has Anyone tried using Kaspersky Anti Virus....? its russian... i've tried a whole bunch of AV and finally settled for this....the very best piece of AV I've tried.... DONT take my word for it...google on it and read a coupla reviews... btw, the AV definitions are updated every three hours by default !! ( if v want, we can get new definitions Every hour!!!

Yes symantec makes Norton.... but for some reason, they like to product it as two seperate group of products... like under the name "symantec", they have Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition Symantec AntiVirus Enterprise Edition Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine Symantec Web Security ...and atleast a dozen more products !!! And similarly, under the name "norton" , they have Norton Internet Security 2005 Norton AntiVirus 2005 Norton SystemWorks 2005 Norton Ghost ....and so on..... THOUGHT I COULD GIVE ATLEAST TWO OPTIONS....

ganesh....i read a lotta not_so_good_things about the sp2 built_in firewall... pls do consider a seperate Firewall... check out this utility called "leaktest"....tell s u how effective ur firewall is.... Leak Test ...its sorta like that "Eicar test" for AV appz... LOOKS LIKE I CANNOT ATTACH .EXE FILES(GOOD SAFETY PRECAUTION)....i have tried to attach it as a .jpg...."save link as", change the extension back to .exe and run it...hopefully it works

has anybody tried a program called DownloadStudio ?... its the most COMPLETE piece of d/l utility if i have ever seen one.... u have to try this to beleive what im sayin... tho i have settled for IDM(after a coupla others) as my default d/l manager, i keep this - Download studio for more er...'sophisticated' downloads... its almost an offline_downloader kinda thing... download files, programs, pictures, audio, video, flash, Web sites and FTP sites ! ~ u can search&download for stuff several links deep in ANY website (u select how deep to dig) ~ u can select what kinda files u want to download ~ U can limit the max bandwidth to be used by it ~ U can download and capture streaming audio and video !!! beleive it. ~ Supports all popular internet protocols - HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, MMS and RTSP. i personally like this one filter "download all jpg >15kb" this way u can practically rip an entire site of its images without any of the unneccessary_repetitive banners and logosfrom the site(coz these pics would be less than 15kb, and so d/lStudio skips them!) i can see so many potential uses for this last one... check it out Conceiva Homepage Trust me, ur gonna luv it.

Tanveer, try this - there is a mozilla extension called "Download with..." it lets u add to the right_click menu an entry which lets u to download with flashget or DAP or Getright etc... Firefox Plugin- "Download with..."

ok buddy...I'll take that piece of advise...will stick to sp2..it IS actually quite stable...never had any "crash" r anything (ups failures dont count right?) let longhorn sit idle for coupla more months...

U guys heard of the Eicar Test ?? its a kinda simulated or mock virus thats used to check how effective ur anti-virus really is... its quite safe - its NOT a virus... STILL I ADVICE U TO READ THE LINK PAGE B4 U D/L AND TEST-RUN IT...COZ THERES A NOTICE ON THEIR WEBPAGE WHICH READS "Important note: You download these files at your own risk." it comes in 4 different flavours...progressively tougher to detect(for the AV app)...i have attached the fourth double_zipped version here...if u wanna run a quick test, d/l it and run ur AV scan on it...If ur AV can pick the "virus" inside the archieve, U've gotta winner !! If ur AV does NOT detect this...then maybe u can try scanning the easier_to_detect_versions....OR u can do the sensible thing of getting a better Antivirus eicarcom2.zip

whats the actual price of a legal registered version of Windows XP Pro ? i heard its Rs10,000 ++ !!! this so ?? and Office xp is even more costlier than windows xp?

thanx ganesh, i need some specific advice here... i currently have 98(C:\) and xp(D:\) installed on my machine - from here, how do i do this FAT to NTFS conversion ? does this invole re-installing my OS(s) from scratch ? i guess the conversion is of use only if i convert the system drive (D,in my case) ? do i need to convert all(c,d,e,f) drives to NTFS? if i leave my C: drive intact, then my 98 will remain safe ? also, i heard something like - even in a dual_boot system, thers is only ONE bootable drive....is this so ? the concepts behind are quite alien to me...advise pls....
