  1. How Is The Product Key Generated?

The product key generation is different for different applications. The trick lies in making an algorithm, which can decrypt itself to unlock the software - and can be designed in any programming language There could be fixed product keys - generated by an algorithm based on fixed paramaters like windows version etc... (Eg. MS Windows Serial keys). or there could be varying keys generated based on variables like a name - eg. winzip... and yet others which use some constant like machine processor id number as a constant and a name / email address as a variant... So if you wanna learn the art of decrypting the algos... you gotta spend a lot of time understanding API's and some old friendly tools like w32dasm and Numega's killer Softice ... cheers karki
  2. Windows Mobile 7.0

Somehow doesn't that look killer ?? he he he ... anyway ... guess I'll pass at least till the first few months are out with the phone ... knowing the rate at which processor speeds in handhelds have been lingering between 201 - 450 mhz for ages - and I've tested an accelerometer (the same sensors from a K850i) on for load testing .. a samsung processor 401Mhz to be precise was not really friendly with OS + music player + base calls from accelero x,y,and z's So i'll wait to see the devices on which WM7 is being launched ... the size, batt life and above all stablity .. before i venture out into it... Otherwise ... it just looks DEADLY mate cheers karki

  10. Well guys ... This a techie post ... Structure of the SMS in the RD2030. There are three types of messages stored : Inbox, Outbox, UI (unsent messages) What did I do? I backed up all my SMS's and then deleted the entire folder (SMS) using bitpim, then to ensure no snags I, made an empty folder called "sms",and restarted the mobile This was what I saw : After deleting all the files in the SMS folder and reboot 3 files are created automatically, namely : ddraft00 (6 bytes) outbox00 (6 bytes) ui_sms00 (410 bytes) This is what each of the files contain : outbox00: This contains information about the number of messages sent out of the mobile and status, the following is a hex dump of the same : 00 00 00 80 00 04 Here the first three bytes are zeros, the next byte (till what I found always remains 80, then a seperator zero and finally the count of the SMS sent 04 means 4 messages in the outbox (this is a hexdump after I Sent 4 messages.) ddraft00: This contains information about saved (unsent) messages. This has 6 bytes. 00 00 00 00 00 01 First 5 bytes contain zeros. and the last byte accounts for the Number of messages in the unsent messages. ui_sms00: This is the inbox SMS section, where all the sms that u receive are stored First 9 bytes : zero Byte 10 : The number of messages remaining... free space left Bytes 11-54 : Encoding information and message origin details Bytes 55-91 : Last message recd. (used as storage template) 92-410 : Still figuring out (some assumptions... waiting for a postable response) Will update more about SMS encodings soon... What more did I do? Made a small template file where I change values, and fill in the message for the outbox, upload the edited file using BitPim, and then manually send them (numbers are stored... so u only need to open the message->Resend. Need to have a discussion with some others (StaticElectricity are u reading this?) and then make an application to automate the process what say? Cheers, Ashok Karkera PS: If u have any other mobile, the data cable and able to interact with the mobile by using bitpim / any other FS reader. Please post about your mobile also, so that I can work out on a common encoder application. (might come handy if the only option is to upload the message to the FS and then send )
  11. Trust me ... the rule of 10ps for all incoming calls will soon be replaced by 10ps for incoming calls from which are not from Tata or Virgin .. .the reason is simple .. for every incoming call the interconnect agreement and call revenue share is 30ps to the receipient network (under standard tariffs) thus for eg. If i use a virgin connection and u call me from say a vodafone, voda pays virgin 30ps for u to get the call ... In this case virgin is giving 10ps to u and keeping 20ps with it. Now once virgin has a prope customer base - it looses points by keeping the same offer active - if virgin to virgin free comes up or anything ... boom ... I call my other virgin fone for me and i get 10ps in return ... the company will have serious issues with unclaimed network usage and overload.. cheers karki
  12. Actually awesome ... infact it is the same funda that was started by 3 in UK with WePay where a customer receives a few pence for every call received from another network... virgin might launch it for calls from all phones initially (till market cover) and then change rules to calls from non-virgin and tata customers The interconnect charges is the max revenue earned by a phone company excluding the data usage charges ... So well ..virgin is very well capitalizing on the right moves ... the only thing that seems missing in the online catalog's is the conspicious absence of DATA plans ... which used to be Virgin's main forte .. till recently ! cheers karki

  22. We had a Kyocera User Group meet at CCD (Cafe Coffee Day ), Sion. It was a meet that was just decided on Friday, over private phone conversations ... and planned in a Day . The post came on rimweb pretty late... I know that this time the notice was VERY short.. but still we had a good turn up but the only thing that bothered me was the people who promised they would be there (on phone calls / SMS ).. but did not turn up! well .. .getting back to the topic in hand... The reason, I called up for a meet was because a lot of Kyocera Users could not figure out the best way to use this handset - and some of the repairs could be done on the handset without much effort - I can certify this since I recovered my handset from a regular crash(once in 2 mins) and then finally an SRCP [The most dreaded infliction of the Kyocera - that in itself is considered the end of any sane Kyo users - kyo life ] My handset was showing me the dreaded message sometime 2 weeks back - since I was already in the Kadki stage of my life (kangaal for the uninitiated) a repair was definetly out of bounds... I just opened up the Kyo - knowing fully well that I had nothing to loose... gave a hot alco bath, heated the board, de/re-soldered the phone chipset (and to be honest - shorted a chip ), but once everything was put back in place. ... .... The PHONE WAS PERFECT!!! since I was quite confident now .. I decided to call for the meet... and the people who turned up will certify for the same ... I will try to make this thread a complete encyclopedia for Kyocera users ... yeah might have a PDF version soon The innards of the Kyocera 7135 The Kyocera 7135 is a smartphone, it encapsules a PALM OS PDA and a phone, initially i thought that it was all a one show chipset ... but well that is'nt true.. u have a PCB for the Palm segment and one for the phone ... Opening the phone Open the 4 screws on the back of the phone, then apply pressure upwards to remove the back cover ... Seperate the backcover (with the stylus and the antenna) Remove the Phone PCB (2 screws) Hold and lift gently by the sides (Phone PCB) Reverse side (Phone PCB) The plastic + aluminium seperator to seperate Phone and Pda PCB's The PDA section Removing the connection of the LCD Disconnected Screen seperate
  23. Gprs & Mms In China Phone !

  24. Wanna Buy Digital Slr Camera

Hi Hetal, JJMehta provides bills and warranty unless it is a grey market camera and priced less than usual. In fact if you know anyone coming from Singapore, you can possibly get the same from there as the prices are way lower. Lenses from Minolta, Tamron, Sigma, Nikkor etc.. can be obtained cheaper that prices in Mumbai (grey market incl.) if you have anyone flying down from Poland / Singapore / Bangkok. Had got my 55-200 from poland ... sigma was freakin cheap ... got it about 9.5 k that too about a year back. cheers karki
