A7 Chip In Apple iPhone 5S Is Actually Made By Samsung Source Apple and Samsung have an increasingly competitive relationship over the recent years, with their iPhone and Galaxy S-lines doing battle to see which can sustain this highest level of technological advancement the longest. Another well-documented, but perhaps less known, fact is that Samsung actually supplies Apple with mobile processor chips and has actually signed an agreement with Apple to provide them with 14mm A9 chips through to what is predicted to be the iPhone 7. It comes as no surprise then that we see that the highly vaunted A7 64-bit chip in the Apple iPhone 5S, which has produced a 20-30% performance improvement over the old iPhone 5, is actually made by Samsung. And as a related side-note, if anyone is considering switching to the iPhone 5S because of its 64-bit processor, have a read ofthis article and see why a 64-bit processor is no better than a 32-bit processor in the current and near future mobile industry. So there you have it, another product of the awkward relationship between Apple and Samsung, which at the heart of it, is just good business. Anybody want to share their opinion on this relationship between Apple and Samsung? Share it with us in the comments. Source: Chipworks via Phandroid

Mobile Number Portability (MNP): Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
csmart replied to rajanmehta's topic in Mobile Number Portability (MNP)
Try to get new SIM for your number. But beware, if they ask you to fill CAF then don't do it otherwise you will not be allowed to port for another 3 months, citing 90 days lock in period. Also check your details on Reliance anroid app, InstaCare or registered on their site, myservices.relianceada.com- 242 replies

From Vodafone to RCDMA Reason: No network in my office. Lodged many compalints and their engineer visited my office. He confirmed the poor network and said that nothing can be done. As and when they change their tower or improve it will be done. It is long process and they are sorry. BTW the tower is just 100 meters from my office. 22nd Aug: UPC generated 24th: Documents submitted to Web world. 30th: received SMS that service will star from midnight. At 11PM received another SMS, your service active. Put RUIM in CDMA handset got tele verification. Service started within an hour after that. I am back to original service provider, RCDMA. This time with prepaid connection. Subah ka bhula shaam ko vaapas aaye to bhula nahi kehte.

Apple wants to maintain its premium tag. Coming back to the features, touch ID in my opinion is really good. If it works the way it is shown. The unlocking the device becomes much easier and there is no need for nay third party app for hidding/locking access to app. It also saves lot of time on typing password or draw pattern to unlock.

I liked the ring around the home button. BTW already bashing started for this phone. It has become a norm now to bash Apple after every iPhone launch...

The other problem you forget is about royalty that they have to pay to Qualcomm on every CDMA handset sold in India. So this is also one of the reason for higher price. Please note that royalty is not paid when a handset is sold in US.

BlackBerry looks to spin off Messenger division -- report Source BlackBerry might decide to spin off one of its divisions, according to a new report. BlackBerry is trying to determine whether it should spin off its BlackBerry Messenger service to a separate company, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing people who claim to have knowledge of the plans. The newly formed company would be known as BBM Inc., according to the Journal's sources. Since its inception, BlackBerry Messenger has been one of the favorite platforms for BlackBerry users. The app allows users to instant-message with other BlackBerry users without paying text-messaging fees. Although BlackBerry devices have lost their popularity, BBM has remained a popular messaging option. The move would put the spinoff company in direct competition with other services like Whatsapp and WeTalk. If BBM Inc. is formed, it won't be long before the messaging service is expanded to other platforms, according to the Journal. In fact, a working version of BBM that can work across several platforms was built over a year ago, according to the Journal's sources. A desktop version also is running internally at BlackBerry. The possible BBM spinoff comes afterBlackBerry announced that it has appointed a special committee to explore "strategic alternatives" for its ailing option. BlackBerry claims to be open to any and all options, including selling its operation to another firm. So far, however, no plans have been announced. CNET has contacted BlackBerry for comment on the Journal's report. We will update this story when we have more information.
