  1. other option could be trying different ROM. I am using OmniRom on my Note 2. earlier I have to charge at evening. After this ROM, it goes for 30+ hours.
  2. ^^^ you reduced the on/off cycle but did you calculate the power requirement? saving is measure in terms of reduced power consumption. Simply buying low capacity means you are running the machine at highest capacity which has its own problem. In this case, you compressor remains on for longer period that means more power and more ware and tare so life of machine is reduced. Always ask for units of power consumed by a device. Why on/off cycle consumes more power? The reason is that whenever a compressor or motor starts, it requires high current. In technical terms it means peak current. So this current can be double the rated current and this is where power consumption is more. In case of inverter, the motor/compressor is always running at variable speed. Even when it starts, it starts a low speed so that current requirement is as low as possible. So you rarely reach so called "peak" current and hence you get maximum savings.
  3. Since today morning my memory card has become write protected. It means I cannot add/edit/delete from the card. I tried every possible trick in the book without any luck. I am using Note 2 (USC) on OmniROM with Samsung micro SD HC 16 gig card. I tried formatting it through android, windows, diskpart and even Linux. But no luck. It shows all the content but many are with 0 bytes. Luckily I was able to copy my pictures on PC. The card was working fine till last night. I exchanged few pix with my wife through bluetooth. I could not find any solution on the net. Please help me. Is it possible to get the card working again or not. Coincidentally my colleague card also has the same problem about 2-3 weeks ago and his card is still not working. He is on S2 (GSM).
  4. ^^^ @Ami1 thanx for the support and help. I don;t feel the efforts are worth the cost. Thanx again for your gesture. I am planning to buy a new card.
  5. ^^^ I tried with clearing disk attributes but result is same. I never connected it to any Apple device and I tried formatting the card on various laptops/PCs with different card readers without any luck. Even low level formatting is giving error and Chrome Image creator also failed. Low level formatting error: Format Error Occurred at offset <number> : 1117 -Device I/O Error. Number is I guess sector number of the card.

  11. Buying a new car? Discuss here!

Thank you everyone for the response. I am buying car for city used only (95%). I know that EcoSport is not an SUV but I liked the shape and it is different. I generally buy a car through a broker who said EcoSport is not that great. He might be thinking of resale value. Now need to convince my bro and other family members for EcoSports. Will keep you posted.
  12. Buying a new car? Discuss here!

Planning for a new diesel car. Budget about Rs. 8 lakh. I'm keen on EcoSprots (diesel) might have to stretch the budget. But many say it is not that good. So need some real users review or someone can recommend. Other options are Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Dzire or Honda Amaze (least preferred). Experts please reply.. thanks in advance.

  18. Medical insurance advise

Anyone here opted for Religare medical policy. They are providing double benefit. There is a clause whereby I can claim twice the amount insured and all agents are banking on that. Also free check up every year at SRL diagnostic centres. The offer is quite tempting. But the problem is that they are too new for this. Other aspect is, the market is already flooded with too many insurers and it is not money making business. The market is such that no one can afford to provide such benefits. Its open market and they might do initially to get customers and after quitely withdraw all the benefits. Relinace also had many tempting offers and all were later withdrawn and even claims were not passed as per policy. The reason is that one of my relatives is involve and his after us like anything.

Reliance Communications to raise call tariff by up to 20% Source NEW DELHI: Reliance Communications, India's fourth-biggest mobile phone carrier, will hike voice prices starting April 25, the company said in a statement, to counter an increase in input costs and higher spectrum payments. Reliance will increase tariffs on discounted and promotional plans for its prepaid customers by up to 20% and raise headline call tariffs to 1.6 paise every second from 1.5 paise, it said in a statement on Tuesday. Reliance and its main rivals, including Bharti Airtel, India's top phone carrier, and the local unit of Vodafone Group, last year raised voice prices for the first time in three years as they continued to cut discounts previously offered to lure customers in a highly-competitive market. Carriers have seen the benefits of reduced competition after several smaller rivals were forced by a court order to either shut down or scale back operations. "We continue to focus on growing profitable/paid minutes on our network and the current tariff hikes are part of our continued efforts to reduce free and discounted minutes, and offset the ever-rising costs of input materials," the company's chief executive officer, Gurdeep Singh, said in the statement. Indian carriers receive more than 80% of their revenue from voice call services.

  21. Indian Politics - The Dance of Democracy

I got below article and not sure whether it is truly appeared in NY times, but really worth reading... Here is an article from New York Times. While many of our own papers and tv channels deplore India, here is a view from THE INDIAN ELECTIONS - NEW YORK TIMES It is truly the greatest show on Earth, an ode to a diverse & democratic ethos, where 700 million + of humanity vote, providing their small part in directing their ancient civilization into the future. It is no less impressive when done in a neighborhood which includes de-stabilizing & violent Pakistan, China, and Burma. It's challenges are immense, more so probably than anywhere else, particularly in development & fending off terrorism -- but considering these challenges & its neighbors, it is even more astounding that the most diverse nation on Earth, with hundreds of languages, all religions & cultures, is not only surviving, but thriving. The nation: where Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism & Sikhism were born, which is the second largest Muslim nation on Earth; where Christianity has existed for 2000 years; where the oldest Jewish synagogues & Jewish communities have resided since the Romans burnt their 2nd temple; where the Dalai Lama & the Tibetan government in exile reside; where the Zoroastrians from Persia have thrived since being thrown out of their ancient homeland; where Armenians, Syrians & many others have come to live; where the Paris-based OECD said was the largest economy on Earth for 1500 of the last 2000 years, including the 2nd largest, only 200 years ago; where 3 Muslim Presidents have been elected, where a Sikh is Prime Minister & the head of the ruling party a Catholic Italian woman, where the past President was also a woman, succeeding a Muslim President who as a rocket scientist is a hero in the nation; where a booming economy is lifting 40 million out of poverty each year & is expected to have the majority of its population in the middle class already, equal to the entire US population, by 2025; where its optimism & vibrancy is manifested in its movies, arts, economic growth & voting, despite all the incredible challenges & hardships; where all the great powers are vying for influence, as it itself finds its place in the world. Where all of this is happening, is India and as greater than 1/10th of humanity gets ready to vote, it is an inspiration to the entire World. — V Mitchell, New York, NY Sent from my SCH-R950 using Tapatalk 2
