Thats why you should always use an uninstaller ...though even then there is no guarantee... As for a solution now, the 1st thing you could try: re-install Macromedia Flash Player...

Dunno abt TATA but my RD2030 acknowledges for FWP. 17993[/snapback] You mean your 2030 returns a delivery receipt to RELIANCE FWP? That I believe mine does too ...im talking about Tata mobile & FWP! Has anybody got a delivery reciept for SMSes to Tata phones? At least I don't...

This is amazing ...140 char SMS!!! And for this reason I wont even consider this phone! Guys, think before you buy - I discovered very recently that several of the messages my friends send form GSM networks and which don't get thru to me are just about a character more than my phones capacity. A friend tried to send me an SMS from his Idea, in front of me, and he even got a "Message Sent" message on his screen! And he tried twice ...but nothing got thru to me. You are likely to get into several misunderstandings on this count ...as I did. No use buying phones with a measly 140 char SMS capacity when others (GSM users) have close to 1,000 char capacity ...unless you just dont need SMSes. I also discovered one more thing: SMSes sent to Tata Indicom mobiles and FWPs from my RIM dont return a delivery reciept!

Yes, I discovered it myself the same night I posted here; and it still works - you just need to activate your phone as a modem (mine was originally off) and wait for the confirmation SMS which takes some time (I did it late at night and I got the confirmation in the morning). Thereafter, R World started working... I didnt even have to restart my phone, etc. Unfortunately the topic was "closed" by a moderator and I could not post on this thread. Thanks for opening it again as Im sure it would benifit others...

RIM has now included ICICI bank along with HDFC bank for mobile banking thru R-World. Since I have an HDFC bank a/c, I registered for this service with HDFC bank and can now check my account details and carry out select transactions using R-World. However, much to my surprise there seems to be no password/PIN security for accessing the account! That means whoever has even brief access to my mobile has access to my bank account! So if it ever gets stolen ...or even in cases where I have to take it to the service station, anybody would have direct access to the account and could even carry out transactions!!! Its really surprising that they have overlooked this very important security loophole! Is this the same for people who have registered with ICICI? Anybody concerned about this???

Reliance To Launch Netway Service By Oct-nov
raccoon replied to Mantraway's topic in Reliance Communications
Airtel is into landlines? Never heard of that ...at least not in Poona. What areas do they operate in? -
AVG sure is very good ...and best of all its free! Surprisingly only 5% people have polled for it ...I guess its just not very well known. And about the system resources thing - I have used it on my antique 200 MHz MMX machine for well over a year!!! So you can imagine. And no virus has ever penetrated my machine... They also release updates for virus definitions quite frequently. I use McAfee on my new machine though ...as I got it from the vendour.

Well, my 2030 supports upto 160 chars. ...for forwarding also. And incresing the limit to 160 is hardly enuf when GSM users can send close to a 1,000 chars!!! Besides you can't even use MMS for non RIM users! Cant SMS from the net. And no Yahoo! integration either... No ways voice calls can substitute all that...

My McAfee detected the Eicar test file (above) the moment I tried to unzip it.
-
It seems they are not intrested in looking into the SMS limit even on their new models. 140 char limit for SMS along with MUCH higher SMS tariffs (compared to GSM operators) pertty much make all RIM phones unviable options for people who SMS a lot...

You found 98 stable??? Amazing ...on my comp it used to hang if used for an extended period of time. Something that dosent usually happen with my XP...
-
Me too ...never experienced that even though my ph. bids me bye bye all the time while talking... Shabbooo, clearly ur phone is haunted ...you need an exorcist's forum ...not a tech forum...

Utsav, you can pay bills (if you have registered seperately for it). Though Iv found it quite user-unfriendly! They expect you to remember and feed in company short codes, bill amt. and all!! Not menu driven like net banking. You can also check your a/c balance, last 3 transactions, FD inquiry, cheque status, order a statement or cheque book, give stop cheque instructions, change primary a/c., etc. You can't transfer funds or effect 3rd party payments thru mobile banking.

If saving batts is very imp. while phone is off (like if ur travelling), you should detach the battery from the phone body. If you do that, then the rate of discharge will be equal to the batt self discharge rate only. Its normal for a cell phone to consume a bit of power even while its switched off.
-
Its HIGHLY unlikely that they will expect a re-registration!

However, Iv been trying to send an SMS to both my RIM and Excel (BSNL pre paid), without luck! The emails are just bouncing. Inquiries with Sancharnet regarding the possibility of sending SMS thro this route to a RIM number drew a blank ...as expected. Could anybody with a Sancharnet a/c try and see if its working?
-
Yes, its working now ...and not a single improvement I can detect. In fact some apps like find a friend, etc, are not working. The email app. is still the old version, etc, etc... I guess what they call "upgradation" is actually repairs/failures being given a nice name...
-
I just called up helpdesk. They say R World is undergoing upgradation so services will be down till 2 am tonight. Upgradation??? Well, lets hope they do actually "upgrade" the old gunk there!
-
Iv been trying to access R world on my 2030 since afternoon today ...and have been getting the same message - "R World not connected..." *333 is working though.
-
Indeed, it should work... What I'v really not been able to coax into the T9 database inspite of several skirmishes with it are smilies like ":-)", etc... Generically, T9 is supposed to be able to add such symbols. Don't know why you can do it on RD 2030. Is it possible on other RIM models?
-
Really cool service ...esp. cus of the free POP3 and IMAP access! Thanks Vishal!
-
Along with X100, don't forget the beautiful C100! It has an IR port too. But no MMS ...and I belive no group SMS either (not abs. sure about that though). And you can't add words to the T9 database. But for these drawbacks, I almost bought one couple months back. But otherwise a real beauty...
-
As far as the word "unbill" goes, I just tried it on my RD2030 ...and it did get added to the T9 database! So I guess differnt handsets got different problems!! I also checked if the names in the address book are there in the T9 database (this has been discussed in another forum) ...and i find that some are there and some are not!!! I guess RIM has installed different bugs on different handsets for variety ...and to keep us entertained!

Battery upgrade? The battery in itself may not necessarily be the problem! More likely its the phone's power consumption/management that drains the batts so quick. May not be something that can be solved only with a battery or software upgrade!

Its for landline users I believe. When it was put up on their website I'd called up their (BSNL) helpdesk for details ...and they didn't know a thing about it! Check out the details on their site - www.bsnl.co.in
