Lowest on resources ... I would bet my butt on using AVG. Accepted that I use a lot more processing power... but still even on my lappy AVG does wonders!! Speed has never really been an issue ... but hey first things first.. learn the art of chucking NAV. Cheers Ashok

Damn true mate .... Flow control .... many times this is what happens one modem in a connection is capable of sending data much faster than the other can receive. Flow control allows the receiving modem to tell the other to pause while it catches up. Flow control exists as either software, or XON/XOFF flow control, or hardware (RTS/CTS) flow control. With software flow control, when a modem needs to tell the other to pause, it sends a certain character, usually Control-S. When it is ready to resume, it sends a different character, such as Control-Q. Software flow control's only advantage is that it can use a serial cable with only three wires. Since software flow control regulates transmissions by sending certain characters, line noise could generate the character commanding a pause, thus hanging the transfer until the proper character (such as Control-Q) is sent. Also, binary files must never be sent using software flow control, as binary files can contain the control characters. Hardware, or RTS/CTS, flow control uses wires in the modem cable or, in the case of internal modems, hardware in the modem. This is faster and much more reliable than software flow control. and that is precisely why some people feel that Hardware error control is better or faster Cheers Ashok

I came to rimweb searching around for ways to change ring tunes in my RD2030. then I stayed back coz discussions in those days were really nice and technical! Once I learnt that u could fiddle around with the innards of the 2030, started my own experimentation. posted the results and found it nice... Loved to code and try my hands on different stuff... and things just happened with the SMS from the net (irisme) thingy! Now ... a veteran here .. this is another home for me... try to login the first to my Y! messenger ... and then straight to rimweb every day when I come online. But seriously I think, we have a lot more potential than just to start junk topics around! let us see some creativity. I am not critisizing anyone. But on the main outlook, we are here coz we like it. so nothing to really think about as to if "rimweb is outstanding / good or poor". I do not think that any sane person who has found a place bad will visit it again... high time that someone gave a nice tutorial about something like fs of nokia handsets / uploading games and more about the 6255 series (coz that is what seems to be hot as of now), and since a lot of people have been asking about the same... well mate ... this error happens when there are a lot of requests passing thro the proxy in your office... or when the firewall finds some content to be blocked! since there is nothing that can be done about this ... since this is a block from ur office... u can try to browse using a anonym-proxy server Cheers Ashok

Thanks for the info mate... but unlike AVG, where with a few reg saves, and a backup, you can avoid the hassle of re-downloading the updates in case u reinstall the OS ... how about things in the case of Zone Alarm ? do we have some choice on that ? will download and try that after 5th dec... coz as of now my connection speed sux cheers Ashok

hi Ashok Manker... I had my fair amount of experiences with ESN Writer... so not mentioning anything about it ! YES FIDDLING WITH THE ESN IS ILLEGAL. so no more descriptions about it. getting to the answerable question : NAM 2 : how many of you tried : http://www.rimweb.in/forums/index.php?act=...14&t=5171&st=0# ? I am sure hardly any ... coz if u had tried it out .. u would not have asked this question. NAM2 is the settings called for when u are on LINE-2 (or whe u receive a call waiting and pick up the second call) even when the mobile registers to the network, both NAM1 / 2 CDMA settings are updated.
