  1. Handset Launches - News Snippets

iPhone 5 on Sprint in mid October Rumors on the net about it.. It appears that Sprint, one of the “big four” carriers in the USA to NOT have gotten their hands on any version of the iPhone thus far, will be amongst those lucky 3 (T-Mobile still not included) that are able to sell the next-generation device come October. It’s the Wall Street Journal that’s reporting their sources “familiar with the matter” that Sprint will be supplied with the iPhone 5 (or whichever iPhone is the most current at the time) alongside Verizon and AT&T. Meanwhile Sprint stock has jumped considerably today (see image inside post below) in light of the news. The Wall Street Journal article has a bit of information that contradicts a story from earlier today in which Rueters reports a September launch for the next-gen iPhone. According to the Wall Street Journal’s sources, a mid-October launch will be “later than expected”. Either way it appears that several name-brand sources are reporting SOME sort of iPhone upgrade inside 2011, and sooner than later if we’re lucky. That same Rueters report sends word that Asian suppliers to Apple are gearing up for a brand new version of the iPhone 4, one that this time will be slightly less expensive out of the gate because of its lowered 8GB internal storage. Could this be the Sprint version, or does it make more sense to you that this version would be released alongside the full-sized version like all other devices are marketed? We’ve also got word this morning that the iPhone 5 could be a dual-mode GSM/CDMA world phone – this on top of the 4G LTE iPhone 5 story should just about round out our collection of every single different possible configuration for the device under the sun. Release em all! [via Wall Street Journal]

you are not looking at the other side of it. because of lokpal and other such threat, entire bureaucracy has stopped working. earlier all those who were taking bold decisions are not coming forward. there are large number of approval pending for purchase required by NTPC, Power grid etc. this all ultimately affects development of nation. today it is simple to make allegation and start inquiry against any body. i agree that we need a system whereby cases are cleared in timely manner. but for that, not only govt, but also lawyers should be blame. look at famous Kasab trial. his lawyer said he did not believe the affidavits and want to examine each and every witness. this process is time consuming and case prolongs. the lawyers are champions for this.
  5. this may be off topic.. but for the first time i saw a RCDMA engineer came for checking network quality in my office and home. this was after numerous complain via mail and to 198... in fact they found little problem in my office and told me that they have twiked certain settings in their nearby site. will again follow up with me in few days. so it appears that they are still serious about CDMA

a must read... I received IN MAIL.. Original Post... Why Anna Hazare should not win this battle ..... by CP Surendran18 August 2011 A most comical anti-corruption opera is being staged all over the country under the leadership of Anna Hazare, who in his moral tyranny is actually beginning to look like Mahatma Gandhi. This itself is a bit of laugh: when a man wants to be someone else eventually transmigration of the soul and nose happens. It only remains for Anna to hold the Dandi March. But the real reason why this anti-corruption campaign is looking like an over-stretched Johnny Lever joke is that the people largely constituting the movement have happily externalized corruption as if it's an event happening outside themselves. The fact is that the petite bourgeoisie-auto rickshaw drivers, and constables, if Haryana Police Sangathan support for Jan Lok Pal's bill is any indication, and low paid government officials and assorted elements-have no idea that they are very much part of the corruption. They believe it is a disease outside them, primarily endemic to the government and its institutions, when they are active players in the drama. The others who are a part of the movement, including the youngsters, who this lookist country swears by, are there for an opportunity to hold candles and chant Sarojini Naidu kind of poems which normally begin: O, deliverer… The youth will hold a candle and even burn a finger from the dripping wax, but when it comes to admission, if an IIT director or an engineering college dean will accept cash for seats, they will gladly part with it. For one with passing interest in the Lokpal politics, the only major difference in the bills drafted by the government and Anna apart from bringing the PM into the bill's ambit, seems to be that the government wants to set up a separate investigative agency while Anna and his team want an existing investigating agency like the CBI to report to the Lokpal committee. That would eventually mean the Lokpal evolving into a parallel power vortex, and might make Parliament redundant. In other words, those whom you elected will not be of as much consequence as those self-appointed or government nominated Lokpal committee members. That is a fraught process, and actually might create more unaccountability and corruption. That is one part of the joke. The other, equally entertaining part has been the Congress-led UPA government's complete and visible bankruptcy of ideas to tackle an agitation outside party structures. Much the same happened before the Emergency when Jayaparakash Naryan led a movement that cut across party lines against the Indira Gandhi led Congress government, which panicked and declared an Emergency. Anna's movement is mostly apolitical. And the support it has drawn, for all its faults, is an indication how political parties and other democratic institutions have failed to represent people, or inspire faith. Across the world, memberships of political parties are decreasing. Alternate people's groupings with environmental and ethical themes are gaining strength. In Europe and America where democracies are institutionally stronger and fairer than in India, this could be explained as an evolution. But, in India where fairness woven into the system is at best fraying, when a movement is directed primarily against its institutions and the political party in power as well as the ones in Opposition are fumbling in their response, a movement like this can have dire consequences. Clearly, the parties have failed to represent the people, which is why a moral tyrant like Anna is holding the government to ransom. When institutions fail, individuals take up their role. .And if Anna wins, the nature of Indian politics will change. It'd be fun to see who were the advisors who landed a wimp like Prime Minister Manmohan Singh into the Lok Pal soup. A party that can't argue its case against a retired army truck driver whose only strength really is a kind of stolid integrity and a talent for skipping meals doesn't deserve to be in power. Power goes to people who love it. Anna Hazare loves nothing more than power.

i feel that so much support is mere out of frustration. a common man is frustrated because basic requirements of good roads, decent govt. schools, easy access to cheap and better medical services, electricity etc. nobody is highlighting these points. every body has jumped on corruption wagon. but nobody ever bother to work for betterment of their own locality. i am not in favor of corruption but then i also do not support the way Anna Hazare (AH) is going. you cannot get everything you want. you cannot just "blackmail" government, whether its right or wrong. in future anybody will start fasting for his personal agenda. where was he when Swami Nigamananda died after fasting for 115 days. Not a single person rose in his (Swami Nigamananda)support and 90% of us are not aware of him. AH also has support of Megha Patkar. We all know her source of funding against Narmada Dam. Baba Ramdev and Sri Ravi Shankar are multi millionaire and can speak anything. As @sougatadc said, all are for personal gains and nothing else. i am asking people, what have you done on your part to stop corruption. we simply protest. helmet is compulsory and we should understand that it is for our safety. but we simply do not use it, except for people in few states. when caught, we pay bribe. we are such that we do not want to follow the rules and when caught do not want to pay fines.
  8. Palm OS Killed By Its Step Father

what is HP up to? there was pressure to spin off profit making, printer business as separate entity few years back. now it is doing opposite. it has compaq and palm in its stable but want o hive off PC, storage and Palm OS. what about servers? HP has suffered a lot since Oracle started bundling Sun servers with database. entire HP's Xdata line suffered. if they were not interested in Palm then why they go it. Now definitely they will sale it loss along with PC business.

  11. Need Advise To Buy An LCD TV

MRP and grey market price will always vary and difference is quite substantial. it can be anywhere around 30%. so you need to decide. whether to buy from grey or with warranty. if u know seller then grey market should not be a problem.
  12. Need Advise To Buy An LCD TV

Setu, i came to know about the purchase later on. its purely based on economics and not technology. no attention whatsoever towards technology. Samsung is doing good now days with full LED. while in India, Sony is famous. model depends on whether you need 3D or not and from where you are buying. grey market or official dealer. home theater experience is totally different and depends on lot other factors like woofer size, channels (5.1 or 7.1), how it is installed etc. so thats more sort of personal choice. the voice in current TVs are decent. but you cannot compare with HT.
  13. Need Advise To Buy An LCD TV

Its not only HD content. the picture quality and color is better on LCD compared to CRT. its always better to go for newer product as you know that tech changes faster. better go for LED or LCD. Recently my in-laws got Samsung 40D5000 for 40k from grey market in Ahmedabad. abt a month ago.
