I would suggest you to go for Local Cable tv operator for a few months by renting his Set Top Box. And when Reliance launches Blue Magic in a few months shift to that. Because once you make an investment with either Dish TV or Tata Sky you wont be able to switch to Reliance and we all know Reliance will be the cheapest. So wait and watch....... Abhishek

Reliance ADAG set to launch new technology, bets big Press Trust of India Wednesday, 01 November , 2006, 14:52 Bangalore: A media innovation company of Reliance ADA Group (Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group) is all set to launch a new technology - CHOIS - that could make Direct-to-Home (DTH) services obsolete and earn the company up to Rs 1,000 crore in revenue through royalty and fees in two years. "CHOIS (Converged Home & Office Integrated Services) technology, which we have been developing for the last ten years, is ready for launch immediately... within a few days. We will license it to a few global operators," Mohan Tambe, Managing Director, Innomedia Technologies, said here. CHOIS technology, which has been in the pilot stage with 5,000 users for the last four years, is capable of delivering digital TV channels, personal video recorder, video-on-demand, Internet browsing, VoIP telephony and video serving facility. It is a complete end-to-end technology, which provides all the building blocks for constructing a fully dually- redundant, Ethernet everywhere, fibre-to-home network (called Netway), providing 100 Mb symmetric bandwidth to each home and office, he explained. The Bangalore-based company said the technology's human interface is a set-side-box, called CHOISpad, a Hexa-play device for delivery of services to end-users. "The global operators we are going to sign, in turn, are appointing franchisees which are the cable operators and they move into each and every home and office", Tambe said. "We are launching simultaneously in India and some other countries, including the US". "In two years time, we expect some ten million (one crore) homes to be covered", he said. "Then, after three years, it's expected to be 100 million. It's an exponential kind of growth. The idea is to make it cost-effective so that no home is missed out". The company would earn revenues through royalty and technology service fee. "We expect to take around USD 4 dollars royalty for all technology building blocks and a small technology service fee of 2.5 per cent. The idea is not to earn upfront but earn along with the success of the technology in the field". Sounding extremely upbeat and excited, Tambe added: "This will work out to be a model which will get more than what any other company in the world gets from any services, because these (CHOIS technology) services are going all over the world... even a small fraction can add up to much bigger number". From this technology deployment in the marketplace through global operators, the company expects revenues in the order of at least Rs 100 crore to Rs 1,000 crore in two years, he said. Asked if the company expects to add Rs 1,000 crore a year to the Group revenue after two years, Tambe indicated that it could be much more. "It will be exponential thing. It (CHOIS technology) is just like any of those multinationals...the way they earn wealth outside (through royalty and technology services fee). We are earning in dollars from all over the world". Tambe said most of the Multi System Operators (MSOs) in India want to sign up with the company, adding that some of the major MSOs themselves will become global operators because they have local cable operators as franchisees. He said the company is launching the technology at the right time. "Right now, cable operators need to upgrade network. Otherwise, they will be obsolete. DTH (Direct-To-Home) threat is driving all cable operators to us. Because they (cable operators) know that they have to provide much more than what DTH can provide". Tambe said the company invsted Rs 60 crore to Rs 70 crore to develop the CHOIS technology, which also uses CHOISpads for its head-end servers and streamers, allowing a world-class head-end to be made at one hundredth the cost elsewhere. CHOIS technology, he added also has dually redundant routers and gateways, which are easy to install and use as amplifiers and splitters used by cable operators.

Hii Guyz! I was also a Reliance Customer for more then 3 years in DAPO scheme but finally I have shifted to Hutch. There are both benefits and disadvantages of shifting to Hutch. Benefits 1)Excellent Customer Care 2)Good Tariff Plans 3)Most of the people I know have Hutch so cost benefit for calling the same network 4)Being in GSM no restriction on choice of handset 5)You can shift to any network you want anytime while keeping the same handset 6)Reliance is soon coming in GSM so you can expect cut in prices by Hutch and Airtel too Disadvantages 1)Clarity in network is better with Reliance 2)Tariff Plans are a little cheaper in Reliance not much difference though Also I have purchased Nokia N70 for Hutch so I would like to compare it with Nokia 6265. 1)Price for N70 is Rs.17000 and 6265 is Rs.15000 2)N70 is Series 60 phone and 6265 is Series 40 phone. 3)N70 has dual camera for video conferencing and 6265 has a single camera 4)N70 is 3G capable and 6265 is CDMA 5)In N70 you can store unlimited SMS depending on size of MMC(upto 1GB) and in 6265 you can only store upto 100 SMS 6)N70 comes with Nokia LifeBlog, Antivirus and Yahoo Go! whereas these are not available in 6265 7)N70 comes with BoxPacked DataCable and CD which is not provided in 6265 8)N70 is much more stylish in looks as compared to 6265 9)N70 has a much better battery back up then 6265 10)The only disadvantage of N70 is that it has a resolution of 176x208 whereas 6265 has a resolution of 240x320 So guys I have given my views on Hutch and Reliance and also Nokia N70 and 6265. You are free to give your views on whatever I have posted. Thanks Abhishek Mukim

Hi guys. I got a message from Reliance just now saying that enjoy Unlimited R world, videos and Ringtones at a monthly rental of Rs.249. I think it is very expensive and I dont think any one will subscribe for this service. By the way guys I am confused between Nokia 6265 and Nokia 6280......... which handset to buy? I am attracted towards 6280 because it has dual camera,is 3G capable and comes in semi black colour. Also with this GSM 6280 handset you are not stuck with one operator. Do you think that 3G will be launched next year and we will be able to do video conferencing then? Awaiting your comments. hi vicky! How is the silver colour looking how is the phone to use? Can u provide me the number of Nokia Dealer in Pitampura? Will he give me the set for the same price? Thanks Abhishek 9312211258 ____________________________________________________________________ YESSSSS........... If you are lucky enough then you might get it for same price.... I am saying this because i think the guy who sold me was not very aware of the demand of this handset... so i think he might have taken only nominal profit and thus sold me at a reasonable price... Silver colour looks very nice... since black colour is not launched so can't compare... but still looks very attractive... The no. of that dealer is 9891040226... And about the phone... I think it is the most amazing set i have used... all features are there which one would have asked for... photo and video quality is also great... I also liked this WAP feature... you can browse internet just like you do on your computer... NOW MY QUESTION IS.... I have a postpaid connection... I have not taken this R-world membership which is 25 Rs per month... Now without taking this membership, I have been using WAP and surfing internet using Opera mini... How much will i be charged in billing... Also, using WAP can i also download mp3 songs from internet... Is there any good site for that... Thanks for the information. However the persons cell is switched off now. For R world charges open the link http://rworld.relianceinfo.com/RWorld/html...ld_charges.html Abhishek

Thanks for your reply. vanitanigoo dont u think silver colour will come off after a year or so? I am currently using LG RD 2130 and the silver colour is peeling of the handset and i can see throught the handset only after one year of use of the handset. Dont u think black would be a better choice? Do you have any idea when black will be available? Thanks

I have seen the handset packed at Mobiltel(Beside Sony World) at Sec 18 Noida - he is selling for 16300/- Now i m thinking hard if i really need this expensive handset Which colour was available over there? Was it total Silver?? Was any other colour over there? Thanks Abhishek Mukim
-
Hi does any one know if Black and Silver colour is available with Reliance or not as shown in there brochure. Thanks Abhishek
-
Oops! I just called up this Nokia Priority Dealer...and he says he did not sell any 6265, infact, he says hat he never got this handset from the distributor and will get the stocks tomorrow only... It seems to be me that after tapping the market demand, he now wants to charge more and is not willing to sell it in 15500 anymore. Any other dealer/WW/WWE selling it at reasonable rates in East Delhi? Cheers! I have heard that the Nokia Priority Dealer in Sector 18 Noida is selling it for Rs.16200. Not confirm though. Thanks Abhishek

So can a Data Cable do whatever a bluetooth can do like a) Data transfer R Connect c) Sim Card Reader / Writer How much does a original and pirated Data Cable cost. Thanks Abhishek Mukim
-
Well I would surely suggest you to buy the Bluetooth dongle. You can wirelessly transfer data and also connect to the internet(R-connect).And it can also be used as a Memory card reader and writer. Also it will work with all Bluetooth handsets so it will be usefull even in the future. Its small in size and very easy to carry. Hi Can you tell me the speed of bluetooth? So u mean we can browse the internet wirelessly on our pc through R Connect? Can we use R connect with the data cable also? Thanks Abhishek Mukim Yes we can browse the internet wirelessly on the Pc using Bluetooth dongle.Well the speed depends upon the Operator but talking about Bluetooth speed then not much of a difference as compared to data cable.I agree Bluetooth transfer maybe a bit slow compared to data cable but not a major difference.Yes you can also access Internet with data cable.I have pratically used both the methods and I would still prefer Bluetooth dongle. The Bluetooth dongle acts 3 in 1,you can transfer data+access Internet+Memory card reader/writer.So by paying between Rs 350-Rs 500 for Bluetooth dongle then you dont need anything more. How can a bluetooth device be used for Memory card Reader / Writer? Dont you think if the speed of data cable is faster then data cable would be better cause it does whatever bluetooth does. So bluetooth doesnt have a edge over data cable. Thanks Abhishek

the box doesn't contains the data cable... it needs to be purchased separately... Thanks. Actually I am pretty confused which colour to buy. Currently I am using LG RD 2130 which is similar to the Silver Colour on 6265. The other colours are not available in Delhi. So can anyone suggest whether I should buy the Silver colour or wait for Black & Grey to be launched. Abhishek Mukim
-
As of now the grey and silver handsets are launched... atleast to my knowledge the black one is not yet launched... Did you get a datacable with the handset? Thanks Abhishek
