MNP to be delayed by at least 3 months 12 Mar 2010, 2141 hrs IST, PTI NEW DELHI: The mobile number portability, which enables subscribers to retain their numbers while changing operators, is likely to be delayed by at least another three months till July as a system is not yet in place to roll out the service. This was decided at an internal meeting of the Department of Telecom (DoT) today, highly placed sources said, adding the service may see light of the day earliest by July this year. Given the number of operators and as many as 12 billion calls per day, the system has to be in place and this may take some more time, they said. Asked whether by July the service will come into effect, sources said this will be the minimum period required for implementing the service. The government had earlier given the deadline of March 31 for implementing MNP across the country. Minister of State for Communications and IT Gurudas Kamat had earlier informed the Rajya Sabha that the March 31 deadline for MNP would not be met. "Since all networks are not likely to be completely ready by March 31, the deadline is not likely to be met," he had said.

Since RCDMA does not have network in JK , Assam and NE it will not work . Thus prepaid or post paid is immaterial. Tata Indi has network in JK , Assam and NE . For "in-roamers" i.e. people who want to roam in JK , Assam and NE they must have post-paid connections. For " in-roamers " prepaid wont work.

RCDMA ......no service in Assam , NE [ Meghalaya etc...] and Jammu and Kashmir but TATA Indi available. So if you do have to travel to these States go for TATA Indi

In RCDMA , delivery report is generated only when it is actually delivered to the subscriber. In GSM it is generated when it is delivered to the server of the recipient operator

RCDMA definetly best in Bihar. Draw back of RCDMA no services in Assam and North East and JK. When I visit these areas I have to carry my post paid Vodafone

In W299 while sending SMS , the default feature first saves SMS and then sends it. Can any body help in disabling this default feature so that by default SMS is sent without being saved ?

akshat bhai thanks for ur inputs. I got the Samsung Max two days back from Reliance webworld for Rs 6900. The mobile internet browser doesn't work though I tried the technique as advised by you through sms draft connect mode. It shows: error-network down. Any idea how to run it ? Regards Manoj
