GSM handsets will not accept the RUIM - the RUIM on some handsets will show u a Intl roaming [R]. when u travel on intl. roaming u are given an actual GSM SIM CARD from reliance - and not a RUIM Card!!! (ps : after a darn hefty deposit!) secondly in USA there is no CDMA player using RUIM gotcha!!!

Rather than the Kyo ... use a Nokia 6255 / 6235 as they are pre-equipped to support AT Send SMS. For a kyo, I'm using a third party tool called mocha to remote control the mobile, using mouse locations and send keys I made an app in VB for my comps resolution which can read the messages from a excel sheet (specific range) and auto send the messages ... which might not be a really feasible solution for you cheers ashok

Better still ... mobile customers on Orange and O2 on certain PP's (VTT1100 / VTT2600 thatz between GBP45 - 100 get unltd internet on the move!! free!! even after 6 / 9 months when they downgrade their PP the offer continues!! I'd call that rocking!! the speeds are on 3G speeds - wireless (do not compare that with BB coz well ... wireless has limitations)! cheers ashok

Not new / box pack anyway ... coz that does not exist anymore mate .. the handsets were manufactured in 2003, and reliance cleared its stock last year .. and the worst f- up was that many of the handsets had the SRCP problem .. which has a really costly solution !! cheers ashok

Sire ... we've been having such discussions for a long long time on this forum. Now each company has its policies ... and some companies might have policies that come with a *conditions apply -> consider reliance to be one of them ... I've been with reliance - having more connections in my name than possibly thought of ... including about 11 RUIM cards :! now isn't that scary ? since most of the connections are pre-paids! the tag line goes - u've got to live with it mate ... or shift to postpaid ... or better still .. use the loopholes !! lolz cheers ashok

mate ... the SMS has a character limit .. the phones processing chip from QC is designed to take a specific amount of load ... now a ebook at the least will have a few thousand characters .... considering an example of a "small" ebook of 500 KB thatz about 512000 characters considering ur phone supports 180 char SMS it is equivalent to 2844 SMS's ... now if the phone's processing is designed to read upto 180 chars ... it might take a little more load and can probably process a few 100 chars more ... but surely not 2844 such blocks .... so it would not even be a wise idea to try .. PS : I did use these fundas during my exam days ... coz mobiles were not banned in my college anyways cheers ashok

Guess a Kyo 7135 takes the cake ... Message store - almost unltd. Compose thro keystrokes ... millikeys ... pkwrite (similar to T9) ... handwriting recognition on grafitti pad ... handwriting recognition on screen thro newpen .. or onscreen keyboard. guess that answers it all cheers ashok

The only workaround is to buy a voice recorder pen that comes with a normal 2.5" jack for mobiles . The rigged version for LG handsets works perfect . but the cost is prohibitive ... the one which I tried had 256 MB memory ... recorded to a QCP and costed about 1650/- which is not worth the money ... coz with dat money u can buy a decent chineese mp3 player which has voice recording too cheers ashok

If u plan to read Ebooks ... move aside ... and buy a Kyocera 7135!! If u are insistant ... upload the ebook as a wap site ... and browse from R-Surf thatz about the only option with a 5130!! CHEERS ashok

Some handsets are designed according to the full Modem implementation which includes messaging options by AT or to be more specific - Attention commands . Now many of the lower end handsets did not implement the AT commands to the fullest - cost cutting. or as in the case with LG handsets (Lower end) many commands have been masked !! (probably operator insistance) now that most of the operators do not have any free messaging plans (except few dapos like me) so the options have come out. Chill and enjoy with the Nokias for the moment !! cheers ashok
