  1. Dual Sim Holder

Useful yes, but he will incur a significant additional rent each month (unless hes already on the R2R pack on that mobile).
  2. BSNL IPTv is useless... they dont even have major channels like HBO!!! I was tempted to take it, before we went in for Tata Sky... esp. since the rental is qttractive, when clubbed with your landline phone. And also IPTv has cool features that DTH lacks. I spoke to someone in charge... and was promised that HBO and other major channels would be added in the next 1 to 2 months max! That was more than 8 months ago... LIARS!!!
  3. Dual Sim Holder

I was going to comment in exactly the same way!!! Can't stand one RCom mobiles... I wonder how he puts up with TWO!!!
  4. Looking For A Cdma Set With Scheduler Feature

Well, he could just change the year, each year... everytime after that event expires. This is what I used to do on my LG RD 2030... as I had used it to remember b'days. Since its yearly, I guess it isn't too frequent and effort... I just checked my Moto (GSM). It does have an yearly repeat function...
  5. Speaking about Airtel... its v difficult to get a local Airtel to Airtel call thru... esp. at peak hours... where does the POI problem come into the picture in that scenario???
  6. Looking For A Cdma Set With Scheduler Feature

Thats strange... I thought all mobiles... even the bare basic ones have a reminder/scheduler function... Even my old LG RD2030 has it! If LG and Spice dont have it in some of their phones, they should just shut shop and sell peanuts instead... lol! If you ask me, you should also look for a calendar feature along with reminder/schedulter... its v useful! Sorry, cant help you with the ph models... but I'm sure other members will...
  7. Seems nice... but screen seems proportionately too small; and talk time is quite low!
  8. Nokia India - Cheating Case

Those are intresting calculations... but I feel if you fight logically and forcefully, and if you get a good judge, you can usually get a refund... you should be able to present your case in that way! Also, you could claim other expenses like for travelling, loss of business/job/opportunity/etc, due to non-working phone. Cost of other handset you were forced to purchase, due to non-avalibility of the Nokia handset, etc., etc. I'm not saying you will be awarded all these expenses... it will depend on your ablity and luck... Also, you should present those calculations in court... and emphasise how Nokia will still win in spite of the Indian consumer winning the case. It sure will help the judges to award the maximum penalty... That said, Indian laws are way lame (and Nokia sure knows how to exploit that)... and customers too accepting. Unless these change, these things will continue. We can only make the best of the system we currently have... at least its better than just griping...
  9. Airtel is by far the worst network I'v used... I can almost never get thru in the 1st attemts. At peak hrs its just useless... might as well not have a phone! Not to mention call drops and bad voice clarity... I dont think even BSNL is that bad... Best again is Idea. Its the largest network here... but least congestion... and best voice clarity... even better than RIM!! RIM, in spite of being CDMA does not excel in any way... neither in voice clarity, nor congestion. But yes, its way better than Airtel... but only for voice calls.
  10. Nokia India - Cheating Case

Yes, your only option is to take them to a consumer court. You have a strong case and can claim all kinds of compensation, besides refund with intrest. Nokia India sux... I have had a very bad experience with them myself... with a brand new phone. Just avoid their products... there are better options available anyway...
  11. I was really shocked to learn that the Tatas are poised to obliterate the Olive Ridley turtles! Please read about it below... and please sign the online petition to register your disapproval... I feel like boycotting all Tata products... how can they even consider this...??? http://www.greenpeace.org/india/turtles/why-save-turtles ©Bivash Pandav Consider this… Olive Ridley turtles rely on an inexplicable, in-built navigation system that guides them, when it’s time for them to reproduce, back to the precise coast on which they were born. Now consider something else… The proposed Tata port at Dhamra threatens a nesting site that is amongst the last honeymoon suites for the remaining Olive Ridleys, a highly-endangered species that swims all the way here from places as far away as Australia and the Philippines. When you consider these two facts together, it seems only logical that Tata would reconsider its decision to build the port at Dhamra, and build it in an area that’s less ecologically sensitive. It seems especially logical when it’s Tata we’re talking about. After all, Tata has grown from a national giant into an international player, while constantly stating its commitment to the principles of social upliftment, environmental justice and sustainable development. The Tata brand is ubiquitous, present in hundreds of products that have genuinely improved the lives of generations of Indians; from the Tata salt that flavours our daily bread, the Tata BP solar geyser that warms our winter baths, the Tata Telecom that manages our communications, to the Tata cars that ‘drive a billion dreams.’ ©Bivash Pandav And yet, in Orissa, we’re witnessing a different side to the same Tata. A Tata that shuts its ears to reason. A Tata that looks the other way when confronted with evidence. A Tata that cares nothing for the community, and even less for nature. The port Tata is proposing to build in Dhamra will directly affect the Olive Ridley turtles. With 150,000 to 350,000 Olive Ridley turtles nesting in the vicinity, the average number of hatchlings is believed to range from 15 million to 35 million. When confronted by Greenpeace Tata promised concerned citizens that it would abandon the port ‘if evidence of turtle presence and the ecological significance of the area were ever unearthed.’ ©Pratyush Mohapatra/Greenpeace The evidence was submitted , but this promise wasn’t kept. The perfunctory EIA carried out in this area isn't worth the paper it's printed on. Another nesting season has passed us by, with turtle mortality from mechanized fishing agonizingly high. Coming in addition to this annual death toll, the Tata port could be the final nail in the turtle’s coffin, ensuring that this area is never safe for turtles again. Will this willful destruction be the legacy that Tata leaves behind in Orissa? Not if you can help it. To write directly to Ratan Tata and ask him to change his mind, simply sign the letter on the right. Also see this...
  12. Thanks.... I hope at least a few others have done the same...
  13. This is like a nightmare! I'd like to file a petition to get the people suggesting and considering stuff like this to be imprisoned and fined! Nay... thats too good... they should be flogged as well... who do they think they are... $%$@!*%@!... Wasting public money discussing such utter nonsense...
  14. Yes... this is really, really disgusting... coming from the Tatas. All their statements about social and ecological responsibilities, etc, are just lip service! Plese do enter your your name and email id and send in your protest using the link above dudes. And consider not buying Tata products... as they aren't listening... Its bad enough that they think about such a thing in the 1st place... and to top it, they arent even listening to their customers... Please help save our beautiful, flippered brothers...
  15. I'm not sure they will even provide unlimited free on-net calling... as GSM is at a definite disadvantage there... being less efficient at spectrum management, I doubt they will be able to offer unlimited on-net calls.
  16. You guys will be disappointed again.... Forget wow tariffs... RCom is just increasing its tentacles, and now they will reach into GSM users pockets also... and the mystery of the vanishing balance will afflict more hapless users... And I dont have to be Nostradamus to predict that...
  17. N96 Vs. Iphone

Please dont support monopolistic and proprietary products like Iphone...
  18. I'd strongly agree. Very surprising that RCom does not figure in the "distinguished" list... And Tata Sky??? We have been with them since last December, and their level of professionalism is better than most other service related companies I'v seen! Right from the people who did the installation to the customer service... they are better than most others... Yes, they have pissed me off with the changes in their plans and packages... but thats another issue...
  19. Right... it shows Bombay BPL numbers correctly as BPL... but for Maharashtra circle Vodaphone numbers also it shows BPL!
  20. Its amazing how people hate their own freedom...! And how exactly should they watch our activities??? Like hear our conversations and read our SMSes? Perfect. Why not just convert India to a Police state? Who knows, we can probably do a better job than even the earstwhile Soviet Union...
  21. Mobile Internet Ip Address

Dude, in the 1st case you are seeing the IP address of Opera's server. And thats very much to be expected, as all your data goes thru Opera's servers. You aren't directly connected to the net.
  22. Idea No Longer Rocks! Why?

I'm so glad all that dosen't apply to Mah & Goa circle... phew!!! Well, the converse is true here... You can get Airtel CC quite easily... but getting Idea CC is like winning a lottery! But then they have done my stuff thru emails... so I can bear with them...
  23. ^^^ Whether they suceed or not will largely depend on us customers! As long as we support monopolistic, proprietary and invasive systems they will grow!!! Dudes, the most effective way of registering your disapproval of such policies is to NOT patronise such products/services. No use buying an Iphone/CDMA phone and then hope and pray that things will change! So much for the Iphone hype...
  24. Is Reliance Launching Iphone 3g ?

Fat chance. At least not with Rcom... not in a hurry! Learn to enjoy ur Classics instead...
