  1. Problem With Ppc 6700

oh then its something else... where is ur phone from ? what rom u were runing previous to this error and anything in particulare u did to offset this problem...
  2. okay although i dont remember having any such issues... i hope u are using Total Commander to copy and replace the existing file... and that the hidden files are shown in its settings... then there is a second procedure but it means that ud end up losing sync of time with reliance (which honestly aint an issue)... You can just search the reg for "PhoneExt_Service.dll" and rename the value to something else (like xxPhoneExt_Service.dllxx) then soft reset - that will keep it from loading. Another possible "solution" to this (credit to kdoweb) is to write-protect the log file (you can use total commander to do it). He did that and noticed the log file size stayed the same and no new file was created. I do not know of any other consequences to this, but it's something else for people to try. Here is a fix for one little bug. If you have the commManager icon enabled in the system tray at the bottom right, it will not launch the CommManager. Just add this reg entry. Code: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\WirelessMgr\LaunchApplet] "AppletName"="CommManager.exe" (string)
  3. Problem With Ppc 6700

its not a problem prakash... the phone is in bootloader mode which is used to upgrade a phone. to get out of it u should press the two soft keys simultaneously and poke the stylus to reset
  4. @amitoberoi... just to confirm... have u applied the phoneext_service logfile fix? @everyone someone apart from me who has used this fix and still has any issues? i am getting a normal battery drain now nd phone is as responsive.... nd no luckily no hang-ups since upgrade...

    thx Arun !
  6. Kalpak... great line of thought... to begin this thread ! I am an entrepreneur too but belong to the service industry... the other day i saw a rear view mirror (BT enabled) which works as a clip display for ur phone. it also has a small little handsfree built in. btw blaupunkt already has a range of in dash players which have BT built in!
  7. Petar... have u tackled the phoneextservice.log issue which i have mentioned in my post earlier... it leads to the two problems u seem to be having... Dhiraj... this one is pretty good too and the fact that this has the new core drivers makes it closest one could get to wm6. once u fix the phone log thingy its pretty much as stable as C release... and I second Tanveer's idea of having the C also available alongside...
  8. Shubhanyu... this release 3.5.4 D does not have any radio upgrades so ur claim for 1.1 ver of radio is well actually the existing radio on ur ppc before and hence after the upgrade. i would suggest u use the link on the first page or search the forum for the radio version 1.41 from bell mobility and upgrade apart from the rom... it can be done in isolation also... hope that solves ur query !
  9. i feel that programs that monitor ur calling... like auto sms or call firewall use the cpu and perhaps make the phone feature of this pda even more sluggish ! ur thoughts Petar? on another note... PLS READ CAREFULLY AND FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE there is a file in the root folder when watched, seems to be growing in size constantly in this new rom... its called PhoneExt_Service.log this is known to present a battery drain issue too... cause this log essentially logs every signal level change hence keeping the cpu working constanntly... to resolve extract the attached file and copy the phoneext_service.dll to ur \windows on ppc... then in the root folder delete the logfile... hit reset and hopefully the logfile wont comeback to haunt ur phone... i suggest everyone using this rom do the above... TEST_Phoneext_service.dll_from_Apache_AKU2.zip
  10. Tom, Tanveer... glad u guys liked the dialer... the ##codes are mostly epst based commands to browse ur phone settings... though its not much of a loss since there is a ready made shortcut folder hetal has put in the rom for these commands anyways... Petar... how do u know before answering a call whether its an irritating mktg call or someone else...

Arun, request for watersigndj >> Dj (if its not already taken !!!!) thanks-it-done !
  12. I Want To Buy A New Handset

all phones compared... reliance network is the reason these phones have bad battery backup... having said that, my usage suggests nokia phones usually outdo the others in battery standby no matter how short... go for the nokia 2865 over lg... just a suggestion !
  13. dont be that hasty... try it for a bit... the two things that seem to be inoperational at ur end really are a universal problem... look beyond !
  14. for the benefit of those getting their cell site flash(name of ur city or area) as they boot the phone or move around changing cell sites... well a change of dialer could help... i picked up this iphone dialer... however be prepared to sacrifice smart dial or ## codes from the dialer if u upgrade to this dialer. heres how it looks no the smart dial does not work even if u can see it here... get it here [LINK]
  15. Dhiraj, 1. A2DP, as hetal puts it, is choppy on this phone even after best of efforts. i had sleepless nights trying to get it to work and finally have a way out... a few registry tweaks coupled with using mortplayer is the answer. 2. Communication manager not working can be treated by simply removing the icon from the tray and then assigning it to one of the buttons. like i use button 4. 3. the multicoloured line on the top of the screen well actually is a battery meter... for ur preference to remove browse to \windows\startup and delete the battv.lnk or Vistahidebatterygauge.lnk file... soft reset and u wont see it come back again. 4. time lag issue is something there aint any way out of... reason: the device in suspend mode puts the cpu operational at 108mhz (which is scaled down from 416mhz when awake) to conserve battery. now for it to answer a call the device first wakes up... scales up... then picks up ur ringtone (worse if ringtone on sd card cause then even that needs be woken up) and finally rings... u cant blame it for a 5 sec lag for so much work its like lightening and thunder... u see the backlight come on and then finally hear the ring come... its windows media mobile for u... take it with a pinch of salt !! i would suggest u migrate to the new release of the rom...
  16. no no that was not to demoralise u or hijack ur attempt at being resourceful... just that whenever we post utilities then the asscociated details being posted along help ppl evaluate decide wether to download it... pls... feel free to post as much as u want...
  17. Tom... pls post a screen shot of the dialer along with the upload... makes it easy... and does smartdial work with this dialer... what about ## codes?
  18. well the idea of a basic stripped rom hasnt skipped our minds and we 've been working trying to put one together !
  19. Microsoft Direct Push Technology.

ah i think he got it for us from some other forum... take it with a pinch of salt guys !
  20. heres hoping for a quick recovery and uniting of ur ppc
  21. Best Laptops

i use an ibm z60m and an hp dv2214tu... i would suggest u with ur config to get the hp dv2214tu as not only would it be in ur budget but also work wel... the looks are an added bonus
  22. @stormlifter... first and foremost reflash the phone with hetals rom after removing ms.nbf from the rom folder on the pc. hard reset the phone (hold two soft keys simultaneously and hit reset with stylus and clear storage) before u falsh. now once flashed and u thru the welcome process hit reset again without letting the phone customize. get it back to bootloader mode after this and reflash with verizon ext rom(assuming u on verizon) from its site or from ppcgeeks.com and let the phone boot...
  23. oem is good as long as it works... although u have brought us close enough to wm6 already with ur rom hetal !
  24. Installing Usb Modem Drivers For Ppc

its thre... in the pda2k... folder there is the .inf file which is what is required...
  25. Planning To Buy Desktop Pc!

saidk, i would support kshah's view... i have an amd athalon 64bit based processor and an intel core duo based laptop. to me more than the speed of the porcessor, its the quantum of ram that makes more sense... its the graphic accelerator card that u use and the hard disk capacity with speed that matters. think of it as a bottle. the flow (speed) is directly propotional to its neck (ram) and not its belly (hdd and cpu) i learnt it the hard way that based on hype and our limited knowledge we always end up paying a hefty premium for "latest technology" whose potential we are barely able to exploit in our daily use. so first and foremost identify ur usage of this desktop pc and then based on this decision move forward with the configuration u want. as far as i can see our most essential usage is that of net, word or basic data processing and multimedia. amd works well and is a cheaper option to meet ur needs as well as an intel cpu but inturn u can push in more rom and a larger TFT screen or graphics card. like i have 1 gb of rams on both my systems and a 19" tft with a amd processor and 2x80 gb hdd with a dual layer dvd burner on the desktop and it works super fast... so rather spend on the goodies than buy a similar power wala intel cpu over an amd one...
