1. new figures by TRAI today! says only 0.8 M users by year END!i say y wont it! TRAI has made the most stupidest defination of a broadband considering the indian situtation! TRAI cant realize that companies would just stick to the defination if its profitable for them and not even think of consumers benifit... The correct defination should include "a always on internet connection with min bandwidth of 256 kbps and no caps" i say who even thinks of givin caps in a 256 k connection if we are considering to have a race with contries like CHINA , KOREA, JAPAN or US well if TRAI will ask me i wil say "a always on inter connection with min 256 k , no caps , wireless , and with a public ip" what say guyz i would sujest TRAI to consider my def: and c the broadband suscribers multiply at least all the 5000 members of rimweb would love to take a broadband connection like this wont you

8. RESPONSIBLE USAGE POLICY Sify Ltd. invites all subscribers to follow the responsible usage policy given below. Background: The Internet is the largest shared network in the world enabling people to communicate with each other and access information. In such a diverse environment it is critical that users follow a shared code of conduct which is specified by the various sites. The shared code of conduct is also applicable not only to content but also to subscribers accessing through their respective access providers. The Responsible Usage Policy seeks to ensure that broadband access is affordable to the largest number of people and provides a satisfactory value based service level. The code seeks to ensure that users who have extremely heavy usage do not reduce the quality of service to other subscribers by choking the bandwidth pipes. (This is equivalent, to a resident in an apartment block using excessive water thereby denying others their fair share while paying exactly what others pay). For heavy users therefore we recommend moving on to the data transfer range of service plans which provide dedicated speeds and enable them to meet their download requirements. Policy : For those heavy users who however continue to remain on unlimited products the following rate shall apply : Usage on unlimited service packs will be considered as one calendar day or 150MB in a day whichever is earlier. If the usage exceeds 150 MB in a day, one day in validity will be reduced for every 25 MB of usage beyond 150 MB. This is explained in detail as follows : * * Upto 150 MB utlisation in each day…..No deduction of days validity For every 25 MB utilisation beyond 150 MB within each day, one days validity will be reduced. This policy is applicable from 8 am to 10 pm currently and will come into effect from 9th June 2005. Please note that this is applicable on a daily basis. Hence if on any one day the user has used the normal 150 MB plus an additional 25 MB then the pack validity in number of days will be reduced by 2. However on the next day if the user has used less than 150 MB then only the normal one day validity will be billed to the user. Customer’s who want to opt for alternate packs can contact CustomerCare. In the unlikely event of any subscriber not willing to opt for alternate packs, Sify shall refund the unutilised value of the pack on receipt of a specific letter from the subscriber requesting for the same. Such a letter may be sent by email to customercare@sify.com or by hard copy addressed to Head, Customer Care at the following address : Sify Ltd. 2nd Floor, Tidel Park, No.4, Canal Bank Road, Taramani, Chennai – 600 113 now for the funiest part of it ! according to them they are providing 6 times more bandwidth than any one would require in a day To give you a perspective a normal user can browse very freely within the day and still not utilise the 150 MB limit. Here is a typical usage of the normal user Download 5 songs - 25 MB (approx 5 MB per song but varies from song to song) Mail usage and standard browsing - 20 MB (an hour of chat consumes only 2 MB per hour and an hour of emailing takes just about 8 MB per hour) Exceptional downloads - 20 MB (varies day to day) Actual Utilisation on a normal day - 65 MB Further available Limit - 85 MB Our usage analysis (based on actual usage patterns) show that an average user uses approx 25 MB in a day. Thus, 150 MB is 6 times more than the average daily usage thereby making it more than sufficient to meet your day to day requirements. We are confident that with this step all users will have an even better experience with Sify Broadband. yup and i have taken a connection worth RS 1000 a month just to surf and download 5 songs a day

10. Plans are afoot to open information centres in 2,000 villages across the country with a view to reach benefits of the telecom sector to the rural areas. Department of telecommunication secretary Dr JS Sharma while delivering the keynote address, through video-conferencing from Delhi, at the inaugural session of the CII telecom and broadband summit 2005 informed this. The number of information centres will be increased over a period of time, Dr Sharma said. “India's contribution to knowledge economy has been substantial,” Dr Sharma said. “We are on the threshold of a broadband revolution, but we still have a long way to go,” he added. Dr Sharma stressed that bandwidth will be a major factor over the next few years. VSNL chairman Subodh Bhargava pointed out that although there has been a leap in terms of technology, but various issues need to be considered like, for instance, “are we over-regulated?” or “is there stability and clarity of policies?” Mr Bhargava pointed out that today telecom is less about voice and more about text and images. “High-speed internet access is rapidly spreading its wings. It is going to be the driver for telecom sector growth around the world,” he added. Mr Banmali Agrawala, chairman of CII Maharashtra state council, stressed the need to adapt learning from the telecom sector into other sectors. “Global broadband is a major growth driver for the telecom industry. We are seeing the emergence of a new world order, which requires integration of it and telecom networks. The need is for trivergence not convergence. Devices have become increasingly complicated, but we are now seeing the emergence of easy to use devices with controls out of the box,” according to Sanjay Gopal who chaired the first plenary session. Michiel Verhoeven, GM-communications sector-APAC, greater China and Japan, Microsoft, pointed out that while there were 150 broadband subscribers worldwide, India is at the initial stage. “There is a lot of opportunity for growth. Digital adoption is evolving rapidly. There is a need to make it easier for consumers and businesses to adopt broadband solutions,” he said. Duncan Clark, managing director, BDA ltd, China, noted that India and China together represent 60 per cent of the unserved population. Indian telecom will grow faster than the country's GDP, he predicted.
11. Why Coai Should Be Banned ?

well nobody raised any objections when our very own reliance had "unpaying customers" these people cant c suscribers migrating to diffrent operators. the only reason that they did not object with reliance unpaying suscribers because they were a drain on one of the most sucessful telecom companies in the country! and the non paying customers could do comething good to the company "like increasing the customers base virtually" so they cant digest it ! die GSM die

17. Triband Confusion..

guys i dont trust mtnl for this can ne1 tell me what they actully mean by this! list of triband tarrifs in this there is a scheme called DSL MTNL for which rental is RS 0 and the uploads and downloads are charged (with a * on the scheme) the * = Both the Plans are for limited period only. what do they mean by limited period ?? 1) will the scheme last for limited period and then the suscribers will have to change the scheme to some other bull**** scheme or 2) the scheme avaliblity is for a limited period but the old suscribers can continue with the same scheme what do u think they are trying to say ?
18. Triband Confusion..

the reason i asked this because i was in this telephone 4 internet scheme and they changed the whole rate plan for it (making it to rs 1400 for a dialup connection). and the old suscribers also have to change to this scheme if they wanna continue thats y i was confused with the sent Both the Plans are for limited period only.

20. Mtnl Is Headed For A Big Crash

and normally ??? (without paying any extra sum)
21. Problem In C++

the senirio here is totally changed from the orignal senirio where you needed more decimal points(which only double can support) dude if you need to go with the program (Described in Post 4) then use #include <iostream.h> #include <math.h> int main() { float result,total; int num1=1; int num2=3; int a=0.1234567890; result=num1/num2; result= floor(result*100+0.5)/100; cout<<a<<endl; cout<<result<<endl; cout<<num1<<" / "<<num2<<" ? "; cin>>total; if(total==result) cout<<"Right ans"; else cout<<"Wrong ans"; return 0; } much more memory efficeint due to the use of int rather than double (well its a small prog , so efficency dosent matters here)
22. New Mobile Operator For Mumbai

Can't really explain the phenomenal rise in Airtel's subscriber, a little fishy there , but wouldn't definitely recommend Airtel to anyone. Hear me out - AIRTEL's bad and expensive - only worth taking if you have your friends and relatives on airtel. The customer care s****, offer activations / processing take a long time, and suddenly one day, your balance may even fall abruptly for no reason whatsoever. My personal experiences of all these trials and tribulations with Airtel made one fact eternal : That I HATE Airtel. It is the worst ( on par with trump ) service. P.S. - well, i forgot network congestion, so include that too !!!! And you can send MMSs to only Airtel phones - not even to any email addresses - how insane can that be ? atleast they should allow it to be sent to email addresses, if not other carriers ! 44055 yup u r right ! airtel network is v v v congested
23. Mtnl Is Headed For A Big Crash

What do you mean by a public IP? Every computer connected to the internet HAS to be assigned a WAN or Public IP. 44013 i mean the computer itself
