  1. Unlimited Internet With Rs.440rcv

Spookie, think again! I dont think you get unlimited internet using 440 voucher! Whats more R-connect using pre paid will be quite expensive, considering the alternatives. Consider post paid data plans for that. And "fantastic" polyphonic tones??? Thats gotta be a joke! You will also be at a big disadvantage with text messaging! With the current plans and all, I wouldnt recommend RIM to anybody. Perhaps the ONLY advantage is roaming ...but now thats diminished if Bombay-Mah roaming was important for you. And perhaps the only other advantage would be if you need net access (R-Connect) on the move ...else broadband alternatives would be better!
  2. Free Sms

Vishal, obviously I checked the URL I was quoting!!! And it simply wasnt working yesterday! So I thought mebbe it isnt the correct URL. But its working now. Thanks anyway...
  3. Free Sms

For some inexplicable reason, I'v lost all my bookmarks, passwords and everthing from Opera! With that I lost the Reliance URL for web to RIM messaging. Searched the form and could not find it. The links I found are not working. I know its working, cus Iv been using that URL till yesterday! Could someone please give me the correct URL?
  4. I'v had issues with SMS to Tata. The main one being that I'd never get a delivery receipt. And some messages just went into oblivion...! I had complained to CC and was told that they dont yet have formal connectivity with Tata ...its still in 'testing' phase ...so forget the delivery receipts - they cant even really guarantee that the messages will get across in the first place! Had got a similar reply when i complained about BSNL!! RIM sux is all ways concerning text messaging! No probs with voice calls though.
  5. Phone Security

Yesterday, I recieved the following SMS, supposedly from Reliance - After some time I checked, and found that incoming and outgoing calls were both operational. I called *333, and as expected, they didn't seem to know a thing! Anybody else got this message? Anybody make any sense from it?
  6. Broad Band In Pune

I don't know if they operate in Yerwada ...thats the other end of the city for me... Try 9890669028 to find out. It might be worthwhile to inquire with other users before commiting for 6 months ...I'm not in the know about the quality of their services. In fact, If you do subscribe, do let us know about ur experience. :'(
  7. Virus Infection Over Pc

Anujit, are you kidding??? McAfee is almost as resource hungry as NAV! Just check it out 1st!! In real life too, I never realised how much McAfee was slowing down my system until I uninstalled it (it was installed by my vendour). The only reason I was reluctant to remove it was 1) intertia 2) pretty good detection rates. But as far as spyware goes, I guess its detection rate is BAD! But then most AVs are bad at that ...in varying degrees... And Chirag, if we get spam and stuff from you cus of malware getting the upper hand with you, we will sue! Always practice safe hex guys. I do, and not once has any anything got a significant upper hand on my rigs. :'(
  8. Virus Infection Over Pc

Chirag, obviously the virus is blocking out the AV sites... Anyway, you definitely have a fast enuf PC to run even a heavy AV like Norton (though you havent mentioned your RAM). Anyway, you could use Antivir, a much lighter and free AV. No mail scanning and frills here. Also, no incremental updates and updating can be very slow ...which can be a pain. Perhaps the lightest AV iv seen is Dr. Web (Russian). It has an amazingly small footprint of about 500 kB (if you unload the scheduler and frills). In comparision Norton soaks up whereabouts of 40 MB of precious RAM! But its not free. I'm trying it on my old 200 MHz, 32 MB RAM machine. It even has a DOS comm line scanner....
  9. Broad Band In Pune

Airwada = Yerwada? Anyway, dont know about that area, but I belive, in my area, Hathway is now giving 64 kbps for Rs. 500 per month. You have to pay 6 months rental advance. No installation charges. No d/l limits.
  10. Adblocking Google Ads,

Instead of just an ad blocker, consider an IE shell like Maxthon or Avant ...tabbed browsing, ad-blocking, better security, etc, etc, all built in. Plethora of functions ...esp. in Maxthon. Works on the IE engine too...
  11. Internet Usage Calculation

DU meter is good ...but don't miss the fact that it soaks up about 5,000 kB of precious RAM! That puts it in the bloatware catageory, if your ask me...
  12. Firefox Tips-n-tricks

But I havent found a solution to my problem! And I was just getting to like FF In fact trying out Opera now, cus definitely cant put up with IE anymore. Its really coooool & really fast! And no JVM probs there! Have downloaded Maxthon too ...going to take that around for a drive next...
  13. Users Of Freedom Plan - Read This

Seem to be real intresting links decodecz... I think this mess can be avoided if the companies are just specify how they are defining the units ...simple!
  14. Voice Chat Over Rconnect

One GB is not so good!!! Im on dial up 56kpbs modem and this month I logged my usage - its already 1.28 GB ...and one more day to go. Besides you need to keep some marjin just is case.... And my usage is just 'average'. For those who download MP3s and Vids and all would use lot more even on a dial up! And R-connect is much faster than a dial up.
  15. Firefox Tips-n-tricks

Installed Firefox yesterday after having a very bad time with IE! It seems to attract all kinds of malware like a magnet ...one web site infected my machine with a trojan in the jar cache where even virus scanners souldnt clean/delete!! Other things aside, just the security implications make Firefox a way better option. No probs with that for me ...Im able to attach files too. And as far as .EXE files are concerned you can just rename the extention to something else and attach it. It worked for me. Unfortunately it dosent work that way - I downloaded a utility just yesterday and discovered that its an older version from the one offered on the parent site! Pays to double check... However Sun JVM is making like diffiuclt! I was using MS JVM until couple months ago and it was better, more stable and much smaller than thus bloatware from Sun! Unfortunately its no longer supported... I even uninstalled an older version of Sun JVM (some versions are incompatible) from my machine after installing Firefox as Java was just not working in Firefox; downloaded the latest #$%&@! 15 MB bloatware Sun JVM, but strangely SOME java enabled sites just dont seem to be working properly while others are fine. Anybody with this problem ...and hopefully a solution?
  16. Students Suspended For Sexually Explicit Mms

No limit to human stupidity! And hats off to voters who elect a regime like this... Anyway... What exactly does he mean by this??? Porn is not the problem ...people like him are!
  17. RIM Helpline / Service Nos.

Voice mail (*600) seems to be free on 440 voucher though. I activated voice mail after charging with that voucher and am getting voice mail access free (despite what the morons at CC told me).
  18. Bsnl May Hike Phone Tariffs, Rentals

Ya, about 3 times as much...
  19. Bsnl May Hike Phone Tariffs, Rentals

Well, as it is leading GSM networks are quite congested ...I dont know how they will be able to provide something like that. The good thing about Reliance is that there dosent seem to be any network congestion in spite of their unlimited intracircle plans. I really hope some GSM operator will eventually come out with such a plan. Calling people without worrying about tariffs is a great experience! Unfortunately very few people I know have Reliance phones.
  20. How do we create Ringtones?

PSM player would perhaps be the easiest to use for that purpose. You can search for it in the form or on the web.
  21. Bsnl May Hike Phone Tariffs, Rentals

Sulabh scheme is an incoming only scheme where rental is something like Rs. 160 / month. I believe this scheme has a variant where you can opt for outgoing facility too ...for rs. 1.20 per 3 min call (to local landlines). This is not recommended if your usage is high as you wont have the benifit of the zero rental schemes. OR Dont opt for incoming facility ...and you can make outgoing calls using BSNL's prepaid calling card for Rs. 1.10 per 3 min call.
  22. Which P2p Client Do You User?

    I use Shareaza.
  23. Why 140 Character SMS ?

Now thats really sick! What if all operators start doing something like that??? I think such a move will be counterproductive for RIM - people who SMS a lot simply dont even consider buying a RIM!
  24. Students Suspended For Sexually Explicit Mms

I really wonder if man will ever reach a stage where he can live in peace without a gazillion laws/rules/regulations... Once when I was talking about a related subject to a friend, he told me something which really stayed with me. He told me, "Dont fret so much! We need 'these' people to make rules for us ...else what will we have to break???" May every "strict rule" be broken! It will remind us that the human spirit is meant to be FREE...!!
  25. BIRTHDAY WISHES!
