i think this is a beginning of a new trend... was bound to happen i think with the BB's nosediving in their prices... -
trying to answer everyone one by one... yeah this is similar to the pogoplug in concept but pogoplug cannot be ssh and broken into to use the linux platform... defeating the whole purpose of being open source and expandable... at its heart, its purely a linux ubuntu box. you can do what you want with it from the bottom... yes the enitre root fs can be transferred to a usb host and the plug can be booted from there... you can attach a usb hub and attach multiple hdds and gadgets too... i am planning to setup the reliance netconnect usb modem to it... yes there is a tailor made installation available for purchase from the company which is a lamp image... as in you can make a site with database server run off the plug... more than one also if you want... something i wanna do in the near future. the device doesnt have an on or off switch... which ensures it remains on so long as there is power... it boots up without a hiccup after any power outage... perhaps the single most important reason for me to get this... it costed me 9k per unit landed in lucknow... got harrased at the local GPO and had to bribe them... yes as a guest one can log in and share the media made available... you can even stream music but cant see the setup or webmin page... Yes, webserver & database server can be run (preferably something small like SQLite). Both of these run even on Palm PRE (light httpd & Mysql - see here) i've got them installed on mine. However, you can't have too many hits on the server - its more for 1-5 people accessing it. USB harddisk or flash drives also work (mentioned on the plug website. Check for USB HOST if buying some other ARM SBC like gumstix etc.) well there are plugs hosting forums and websites all from one plug... and without any issues... though i would be needing your help setting up a wordpress blog on this man... i am a complete novice with linux... but can apply my mind when shown the direction...

@djain macbook pro 13.3 was the top most on my list... after digging deep i found multiple reviews stating that loading up win os on it, causes the machine to work slower... heat up and yield lesser battery... though that was not the deal breaker for me... i was willing to work with OS X... just the price put me off...

@Anupe well firstly, i got this amazing lappy thanks to Kunal... i was hunting for a timeline 3810T when he brought me up to speed with the asus ul30a-x5 (link)... hua ulta... he ended up getting the acer 3810t and i got the asus... the only downside to the asus is its non-availability in India. i had to buy it from amazon and request my friends sister to get it for me. the laptop is a delight however. i had exact same needs as you Anupe... this one fit the bill best. it costed me 28k in all... build quality is pretty good with a nicely spaced out chiclet style keyboard. weighs just a notch over 1kg with 6 cell battery. the charger is pretty small too. lacks an optical drive and sports a c2d ULV processor... which is pretty zippy even with win7. data processing, surfing and media playing is a breeze with an awesome HD led screen and inbuilt altec lansing speakers. i have not gotten around to installing linux on it yet... but soon will... the claims of a 12hr battery however are ridiculous... with legible brightness, it easily packs 9 hours. i am having a great time with it... oh and yeah, the toshiba looks good too... similar specs but for the weight...

@Arun, i see an ethernet cable running out of the CPE. is there wifi built in? i doubt it though.... assuming we add a wifi router to the setup, will there be interference with the WIMAX signals? have you tried it?

this is amazing... its like putting a tab on rabbits to stop reproducing... we discussed this at length sometime back, thanks to Kalpak... few positive changes were introduced too... but i guess this is the chaff with the grain we need to learn to bear with... i guess its about selective input and output that works best here... you make friends and try and help those whose needs you can identify with... and if at the end of it you feel you were tricked or cheated... well consider it your GURUDAKSHINA

Can Sprint Htc Hero Be Used For Surfing Internet Thru Computer?
Dj replied to scorpionking.9000's topic in HTC
more interesting is to download this app from google. surf it thru your phone browser and just download it. ensure u have use of third and unknown source apps enabled in phone settings. install this and voila, your phone turns into a wifi router and you can use its data connection for surfing on and wifi enabled device -
righto dhiraj... bada hai quite a bit !
