GTD also reminds me of a very good and close frnd of mine... battery problems with the 6700 are well "problems" owing to your nature of use... i can get a whole days juice out of mine... almost 2 hours of talktime over bluetooth with some music and browsing thrown in... now i am almost always away from my desk at home or office when at site so my phone is pressurised to go thru more than a 24 hr cycle without a second taste of a power dripping socket so on those days i tone down the brightness to the minimum but one... the backlight goes off in 10 secs and i make it a point to suspend the pda when on a longish telephonic conversation... so that works for me... if u have stints longer than 24 hrs or have more talktime then i would suggest u to invest in a spare 1500mah li poly battery which then adds 120% backup when used in conjunction with the 1350mah li-ion battery of this phone. squarely put, just as ur 6265 lasts with battery, would this phone depending on ur ability to tweak its resources...

Jayant my initial thoughts when getting xv6700 were identical to urs... i have been using a treo 650 on gsm and have to say i am over pleased with it... but come to windows based palms and they are not quite there yet... endgadget.com describes the treo 700w and wx as being a b*****dy cross... windows wont accept it and palm almost disowns it... haha... but there is one thing u must reflect on... windows based palm aint that great in its conformity and utilisation as is the original palm. cdma palm 680 or 700 would be difficult to migrate on reliance but 700w and wx, if delved into, might just turn our way as hetal suggests... reading b/w the lines, i would suggest u get either a ppc 6700 or wait for the ppc 6800 (to be available soon)... that is with the resolve that u wanna migrate to a windows interface... if u want to stick to palm my friend then gsm is the safer bet... just my two cents...

glad to be of assistance !

tom... yeah for that ud have to start>settings>notify me... thats where u have to uncheck start on boot... moreover using total commander browse to /windows/startup nd remove the link to notify me from there... hit reset...

@Tom... there has to be a colour setting for the font... else there is a built in utility with the rom called 6700 hacks... in the 5tab u have an option to change the start screen text colour... however this changes the text colour for all plugins on the today screen. if ur problem is spb diary specific then there has to be a setting in the software like in today agenda which i suggest using over others coz its very light in its memory usage and does pretty much... @dhiraj.. like hetal says, this rom is more agile and stable as compared to the stock rom which came with ur ppc in the box... like mentioned above stick to the code of flashing... remember to clear storage at all stages using the two soft keys simultaneously and reset (process called hard reset) and u should have this rom working in no time at all... and when i say working its more like rocking ! make sure u upgrade the radio too to have best out of ur ppc... which out of the box is pretty sluggish and unstable... i have over the past few months of owning this phone, flashed all the roms available over the net... built a few too but have to say this one is as good as it gets... take our word for it over urs... @tanveer... activesync is pretty jinxed as far as usb connectivity goes... it seems to have a mind of its on... browse more forums for this one and ud see the galore of sync issues it churns up... just his one small utility... dont give up on it though... keep pushing... it solves the problem 7 out of 10 times... most of the times a reset of the phone and computer works at resolving the issue...

i think we should start a new thread with additions and suggested drops from hetal's next upgrade ;-p it'll give him a reason to upgrade again

to answer a few... read inline...

glad to hear so thunderbird !!

it was only justified our forum also had this thread with everyone posting snapshots of their today screens... Let me start this thread here... Using: two really basic today plugins... 1. rltoday with my own customized skin using clear glass icons for applications 2. Today Agenda... i like it better than pocket breeze... its lighter and simple to use !

Thanks DJ, gonna attemp that right now Just downloaded all the cab files, do I install all of them? yes all sprint related cabs... hope it helps...

just goes to show the deep sentiments apple and its products go onto urge... its a cult feeling... i feel it too with the ipod blasting in my ears... bring on the iphone maaaan!!!!
-
heartbreak !!! i was already lookin for someone to push my phone onto i mean not that u would give in that easy hetal
-
@saidk... best laugh i had reading ur post as far as iphone went... cause till now its purely desire oriented... u know i read something similar on edgaget.com when iphones first review came out... claiming it was as god as an ipod's next generation with an added phone feature so expect nothing more... i think we should leave it at that... ipod has a lot to be desired too... thing i miss the most is bt stereo... not to say the inability to get music off the ipod... and so iphone wont leave us wanting in lacking... its the legacy u see but having said all the above... I STILL WANT IT FOR MY MUSIC!!! but only once the 2nd or 3rd gen is out... not this one...

thunderbird... whats perhaps happening using hetal's rom is that the customizations are happening according to the indian cdma network 'reliance' that hetal has put in his extended rom. for u to have a sprint based settings u need to first put the phone in bootloader mode. flash with hetals rom (after u have removed the ms.nbf file from the folder)... once flashed, hard reset the phone... let it boot... one thru the welcome process and at the first appearance of a white square window on ur screen saying customizations will start in 3 seconds... HIT RESET using ur stylus... the action needs be quick enuff for u to skip having hetal's customization... now let the phone boot again and voila u have a flashed phone to 3.5.4.c rom. now all u need to do is go to ppcgeeks.com and pick up ur carrier specific extended rom and run the cabs on ur ppc... think this should pretty much do it...

hey hetal... a little late this time around in trying ur new release... but i have to say i loved it... it feels lighter too... though my biggest regret on it somehow is the network message which is area specific, like for me being in lucknow it flashes from time to time as "lucknow" on the screen... bc sms enabling u said would stop it... tried it too but nothing happens... pls work around it as a special request... ur earlier releases tackled this somehow and i was so disheartened when after the final boot i got it on the screen... good work on though on this rom buddy ! cheers !

lets make hetal know these findings so that he dumps it too from his new rom and saves a little more of the 'valuable' space !

safari fr ppc? reviews for the win xp version claim it being a tad bit lower than even the IE 7 leave aside firefox... as far as flashing hetals rom goes... i wonder what problem u could be having... i must have flashed and reflashed his rom a dozen times... and the bulk of the applications on it which i never used inspired me to look into getting myself a rom... and came the helmi's kitchen... though im yet ot learn how to add oems to it
-
oh then to u already in a pit as far as battery issues go... network unavailability drains battery faster than reason... even i have kept xcpuscalar a safe distance away from my phone for the time being
-
hype and looks aside (which definitely surmounts all reasons to buy this beauty though...), the sheer ability apple has to come out with a winner in a phone is what needs a mention. its true that their ipods have surpassed a 'cult-status', its more than just music... its the simplicity. and with iphone they have taken this to the next level... i have my eyes on it too but only when i am sure i can transfer my existing music on it rather than being able to listen music bought from itunes specifically... so perhaps that could be a make or break factor for me...
-
Kshah, u used the new core helmi_c's r4 kitchen to build this rom or went the custom rom tools way abt doing it... i have build one too and am on it for the past few days... ofcourse the inspiration and insight comes from hetal always... i have kept mine downright simple to make it work and respond faster... just abt putting the bare essentials...
-
so in line with the developers suggestion that we shud overclock nd let be rather than autoscale...
-
oh that sounds good... lets see it deliver since me already using it now that u've released it...
-
hey sadik... i think we should urge him to also build a basic stripped version of this rom with the new core and radio for most members here that arent power users but would still like to use their upgraded and fast ppcs and install the things they choose to have on it...
