Idea rox again! Voice clarity and call drops rate rate is around the same as Reliance, in spite of using GSM...\ (In Poona)

When I had bought the sim the validity was for one year, after about 11 months I started getting these offers on a daily basis, I also got these via recorded voice messages. My friend who uses Reliance, too got similar offer when his sim was about to expire, He recharged With Rs. 199/- got talk time of Rs. 150/- R2R and validity life time, but the taltime was only for a period of about 15 days, he had hardly used it and one fine day the promotional talk time suddenly dissapeared Hmm... didn't quite happen that way with me. I started getting SMSes in the last week of my validity. And I got Rs. 100 general talk-time (& 1 yr validity)... so no validity limitations on the talk-time. And btw, I know someone who is using value vouchers on Idea lifetime conx. In fact again a nice 6 month offer which works out cheaper than the monthly recharge thingy. Cant recall the exact amount right now though. When I stopped recharging my Reliance, they called me up few times... and even made my connection active for few days so that I could get incoming calls... but they never made me any special offer. They just pestered me to recharge using the vouchers available in the market. I told them bluntly I'm so pissed, I wont spend a single buck to recharge that way... and amongst other things, their tariff was not at all competitive. They finally disconnected the conx after one of their reps (possibly the retention dept.) made a last attempt call... he also asked me the reason why I wasn't recharging. Worst was Airtel... just sent me 1 SMS reminding me to recharge. No special offers and nothing else... no calls even... just the worst network for voice, I'v ever used!

Give voda a break... I think Airtel is the world leader in call drops.... was just talking to a friend in bombay, Airtel to Airtel... (Pune - Bombay) and the call dropped like 6 times in about 20 mins...

Sachinrocks... thats seems to be a cool plan... but is the gang plan stated by you specific for Delhi circle? As far as I can remember, the Gang plan for Maharashtra & Goa stated on Ideas site seems to have some different structure. But then Idea's site is unfortunately one of the worst, with some wrong info even on the plan Im using (I-card active). The only gripe I have against this my plan now is the Re. 1/min tariff to other local mobiles and to Idea phones in non-happy hours. I was told that I cannot use value vouchers of any kind to reduce this tariff to 50 paise... and thats the only thing that sux! And the main thing I dont like about the Gang plan is that you can make 10p calls only to other gang users. And nobody I know is on the Gang plan (as its v new). Whereas in my plan, I can call ANY local Idea number for 10p in happy hours.

At least I am not aware of any other operators offering similar schemes. And definitely not Airtel. They have never given me ANY offer in almost a year that I'v been with them (as a 2nd ph). RCom never gave any "significant" offers either (when I was with them). Cupidon, it seems you got a much better offer... with a 2 year validity! How old was your connection with you got that offer? As for value vouchers, AFAIK, they do work on Idea... not 100% sure though... as I'v never had a lifetime connection.

That is VERY bad!!! I for one dont think MNP is at all worth it, if it means increased call rates for me!!!

Well they did have a CC here... but the ONLY function they have is to placate an agitated customer by sweet talking him, and promise that everything will be ok in x hours. Of course, nothing is ever done... And they havent even refunded my money... they are just white collar robbers at their best...

Obviously they want you to give up... and thats exactly the satisfaction you should deny them! Try and state these delaying tactics very strongly in the court. But it will also depend on the judge... so its a matter of luck also...

Excellent! But the penalty should have been much higher. Wish I had done this with Hathway... had a similar kinda experience with them... worse in fact...

500 bucks just to convert to pre-paid?? They gotta be kidding... thats preposterous!!! Isn't this supposed to be free? As per TRAI regulations, plan migration is supposed to be free. Not too sure about post to pre paid migration. Anybody here knows? In any case havent heard of other operators charging for this... There are many factors to consider. One more factor is that in pre-paid you can get full talk time vouchers with most operators. That means the service tax burden will be borne by the operator. While in pre-paid you will have to pay almost 13% over the tariff opted for.

Why should it matter whether your usage is high... for selecting a pre-paid? If tariffs are lower in pre-paid, you would benifit... your usage level notwithstanding! In post paid you wont be able to keep tabs on your usage the same way you can with pre-paid. On the other hand you can avail of things like detailed bill, if you go in for post paid. Many people find it a hassle to find re-charge vouchers at odd hours. But then you can opt for internet recharge, ATM recharge, etc... maybe even keep a voucher or 2 handy for a rainy day...

Its a miracle that they are still no. 2!!! Not a single of my friends/collegues have a RIM anymore. The few that had one, gave it up long ago...

Great... but I hope they do something for us I-card active plan users too... Though they have brought the STD rate down to 1.3 on this plan too... But really need something to bring down the Idea to Local Mobiles tariff...

Rubbish... nonsense... its all a farce! What does it take to get a connection?! Anyone who has access to a copy of any of your documents like licence, Election Card, PAN card, etc, etc, can get a connection in your name and use it. Besides youc an always forge things. Do they really think people who are ready to die will be deterred by such things??? Its only millions of us non-terrorist citizens that get harassed by these measures...

Btw, 1500 is a tolled number. Here we have 1500 plus a toll free number... cant recall what it is right now. As for "contacts"...they are all modular jacks now... so Im not sure if or how he gonna clean the contacts...?! As for DNS... try Open DNS... at least you will know if your problem is because of the DNS servers. But, if you are testing your speed by downloading a large file, then DNS will not have a role to play... and its pretty unlikely that your problem will be because of the DNS servers. The most imp. thing to keep in mind is not to connect ANYTHING in serial before the splitter...

If I remember correctly, this model is/was being given as a buldled offer with full talk time on Airtel network. So its a GSM phone! I guess you have made this post in the wrong section! For PC sync (assuming this model has that facility, in the 1st place) you should check the LG site... unless someone has the sofware here... chances of which are dim.

Hmm... intrsting. I opted not to take HDFC credit card after reading all those stories on Mouthshut. They were calling me up every week to get me subscribed to lifetime free credit card or something (I have a savings a/c with them). In what ways do HDFC cards rock for you? As for linking your cards to your saving account... isnt that even more risky? That way they can deduct all kinda charges directly from your savings a/c!!!

Yes, thats quite right. Commonman, AFAIK, there is no plan where you can save on voice rental except the 256 kbps unlimited plan which costs Rs 750 + tax, per month.

I'm on the same plan! I get around 29 - 30 kBps downlink and surprise of surprises, now im getting aroud 27 kBps uplink!! Has BSNL suddenly decided to make its connections synchronous??? This is wayyyyyy cool!!!
