can you fiddle around with some codes to make the ir port do something useful?

is this different from the gtran card they had earlier? does it hv better features?

Forgot to mention - the model numbers are nokia 2112, 6585 and 6225. dont hv an idea of the price

forget the forums... go to the downloads section to download the reliance techical docs. Here is what they have to say abt the question (_rapmin and _rapsvc): _rapmin: 10 digit min no for testing the application through emulator (Already implemented in RAPRequest only the field need to be added in the .jad file) _rapsvc: providerID.ServiceID which will be assigned by Reliance at the time of service creation. (For e.g _rapsvc: 4.180 for AutoCabFare Application) (Already implemented in RAPRequest only the field need to be added in the .jad file) as they say RTFM

i have called the CC many times but have never EVER been satisfied. They are good only for simple queries nothing beyond that.

what can you do with the IR port of the LG phone. can it be used to connect to a laptop for data transfer or internet surfing?

I complained... and a response similar to what you got. We will fix it soon.. blah blah blah and let you know through appropriate channels. I am gonna ask them for a replacement handset now... this phone is toast

I am getting fed up with Rworld... there is no stablity in services.

can any gtran user see the MMS or webmail? its been months since both the options vanished...

Slot Cycles A typical CDMA phone wakes up periodically and turns on its receiver briefly to see if it has been paged, which means to find out if there is an incoming call. This happens on what is known as a slot cycle, and the period of the slot cycle is controlled by the cell and/or network. Slot cycle indices are numbers from 0 to 7, and for any index the period is 1.28 seconds multiplied by 2^index. Increasing the slot cycle will delay the receipt of incomming calls/sms but will also reduce battery consumption as the receiver will use less power. Common values for slot cycles are 1 or 2.

maybe the problem is not at reliance end and not at gtran. afterall the phone's software would hv been extensively modified by RIM. abt the price drop... its price drops due to normal demand-supply its normal - but in this case the price dropped within a month of the upgrade scheme. now thats fishy. The point is reliance has a monopoly in handsets for RIM system and it is abusing this power.

hey this gmail drive thing is really great.

slowly i hv started realising the issues with gtran... sms not displayed properly, very poor battery life, LCD not visible in sunlight, bad interface, no firmware upgrades, limited rworld support.... the list goes on and on and on. To add salt to the wounds, RIM slashed prices from 12000 to 6000. I want to swtich the the LG colour phone... much better value for money.

if anyone would like more info on reliance data access protocols its available on www.dadp.com - incl the usage of _rapmin, _rapsvc etc. You can get details on how to access their intranet gateway. its a good site

i hv read that the gran also allow for storing of some ebooks. nifty stuff!! Need to see if we can upload the games with bitpim. But what filename? which folder??

i was going through the relianceinfo.com website and i find no mention of gtran gcp4020 in the handset payment options. has the model been discontinued by reliance? will be continue to get service and support?

its true... most Rworld apps are geared towards LG ... handsets like GTran are very poorly supported.

what abt ppl in smaller cities? monks dont live in big cities - this doesnt mean they are not loyal I have paid all my bills on time everytime

racoon, the way gtran is being marketed is that repairs etc will be done by the local webworld. they dont have too many service centeres.

phew! I hope they continue to support gtran by developing and porting rworld apps. Any news of software updates for gtran?
