sos !!!! i am just not being able to connect to rconnect thru internet sharing on my laptop. it works fine on the ppc but not on my laptop. first i tried the usb way... 1. i attach the usb cable to phone and laptop... ppc starts charging and activesync starts. 2. i start internet sharing and just as it begins to connect, charging on the phone stops. the network it created on the laptop also disappears and i get the dreaded "usb device not recognised" using bluetooth pan 1. phone in the laptop but it doesnt recognize its services of PAN... 2. it just sees A2DP and file transfer and handsfree... so busted again basically... help me find a way guys... hampering a lot of my work while i travel !!!!

There were several posts indicating ActiveSync turns on by itself eventually drains the battery. found this method on pdaphonehome forum... heres how you do it... 1) Start up AS on your phone. 2) Tap the menu tab/soft key and tap "Add Server Source" 3) Configure a server source with a dummy IP address, user id, password and domain name; these do not have to be real 4) Once configured you should have another sync source show up on your main AS screen...continue on. 5) Tap the menu soft key again and you should see that the sync schedule option is no longer greyed out. 6) Change your schedule from a timed automatic start of AS to manual under both fields 7) If you try to sync now, AS will try to contact your imaginary exchange server and that will take forever until it times out, so you can now delete the exchange server from your list of sync sources. Your changes to the sync schedule will remain and will survive soft resets too. If you have a switcher app running (like magicbutton or vbar) you will find that when you close AS it will now stay closed and you should see a corresponding increase in speed.

Yeah Rajiv... This sure does sound fun and ofcourse is the future of the net... its just like in the case of FWT/FWP taking over the traditional landlines... life seemingly becomes so much simpler... i have a bsnl unlimited@256 connection at home and end up cursing my "line-man" almost everyday for a little disturbance that keeps coming on the phone rendering the net connect edgy... but when it works... it does like a charm... so this wimax thing is gonna be a treat for most of us mobile users... lets see the filter efect and how long it takes to get to us finally... u can Cal sooner than me in Lucknow !!! hahahahah !!! cheers !
-
i bet they never could have thought abt that one hahaha !!!

2 cents... I use Jabra bt500v... trust me i dont feel its there at all... with its elegant behind the ear design and jabra's enviable performance... charge it and forget it... seems to go on forever even for heavy users... its a deadly combo... price wise i think ud get it sub 3k... For stereo bt i use the jabra bt620s... jabra again... i tried the sony... jabra beats them hands down as far as sound quality goes but for the size... for me i like the sound quality so everything else is secondary.. i would suggest u to go for the jabra if not bt500 then atleast the bt250v... u wont regret it !

I've been waiting for something like this for a long time as I always found the battery icon pretty useless. I can make sense of a number! Awesome! greenbatteryfix4.zip

tanveer... ofcourse u can download anything u want provided u using the opera browser and not pie while browsing on this handset... battery time depends completely on the way u use the phone... mine lasts more than a day of a lot of smsing... listening to songs thru bt for two hours odd... callin upto an hour... and wifi two or three times a day for mail... but the crux is that i keep the brightness of mine close to minimum and that sure saves battery power... i use the stylus mroe than the keyboard unless smsing when i dont close the keyboard too often while chatting lets say.... then i follow a complete charge - discharge cycle... charge only when i get a 10% warning and then recharge once there again... just my two cents....

great work arun... how abt post counts and post reply notification.... cheers man !!!

yes the 2gb card works flawlessly... i use transcend... also have a pqi... and no it doesnt slow it too much. price varies... i got mine along with the fone from the US and they were for $30 for two... but my guess is ud get them arnd inr2000. i have the verizon ka original cover which fits well but just tried a nokia ka cover nd it was good too... priced arnd inr200. as far as the screen guard goes... well the one i got is thick and protective enuff and the stylus response time is good... that was my first concern too... so xda atom is the one to get... and i didnt have to trim it at all... it just fit perfectly... so take ur pick !!!!
-
i suppose u mean screen guard right... if yes then i just got one put on mine last evening here in delhi (visiting)... its a pain finding one and after a lot of research the one that fit was of XDA ATOM... so get urself that... Sadik... once that connection is created for rconnect and we connect easy... the problem is placing a shortcut for it and also finding an easier way to disconnect it once done... i almost always get the error code 37 of an ip conflict but using opera (u gave) i can browse easilly... so is there any way arnd these shortcuts...
-
two queries... (i know this has been explained here bfore but starting this topic for the benefit of us all so proper setup instructions remain in one place) 1. Browsing internet on the handset itself using rconnect using PIE... how does one go about it... 2. using the handset as a means to use internet of rconnect on the laptop... the procedure to get it going. riquirement of any 'AT' commands??? seniors pls post step by step procedure... thx

Speed Comparison : Hutch / Airtel Edge Data Card Vs Reliance Netconnect
Dj replied to shuva_nandi's topic in Data services
net thru gprs s**ks... but for those specific time slots like 2am - 4am... my wifey uses gprs on her palm treo and at times we've waited "minutes" to open pages... gprs is okay to retrieve mail and perhaps use the IM... but thats about it... so nothing beating the rconnect so far as mobile internet goes...
