Well, me and my friends have been having that and all kinds of other SMS problems with Reliance, all the time. Its most likely a network problem. But just to be sure, if its a RUIM enabled handset, and if you have access to another RUIM CDMA phone, you could swap handsets and check.
-
And what about pre-paid users ...who can never default? *333 simply isn't connecting ...and it has been this way for months! Effectively, RIM pre-paid has zero customer service! And they say 80% of mobile users are on pre-paid...!
-
Even if they did, both Gmail and Yahoo are doing a good job of keeping my mail accounts from being completely over-run! Hotmail isn't!! Thats the point!!!
-
I agree, this is a VERY important point. Though I have a call filter in my Nokia GSM, the only thing it does is that I keeps my phone from ringing whenever the phone number listed in the blacklist calls. The backlight comes on and the name is displayed and the call is logged like a normal call. So this is just like setting a blank right-tone for that caller! This is like a half hearted solution. Its high time we had a more concrete solution to this problem ...from phone manufacturers and/or service providers.

Jeez!!! Have never given my mail id for anything of the sort! Even then all my mail accounts get tons of spam. But like I said, Both Yahoo and Gmail do a pretty good job of filtering it all out. For my POP3 accounts, I use MailWasher. Hotmail, inspite of setting the sensitivity to max lets in all kind of junk. Hotmail is pathetic...
-
I dont agree either. I get tons of spam on my yahoo a/c (which I'v almost stopped using since I got a gmail id)... but 99% of that spam goes in the Junk folder! So its quite good. And in my experience even Google's spam filter is about as good. Hotmail is the worst!

Any idea about what mobile to mobile (local) tariff they are charging?
-
Some phones have a black list or ignore list ...are you sure yours dosent? If it dosent, you could set a blank ring tone for that person in the address book. You also have the option to file a police complaint for harassment, etc. It may help to keep the log of calls recieved to show the police. I am not aware of what role the operator can play i this...

Quite possible. Most of these memory management proggies are crap. XP has good mem management anyway ...I dont think such progs improve anything... and on the other hand may make things worse.

Jeez .....why do you think khs123 has given that link? Please see the last 2-3 pages or so of that thread!

How can anything be loaded on the handset? All the account records are kept on Reliance's server... and the cusomer's identification, etc is done thru the info on the RUIM card. So there is no justification for these wierd rules! Anyway, Im not sure if promo bal will vanish if a RUIM is used to swap handsets, so wont comment on that. However, if it is so, then this will be another serious drawback of choosing CDMA/Reliance. Because on GSM, I know that you can use even handset bundle offer SIMs, etc., on other GSM phones.
-
Right. I forgot about the promo balance thingy. One more reason why its way better to have a RUIM enabled handset!
-
If the RAM is faulty, its not gonna rectify itself just because you use it in an A/C room... Have u scanned for malware? Just one scanner may not help...
-
You just need to use a "Handset Change Card" (HCC). AFAIK, your a/c as it is will be transferred to the other handset, along with balance and all. When I last heard of it, the cost of a HCC was Rs. 22/- I'd suggest you go for a RUIM activated handset to avoid this HCC nonsense...
-
Well, that up-to-date info wont be of much use either, since its nearly impossible to connect to CC (except mebbe v late in the night). Anyway, its not my problem anymore, since I'm outta RIM ...but my bro is still stuck with it because of the number.

Using Zte Pcmia.fast But Torrents Fail To Pick Up Speed?
raccoon replied to abishek2222's topic in Data services
NO need to use any software and add bloat to your system. Just use task scheduler! You can use the following command line ...set to run at 6 am: rasdial netconnect /disconnect *where "netconnect" is the name of the connection. It might be a good idea to include a command line shutdown command (if supported) for the torrent client, set to run couple of mins before the above command, so that it can shut down gracefully before the conn is terminated. -
Using Zte Pcmia.fast But Torrents Fail To Pick Up Speed?

Try using random ports and use protocol encryption ...your client would need to support that, of course. Your port is forwarded, I hope? Also check the latency ...not sure to what extent that affects torrents, though. -
Ya ...what has improved? The network quality which was quite good for voice calls, at least, has gone BAD! SMSing has always had all kinds of disadvantages/problems. No basic services like Call waiting/forwarding, voice mail, etc. Tariffs which were cheaper than most operators are now more expensive. And they never had great handsets anyway, and now that situation is much worse with only the cheap Chinese Classics being promoted... This is improvement???

Could be faulty RAM. Check that if the other stuff dosent solve the problem. If you have more than one DIMMs, you could just run the machine on one of them at a time and see if it solves the problem.

Khs123, I guess due to lack of clarity in my post, there has been some misunderstanding! I wasn't adressing you when I commented on F3's display. I was reffering to ani_meher's positive comment on its display quality! I fully comprehended that your comment about the LG UI was directed at its SMS interface. I did try to compose a SMS on the LG in the shop, and did not find the UI to be exactly horrible. I just found it to take a few clicks more to get a job done (efficiency)...and it lacked some functions that the Nokia had. But then as a whole the LG has stuff which the Nokia dosen't. So its subjective... Of course the UI could have been changed since you are talking about an older LG, and I had checked out a current one. As for your comment that GSM phones generally have a better batt life, compared to GSM ...I was in fact supporting your statement ...not refuting it!! As for my "feelings against Nokia" of course, I speak from my experience. Of course everybody else is entitled to their own! In fact, its not just my own experiences, but a lot of my friends have faced/are facing problems with their Nokias ...and now have similar feelings against Nokia that I have. And these very people were staunch Nokia proponents in the past! Notably, this is more so with current models ...otherwise for the older models ...we all know how durable they are/were. And UI and stuff will be of no use if the damn phone dosent work ...LOL!!!
-
khs123, cant agree with you on that. Nokia is now overpriced junk. It might have been known for durable phones before, but not now ...but we cant buy a phone in the past ...we have to buy it NOW! And they have proved that they are not concerned with consumer satisfaction or opinion either! Nokia is neither rugged nor economical! I checked out the moto F3 at the shop, and frankly I was quite disappointed. The display was just not acceptable. I dont know how you say you like the display quality. Have you actually seen a working phone? Dont go by pictures! The reviews are not exactly positive either. As for the LG, the UI was not exactly "horrible" ...but it did not seem to have couple of the functions the Nokia had, like SMS "Send Later" function, etc. And yes, I certainly dont think you should compare CDMA LGs batt life with a GSM! Motto w205 would be a far better option. But yes, if it does not have seperate lists for missed and recieved calls, then at least for me it would be a deal breaker. And khs, its not that you cant tell which is a missed call and a recieved call ...calls that connect (recieved calls) have a small "tick" mark in the icon ...so you can differentiate. But the mark is pretty small, and if an elderly person with poor eyesight is using the phone, then... tough luck! The main problem is that only the last entry for a particular number is logged ...so you cannot tell when and how many times particular person gave you a missed call, etc. This is how it is on L7, etc. Dont know if its so with all Mottos. I cant understand why Motto botched up on such a basic requirement! Khs123, as for the voice clarity issue, I'v been told that (by very reliable sources) most basic phones have better voice clarity than upper end ones ...so It MIGHT not be that your LG has any significant edege over basic phones of other makes.
-
Moto F3 does not have good reviews ...so think twice before buying it. IMHO, for a bit more, you could buy something way more decent like the LG B2060 ...with a 64k colour screen and GPRS, etc, which you dont need, but still the phone, in my opinion, is the best looking in the basic segment, with its metallic finish. I was getting it for Rs. 2,300 in Poona, about a month ago. Might be bit cheaper in Bombay. Samsung also has a decent offering in this segment, but the rubber keypad put me off. I haven't actually used these handsets ...just checked them out at the shop ...so I cant comment about durability, service, etc. Just BEWARE of Nokia ...of which I am a totally dissatisfied customer ...I'v posted my experience in another thread recently, so wont repeat. You could also consider the bundled offers by Airtel, Hutch etc ...you will get a better handset than the F3 with 2 yr validity and on-net talk time worth the full price of the handset. Not sure if they have that in Bombay though.

Yahoo has other issues too ...v often its quite slow. Also picture thumbnails are damn small ...and to view you have to download each one seperately! Pathetic!! And its cluttered with too many graphic ads, etc, compared to gmail. I gave it up long ago ...just use the id for Yahoo messenger.

I need to buy an inexpensive GSM handset as a 2nd phone (to use with an Idea connection). Price should be not more than 2 or at the very max 2.5k. Cheaper the better. The bare minimum requirements are: 1) Multiple recepients for SMSes (must!) 2) Support for concatenated (>160 characters) SMS (must!) 3) Multiple field address book (3 per entry will do) 4) Handset software and keys should be efficient for SMSing 5) Signal reception, voice clarity, should be GOOD 6) Basics like Calendar/Scheduler/Reminder/Alarm/Calculator would be very desirable 7) Colour screen prefered but not prerequisite ...more important would be good fonts and clarity for SMSing. Very small screen definitely not preferred as its not good for SMSing. 8) Decent looking (really not fond of looks like the Nokia 1100, etc) 9) A torch would be very desirable but not mandatory Basically, a reliable basic handset which is really good at the basics - SMSing and Voice calls. FM radio, etc not at all required. Would really appreciate if anybody could help me with this... P.S.: Anybody has any opinion of the LG KG-110 handset being bundled with Airtel connection? Seems the handset is available without the bundled Airtel SIM with some dealers. Isn't the handset likely to be locked? Would there be any problems with SIMs of other operators if the handset is unlocked?

The handset failed again. Took it to the ASC ...and inspite of escalating the issue, Nokia is adamant about not replacing the defective handset. They have again returned it to me after repairing ...and with lots of glib talk and empty assurances... Bottomline is, I have to learn to live with a defective handset which neither looks nor performs like new! Guess, I deserve this for making the mistake of choosing a Nokia Lets see how long before it fails again... Perhaps instead of doing all this, it might save me time if I sue them in the Consumer Court instead... A friend was just telling me his tale of woe with his Nokia 2255 (Tata Indicom) ...problems even after repeated repairs! Beware of Nokia ...they neither have the quality/durability they used to be known for, nor are they bothered about customer satisfaction...
