P. K. Daga posted a topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
CHANDIGARH: Aditya Birla Group company Idea Cellular on Thursday launched a new tariff plan for its postpaid subscribers in Punjab offering call charges at 50 paise per minute. “Idea postpaid subscribers availing the Jumbo offer can now make local and ST D calls on any network for just 50 paise per minute. Moreover, it also offers reduced roaming incoming charges at 50 paise per minute,” said an official release issued here on Thursday. Idea has also introduced a plan 'IDEA Pre to Post' through which existing prepaid subscribers can convert to postpaid plan by paying monthly rental of Rs 50, the release said. The other tariff plans introduced by the company for its postpaid subscribers include 'IDEA Value 125', 'IDEA Super Value 200', besides 'IDEA Pre to Post' plan. The new plans come with monthly rentals in the range of Rs. 50 to Rs 250, it said. Idea Cellular had acquired B K Modi-owned Spice group's 40.8 per cent stake in Spice Communications last year. Operating in 22 circles with total subscribers' base of 40 million, Idea Cellular has targeted to cover 95 per cent of geographical area of Punjab from 80 per cent at present. - PTI -

It is called Smart where Reliance Telecom (not Reliance Communications) was operating GSM service in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Himachal Pradesh and West Bengal. The "Smart' brand name is being removed and will be named as "Reliance Mobile" soon, already done for Orissa. Assam and North East have been missed, even there it has not been changed to Reliance Mobile from Reliance Smart

No, you will not be able to use it in Reliance as of now.

Tata Indicom, More Economical Than Reliance?
P. K. Daga replied to vvinayakpai's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
I am also of the same opinion except one thing in which Tata has got clear advantage, Reliance does not have their CDMA network in North East and Assam but Tata has. In voice quality, I would rate Reliance one step higher than Tata. -

If you decide for gsm, Airtel blackberry should be the first choise, they have a plan for 6999 for one year blackberry charges which works out around 580 per month. But as Amitji mentioned, CDMA technology is much better in terms of data transfer capabality.
