Motorola Phones: Reliance CDMA Data Issue On Android 4.4 Kitkat
dskumar replied to vakharia's topic in Motorola
Gurus, I hope My Problem will be a caution to others who try something noobish without going through the instructions correctly . Also Hope against hope for some solution. I had been using a Moto X 1055 ( US Cellular ) on Rcdma and was facing all these network problems. I kept searching for a solution and Someone somewhere suggested that I can Upgrade my OS to Android 4.4.4 using RSD flasher in fastboot mode Without Checking properly I donwloaded the FXZ file of Verizon , edited the XML and tried to flash it through Fastboot . Unfortunately for me the process started and the phone was half written when suddenly the Service provider Mismatch error caused the update to cancel itself. Now my phone is only going in to Fast boot mode. I tried to flash US cellular 4.2 through fastboot but it fails in step where it says downgrade is not possible. I read all over and the only safest method is for me to wait for US Cellular to release 4.4.4 ( which seems like never as now the latest news is they are going straight to 5.0) Until then my phone is only a softbricked Paper weight, which I charge often in the hope that some day the update comes through and on that date I can flash without having to wait to charge my phone. Is there any other Solution for my problem ?- 64 replies

Reliance Jio - Pan India 4G / LTE network
dskumar replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
In Chennai AFAIK I could not see even one tower in the City. Where as outside city ( Oragadam Opposite to Velammal collage ) I saw one tower. And also outside chennai places like Salem Erode etc.. I saw these towers on the Highways. Could it be that Jio is going to be a very late entrant in Chennai ? -

Update Verizon Fascinate i500 to Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich and Jellybean
dskumar replied to joshm's topic in Samsung
Thanks Joshm, flashed this rom too. Due to some reason while using superclean the data speed was less than usual, May be my imagination, but the stock seemed faster, so was on stock until TSM Resurection. Flashed today, as of yet data same as Stock. -

Very Sad. A genius and a visionary, who knew what people wanted and how to give a best experience. He made Apple stand up again after continous failure. The Iphone when first introduced ( Which was after he joined apple back ) was a real gadget to own for both the geeks and the normal people. The first phone without any key board or stylus, and only one home button. He had great guts to release it in market and knew how the reception will be. Even the Ipad once chaffed at by many has now become a must-have , with lots of alternatives springing up daily. A guy who made technology to be combined with Beauty to introduce Class. R.I.P Steve Jobs.

Samsung Galaxy Note - Writing The Next Chapter Of The Mobile Industry
dskumar replied to rajanmehta's topic in Other handsets
Wow, looks like a mid way between mobile phone and a tablet. Pricing would be higher side though, at least until competition comes in. -

Hi Friends, First Let me wish you all a happy new year. Now I have been using this phone for the past 4 months, and I have speedtest.net app on it. I notice that the speed is almost always a constant of 240 to 300 kbps even if the EV reception is Full. Is this normal ? Other friends who have this mobile can you confirm ? I ask because I also have bsnl gsm 3g with a HTC legend, and the same app I get up to 3 MBPS download speed. Also another problem I face in this phone is that the tower information is not constantly updated. For example, I have this mobile in my pocket, and if I look at the tower , it shows full . But, I try calling , it does not connect. Then, after a 5 seconds the tower goes to just one point. I think this is a problem because of older version of Android. Has any one successfully installed newer version of Android on this Mobile ? Thanks.

Fantastic Specs "that promises HSPA+ data rates of up to 14.4Mbps and also support tri-band UMTS" Signnn.... We can only dream of such speeds on mobiles may be in another 50 years.

Hi Friends, Thanks for your reply, I got a Samsung i899. Only issue I notice is that when I keep the data on at all the time, it costs me really High. I am on the EV mode, ( I previously had the Samsung TV Handset with my Reliance Pre-Paid Number activated for EVDO and used the same OMH RUIM to Samsung i899 ). I mean, one full day data usage and with may be some 20 calls and 5 text messages Cost me almost 300/- My Full data usage would have come to a max of 40 MB. I thought that the General plan for the Broadband + for prepaid mobiles like Corby TV was 10P / 10 KB ( was informed by one of the Reliance Webworlds in Chennai ) . Now I don't know if there is any special plans based on Data any special recharge for Prepaid Mobiles. Can any one inform me ? @@ Mufaddal Bhai - Sorry I am going off topic : I too was of the opinion that the calls in GSM should connect even if there is Data activity , the data should be interrupted and calls should connect. After all a mobile phone's primary activity is for Voice communication. But none the same , this problem is existant in GSM, and I wonder how I am the Un lucky one to get the full blow of it. Obviously in 2G when the mobile is active in Data call, it cannot accept Voice call simultaniously. This was a problem with GSM version 1 and they upgraded it ( but most operators did not upgrade ). In this upgrade, when there is data communication in the mobile and when a call comes in the Telecom company sends a packet data to the mobile to interrupt the data communication and for the voice communication to connect. Due to some misfortune this never happend to me . During my 10 years with Hutch / Vodafone, I have changed aleast 10 Sims and 20 Handsets. Only handsets where I did not have the problem was with the ones where there was no Data Access ( Basic Mobiles ). I got fed up and when I noticed that I did not have this problem in Reliance under EVDO with the corby TV, I switched to reliance full time and got the Samsung i899, selling the TV mobile to my friend. I don't know if I can give links for website here . Mods Sorry, please edit if I should not. Source : http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=61e3a6c8d8070707&hl=en

Hello rimwebians, I am seriously considering buying this phone. Only problem is I have a htc legend gsm on vodafone. The main reason I went for an android device was to have push like gmail. But to my astonishment I came to know when I srarted using the handset that when you are using the edge connection the android phones do not accept voice calls. The callers get a message sayong the subscriber is not rechable even if iam in I have full signal and other vodafone mobiles near me are able to receive calls. This is a known issue with android mobiles . So iam guessing this issue is only with gsm android phones. Can anyone using the samsung 899 confirm me if they are able to be active on evdo and are able to receive incomming calls ?

Hi all, I am Sathish from Chennai. Hmmmmm, I have been a member of this forum since long time but I came across this introduction section only today. Guess I was too much involved in the latest devolopments that all the guys posted that I never even got a chance to go through the General chat section. Hi to all, especially Chirag , Munnamobile, racoon, linuxguy and all you people out there. All the discussions in this forum has always been a great help Ciao

Hi Manivannan, No, I dont think that would be necessary. All I did was, Just configured my linux box as per the instructions in the forum , I have pasted here the extract from the message posted by deepu , not to take away from her any credits : To access the Net from your Reliance LG phone, first you need to configure the data modem present in the phone so that it can be used as a dial-up modem. For this, from your phone menu go to Settings >Phone>Data Settings> Data Baud, and set the Data Baud to 115200. Issue the following commands to configure the phone's modem. # modprobe usbcore # modprobe usbserial # modprobe ftdi_sio After this, your phone will act as a serial modem. To check if your settings would indeed work, issue this command from the same window. # usbview This opens a window showing all connected USB devices. If the window shows an entry called 'USB---Serial', it means your CDMA LG phone has been detected successfully. By default, Linux uses /dev/usb/ttyUSB0 as the device file of the phone. However, you can create a symbolic link for it, which is easier to remember. We created the link /dev/modem for this as follows. # ln -s /dev/usb/ttyUSB0 /dev/modem And used this link in all subsequent configurations, instead of keying in the entire /dev/usb/tty USB0 path. Configuring PPP dialer Next, you need to configure the PPP dialer on your Linux machine so that it can dial out to the Internet. To do this, edit the /etc/ppp/option file and fill the dialer configuration as given below. lock asyncmap 0 crtscts modem defaultroute usepeerdns onauth ***** /dev/modem 115200 The onauth alone, I had to change to noauth and after that I did this too . But May be this step is not necessary : Go to the /root directory and create a file called .ppprc, which should contain the following. user <Your-Reliance-Phone no> password <Your-Reliance-Phone no> Now After this, fire up x, Go to KDE. open KPPP , click on configure. Under the modems tab, click Query modem. If your modem setup is successful, you should be able to query though, all the AT values will be empty. And then, in the Accounts tab, click on new, choose Manual settings , u could add any name. In the number, type #777 and click on add. The method of authentication should be PAP / CHAP. And Thats it. Hope it works. Happy surfing.

Hi Manivannan, Great to know that you use linux. I use a different flavour of linux - Mandrake 10.1 - But I just tried the instructions posted in the rim forum for pcq2004 : http://www.rimweb.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2318 and alterd it slightly et voila.
-
Hi Manivannan, I know these are basics, but did u check the Data Baud rate ? Is it correctly at 115,200. Because for me the Baud rate was set to USB, which I had to change to 115,200 for LG 5130 Also, if your modem driver is installed, did you try connecting using windows dial-up rather than using the r-connect software ?

Hi Deepu , Thankyou very much for your instructions I was able to modify the same slightly to make my LG 5130 with a grey market USB cable to work with my Mandrake 10.1 linux. Only difference that I had to do to the /etc/ppp/options file was that instead of giving onauth I had to give noauth and instead of /dev/usb/ttyUSB0 I had to use /dev/USB0 And finally instead of using these scrips, I used the kde s default dialer kppp and tried it with the phone number #777 and the username and Password as my mobile number, And IT works Thanks all.
