was possible to carry out a conversation of the same quality even with 1 bar on RCDMA, but I have never had a problem with Idea, as the signal intensity where I have used it has usally been above one bar... at least when I bothered to notice. Now, that may mean that Idea has more towers around, but thats not really of direct concern to me. While the tech definitely interests me, it is almost purely for academic reasons. As a user, I'd be more interested in general network quality (including voice clarity), tariffs and handsets. You said it! My experience with RCDMA concerning texting was very bad. So it seems nothing has changed while I was away. No concatenated SMSes and parts of long SMSes vanishing or being delivered in wrong sequence does not work for me at least. There is no gain in going around telling everyone that CDMA is superior on paper and at the same time not enjoying a better experience in real life. This is my experience, and also the experience of couple other people I know, in Mah. circle. Experience with operators may of course differ depending on the circle in question. For me, the supposed benefits of CDMA were too few and the disadvantages way too many. As things stand right now, I may consider a CDMA connection only if the disadvantages are compensated by a lower tariff.

Telecom Subscriber Base Count In India
raccoon replied to savramesh's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
But why are you calling it "hidden charges"? When I checked their website, these call set-up charges are clearly and prominently displayed. I wouldn't call them "hidden". Personally, in comprision to plans of other telcos in Mah & Goa circle, I think its a good plan esp. for those who make longer local calls. -
Not true - I find no difference in voice clarity at least between RCDMA and Idea (GSM). In fact Idea is slightly better. If you compare it with say Airtel, then definitely RCDMA is better. So it depends who you are comparing with. I know CDMA is touted as the superior tech., but this claim does not seem to hold good on the field.

Dude, you have to lodge a complaint with your service provider only... the originating source is not really your problem. I don't think you can lodge a complaint thru the website, but you could email the complaint to customer care or the service assurance cell. Mention all details like source, date, time and entire SMS content. Insist on a complaint number and later demand to know what action has been taken, after the stipulated time.

^^^Yes, they have removed the incentive to recharge for higher amounts by keeping the validity at 7 days for all denominations. Guess, I'll have to keep recharging for Rs. 100 everytime too... as my calling pattern is very erratic. Still its good RCom is giving full TT even for small denominations like Rs. 100. For full TT in Idea, I have to recharge for min. Rs. 234/-
-
I don't think so?! I was able to use that talk time to call other mobiles. I believe the promo talk time was being deducted for SMSes also. Question is, is the promo talktime valid only for 7 days?
-
But the service tax part is given as promotional talk time. Anybody knows the details about this promotional talk time? CC told me it has a validity of only 7 days (for recharge of any denomination above Rs. 100) and can be used to call phones of any operator. Is this right?
-
^^^ You can do it right away, if you have retained any of the received SMSes. Calls received can be retried from your call log. Further to my post above, the following is very relevant - Seems to me that these spam SMSes are originating from Tata numbers - TM ?

Dudes (those of you who have registered for DND), aren't you supposed to bring this to the notice of your operator (RCom, I presume)? I was getting similar messges on my Idea number, though it is also registered for DND. I immediately complained to idea. They asked for the message details and contents. As of now, I very rarely get spam SMSes on my Idea number. The very few I do recieve, I immediately send to Idea. I expect the operator to see to it that it does not happen again. Suggest you do the same. This is clearly mentioned on the Registry's website - Before registering for DND, I was getting way too many promo SMS and calls from Idea. I tried to tell them to tone it down. They said register for DND; but I will then not get any useful offers either. I had no choice but to register as there was no way I could put up with that barrage. As for my new RGSM number, I have not yet registered with DND, and I am being harassed by several SMSes and calls every day! Here the issue is that all these messages seem to originate by RCom itself, and from various Reliance mobile numbers. I guess I'll have to register this under DND too. But does RCom also stop useful offers also if registered for DND? However, my Airtel number has never been registered under DND, and between these three, I have found Airtel to send the least amount of promotional junk. Much as i hate Airtel, it has been relatively better in this regard.

Here in Poona, *333 does not work throught the day. Network congestion. Only time one can possibly get thru to them is late nights.
-
Yup, they did that to me too - unasked for Matrimonial, dating and other subscriptions. It is one of my most disliked brands. I was using it only because of 10p Airte-Airtel calls (Friendz), as a secondary connection. But now RCom's Re. 1/3 min. suits me better.

Airtel Maharashtra - all local - 40 p all STD - 50 p Monthly recharge of Rs. 8 (no talktime) required. The catch? A big one - first local call of the day will be charged Re. 1 and first STD of the day at Rs. 1.5. Now, the catch is that when AirHELL says 1st call, it means the entire call to the point the call is disconnected. So if you speak for a half hour for the 1st time in the day, you will be charged Rs. 30/- (local). Extremely irritating and crafty plan. You will end up paying a lot more. All the other operators charge for the first 1 - 3 minutes only. Rest of the call is charged much lower. Got extremely pissed and is ONE of the reasons I got rid of Airtel and got RGM. The Re.1 for 3 mins is a much better plan. Airtel is the worst in all possible ways...

Dear friends Its been 9 months since court has ordered nokia to replace with new box.But till now there is no response from nokia. After 45 day I filed EA petition using a advocate again.Consumer forum is postponing the case with 20 days .Every time I have to attend the court spending time and money. Problem is nokia is not even accepting the court notice .There is no reply or acknowledgement from postal department ( notice recieved or not accepting). They are managing the post man also this is what my advocate is telling and he says Nokia do alway like this . And we know know our judicial sysem is totally useless. They cannot do any thing unless it recieves acknowledgement. They cannot take action on nokia or postal department for not returning acknowledgement in time. FRIENDS THIS IS VERY SERIOUR PROBLEM. Despite consumer forums order nokia is not obeying the order.Nokia is not respecting India judicial system. When it cannot respect the people , country and its judicial system, IT HAS NO RIGHT TO DO BUSINESS IN THIS COUNTRY. IF THIS CONTINUES , ALL MNC COMPANIES DO THE SAME WAY.THEN NO BODY BELIEVES IN CONSUMER FORUMS.ALL CONSUMER RIGHTS ARE USLESS. FRIENDS WE NEED TO SOMETHING IN THIS REGARD .PLEASE ADVICE ON THIS.We should not tolerate this anymore Dear friends At last my nokia 6275 case is over. Nokia did not replace the handset because right now they are not manufacturing and no stock with them . But it has given the cheque for Rs 11,750/- but without interest. I planned to sell the handset immediately on rimeb forum in case they replaces with new box .Now straight away I got the amount without selling. But I have original BL 6C battery used only for 6months which I have to sell it now. But over all it is a huge loss for me fighting the case.My total investment is more than nearly Rs.30000/ but I received only Rs.13,750( 11750 + 2000 expenses) My suggestion to the people who want to go to consumer forum 1.Never go to the consumer forum for low value products like less than Rs.10000 or 20k.It will be waste of time and money( your expenses) 2.Take the commitment from the advocate that he will fight the case without you visiting every time( you can visit only if required will be 5-7 times max ) 3.If you have a known advocate ( who is like your friend) you can file for any low value. 4.If you are a business man and travel mostly then go the court only for products value is in lacs. This is my experience in two years fighting in consumer forum.Thought will be other members so sharing. Thank you all for your support Lets be happy consumers. Sorry to hear about your experience, but I wouldn't say this applies to everyone. Firstly, you don't need a lawyer to fight in the consumer court. If course, its better to have one if you can affford it and cannot visit yourself. I have personally fought in the court without any lawyer and won along with interest, damages, etc. Really sad to hear that you have been award only this measly amount. In fact, rather than Nokia, I think the judge has made a joke out of the Consumer Protection Act. But thats India... and hence we get what we deserve... and Nokia is just giving us what we deserve. And how come you haven't got the intrest? If the judgement said you are entitled to intrest then there is no question of not getting it. Nokia's not giving it amounts to contempt of court. That said, without getting into details, I have had a sad experience with Nokia, myself. I don't think I will ever buy a Nokia product again, ever.

Tata Docomo Strange Problem

But his friend is facing the same problem! So maybe it isn't a problem with only his SIM. It might be a problem with many/most Dcomo SIMs. -
Tata Docomo Strange Problem
raccoon replied to ramtech's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Sorry, I don't have a solution to your problem... but if I were you, and I find them not ready to even attempt to solve your problem, then I'd happily just get rid of the SIM. With so many choices, its not a problem at all. On the other hand, if its really imp. for you to retain the connection, then I'd suggest you go to their office and demo the problem... and hope they will take interest. -
Genius is right... Tobacco consumption is an option. Radiation from a BTS on a neighboring building is not.

Get Name Of Idea Mobile User
raccoon replied to ::Hitesh::'s topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
IIRC, this has been discussed before. There was a proposal to introduce a directory of mobile numbers, same as that of BSNL landlines. One of the concerns put forward was of course privacy! It is fine that privacy is not a concern for you. But let us please not assume that it is the case with everyone. If ever such a directory is introduced, the inclusion of the subscriber's number should be optional. In fact try calling up a mobile operator and ask for a subscriber's details. You will of course be refused. However, privacy is taken very lightly in India... and you could find a way around without too much effort. This loophole by Idea is an example. -
Docomo Billing Sms Charges Before 100th Sms.
raccoon replied to rajendra.jindal's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
It is perfectly possible that all these so called errors are not errors, but deliberate ways to milk more money from subscribers. Such errors in computerized systems seem quite unlikely. In any case they should fix it for good. What tech procedure is, is not your concern. It is their problem. -

No way! That info is supposed to be confidential! In fact Idea should be sued for this kind of lax attitude towards subscriber's privacy! -
