I guess new figures might pressurise Stevie to change his policies atleast for iPhone and for iPad too in coming days when Android based smartpads will also come to the market.

Bharti Srilanka Cries Against Minimum Mobile Phone Price
abhi.r replied to srk006's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Thats real bad news for the sri lankan Consumers. "The telecom regulator Anusha Palpita was not immediately available for comment, but he told AFP last Thursday that losses made it difficult for mobile operators to invest in new technologies to expand their network." and I always thought that competition encourages innovations! -
Dhiraj Bhai, thank you for your offer. Sooner or later I myself going to buy an Android based phone. Regarding innovations... I agree every company (HTC/Samsung/Motorola/Apple/Microsoft/Google etc..) has contributed their part in innovating new things and making consumer's life simpler. Like i said no product is perfect. I belive IPhone or Android they both are new and in their developing stage. Agree with Android's advantage of being open source and developers all around the world is keen to make it better and better every day, makes it one of the fastest developing OS.Maybe this is the reason Google launch a newer version of Android every 6 months or so. But a non tech-savy person do not want much hassel of configuring a phone according to his/her needs then use it. Rather they are happy with a final product which can do the job for them without much of technical knowledge. Example: MS Windows and Linux... Ask a Linux user (which definately has to be a tech-savy guy)... DO you want to swtich to MS Windows?.. He obvious answer would be NO WAY! MS WINDOWS IS A PIECE OF CRAP! (This is what my friend said who is an Engineer in Intel) Ask a normal non tech-savy guy using MS Windows, "Do you want to use Lunux." and his answer will be "No way, its no where near to Simple like Windows is." So both IPhone OS or Android both have their advantages and disadvantages. So it depends on how one look at both of them. I hope you agree with me. @ Dr. Mufi.. I agree with him. In 2007 after the launch of 1st generation iPhone it was everybody's dream to own one even though it did not have basic functions of a common phone of that time like (No video recording/SD Card(But it came with 4GB to 8GB memory, and newer models have upto 32GB so who needs a SD Card)/Bluetooth file tranfer etc..). But everybody wanted to have one. It definately created a benchmark in Smartphone industry. Though I agree with Dhiraj that now Apple's iPhone craze is declining day by day as now there are many comeptitiors. Now a days a Chinise phone costing 1500~2500 has accelerometer in it (i am not comparing Iphone with chinise phones, just a joke )

Why do people compare IPhone 4 vs Android or IPhone 4 vs Wondows Mobile. IMO its not fair for people comparing a Phone with a OS. Android and Win Mo is used by many companies like HTC/Samsung/SonyEricssons/Motorola.... and their total sum of sales they boast is 3.5million where as Iphone itself has sold out like 3million. Yes if people compare Iphone OS with android OS then its a fair game imo. But people buy IPhone because its IPhone. they create a benchmark in the Phone industry and others are busy following them. Still they have guts to boast that they are better than IPhone. Why did any company ever had an Idea to include accelerometer in a phone? Why did any other company had an Idea to make IPad like portable handheld devices? Now when Apple is out with these products, other companies are busy to copy them. I think that IPhone has revolutionised the Smartphone Industry. hats off to them, PS: btw if given a choice i'll still buy a Android phone Following text is from the link posted by you... Apple has just one operating system available for sale at a time, and until recently it made iOS updates available to almost all of its older hardware. Android, on the other hand, suffers from a multiplicity of available devices with new and old versions of the hardware, including Android 1.6, 2.1 and the upcoming 2.2. That can get to be confusing for users, since you have to figure out which operating system you're phone has, whether it's going to get upgrades, and which features you may be missing. Apple's approach is much simpler since it makes available (and supports) only two versions of the iPhone -- currently iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 -- at once. Even better, the feature difference between the two phones is not that great and immediately obvious. Advantage: iPhone Well I agree with them, otherwise people buying Samsung Galaxy i899 wont get confused and complain that their Bluetooth cannot b used for file transfer just because the OS is old and not the latest one. For us tech savvy people its fine, but major proportion of population are Normal people who do not have indepth knowledge about Know/how of a product. They just need a product which they can use with minimum hassles and tech knowledge. The truth is, not one individual android phone will ever best any one of the iphone models in a head to head competition in terms of sale volume and customer satisfaction. Read it in a link given above under heading Steve Jobs confirms: Android outselling iPhone Well dont know about customer satisfaction, as No product is perfect. If a company make a perfect product, then there will neither be any need nor any want for a better product. Thus hindering development. But yes, the numbers of IPhone sold (as an indivisual product in smartphone category) havent been beaten by any other smartphone as on today. Dont know about future... Hope we get to see more and more better products... Good for us Consumers

MTNL Reduced The Broadband Rental For 512Kbps
abhi.r replied to manishag's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
I was using 649 Umlimited plan from Airtel(Delhi), today I called CC and told them that I am getting cheaper deal from MTNL so I would like to discontinue the service, and asked them to put a request for discontinuation. FYI call charges in 649 plan was too expensive. Withing 4 hrs, i got call from retention department and they offered me follwing two retention plans... 1) 449 Retention Plan First < 500MB @ 512kbps... Rest > 500MB @ 256kbps Data Usage: Unlimited Call rates as follows.. Airtel to Airtel (all over India) @ 60p/sec Airtel to others (all over India) @ 75p/sec Free Calls = 0 (Thanks to amit for correcting me, confirmed again with CC) another retention plan they offered me is as follows... 2) 649 Retention Plan Speed .. @ 512kbps Data Usage: Unlimited Call rates as follows.. Airtel to Airtel (all over India) @ 0.1p/sec Airtel to others (all over India) @ 0.1p/sec Free Calls = 100 I took the 2nd one . They said that they are going to activate my new plan within 3 working days. Hope this would help other Delhi Airtel customers. If you have any other ideas to get better rental plans and discounts from Airtel, please discuss and help Rimwebians. NOTE: This plan is for Delhi only, for other circles please contact your regional Airtel CC. -
MTNL Reduced The Broadband Rental For 512Kbps
abhi.r replied to manishag's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
I think after u use your limit of double speed, u still get the same speed i.e. 512kbps in your case till you restart your modem. after that same old 256 kbps speed -

Nothing revolutionary except the screen! I still remember 1st generation iPhone created some revolutionary movements and other companies tried to imitate iPhone. but iPhone 4 has nothing innovative except the High res screen. I saw on the net about Super AMOLED. which can give same performance like IPS Retina Display with lesser power consumption! Hope HTC gets out a iPhone killer soon with Anaroid phone

Hehehe, rehne do fir, main khud hi jaa kar le aata hun
-
Hehe sumit bhai, US jaa hi rahe ho to mere liye INCREDIBLE lete aana. lol

Yes weight and size does matter! I am sure that EVO cannot be used with only one hand like i used to face problems with my nokia 7700 hard to drive and dial or do any activity on phone with one hand on big screen
-
I have been using PPC 6700 as modem for my Laptop (Windows 7 64 bit) without any problem. I am not a geek and dont know how it actually works. But I use rom from hetal (sadly now its not available anymore ) and theres an application named "Internet Sharing". With it its very simple to connect 1X data connection with my laptop using Data cable with just one click.

Oh thats hidden charges... i was so dumb to ignore it. Telco companies revenue is all about hidden charges

$449.99 for Sprint EVO 4G in US (without contract and without any discounts) whereas Verizon Incredible costs $529.99 in (without contract and without any discounts) But with contract both phones are available @ $199.99 I think primary focus of Sprint is to encourage people to avail for Expensive 4G services.

I too bought PPC6700 from Reliance for 33K But thanks to it. Because of that phone I came across this forum and came to know taht Imported handsets too works on CDMA BTW Mufaddal bahi, how is Incredible to carry around? I mean its portability.. easily tollerable to carry into a jeans pocket? or do i need an assistant to carry my phone for me (like in case it wud b if i purchase EVO.. lol) And i guess prices of Incredible(in US market) will surely fall once Evo hits the market. So i guess its better wait.
-
Hehehe Sumit Bhai is really obssessed about HTC EVO. With a price tag of 450$ only i guess its going to be INCREDIBLE killer. Now Even I want to wait (June 4 only(20 days to go)) for EVO reviews (especially concerned about its SIZE n WEIGHT), I really dislike my PPC 6700 for this specific reason only(hard to get it out of my pocket when I am driving. But I guess EVO wont even fit into my pocket. lol Seems like this phone is customed made for The Hulk or Saboo (of Chacha Choudhary)... lol

Oh i thought it already arrived my friend is coming back to India this week from US. So was wondering whether I shud ask him to bring this awesome handset for me or not Hope we get to hear the good news before my freind catches his flight in US. Or else it might be too late

Is it fully functional with Reliance??
-
Eew I saw Unboxing Vids of Incredible on Youtube and i was disappointed to see.. a 25k+ phone having nothing much inside the box My PPC i bought from Reliance came with 256 SD card, Car Charger, Hostler, Docking station, and other usual stuffs. But Incredible box dont even have a pouch or a hostler thats really sad. but still I want to buy that phone
-
Mujhe b HTC INCREDIBLE chahiye :'( :'( :'( i wonder what price tag wud be on it for Incredible working on Reliance netrwork. I am really interested to purchase this awesome phone.

Hi, Im looking forward to purchase a new handset. Currently I am using 3 yrs old PPC 6700 which i bought from Reliance (tbh they put a big hole in my pocket) :'( Now I am confused between 2 handsets Blackberry Bold 9700 and HTC Hero (CDMA) I would like to inform you guys about my preferences/opinion as follows ... 1. I dont mind migrating from CDMA to GSM. Though staying on CDMA will be more convenient. No GSM having as good network as Reliance CDMA can give rental plans like Reliance. GSM is F****** expensive especially when it comes to roaming. :'( 2. I really like to use a BlackBerry phone (never used one before). 3. I dont like the Looks of CDMA HTC Hero. The GSM verson looks sleek n sexy but CDMA one looks like just any other phone. But BlackBerry Looks Cool 4. Person holding Blackberry phone looks Cool himself. But I would like to hear from the people who have used both or aatleast one of them. please help me to decide which phone should i choose from? Or should I wait for more better upcoming models?
-
Thank you Amit bhai. Then I should rather wait for Sadik bhai to get his hands on HTC Incredible
-
hmm thank you guys for your expert advice. thank you acs, amit, sumit and dkaile. so you guys prefer HTC Hero upon BB. Actually i have a gf and we text a lot. around 100~150 msg per day (though its not extreme ). With my PPC 6700 its really hard to text with touch screen (as my physical keyboard's few keys dont work properly ). She can some online on yahoo, so I can use BB instant messenger service to talk to her. Also when I travel, I reallly get worried about batt of my CDMA device . Especially travelling by train. The CDMA device is a battery whore as we all know. And it becomes Battery Super Whore when the network is not present This was my main purpose to bend towards BB. Is it as easy and convinient to type with HTC device (software keyboard) as it is with BB physical keyboard? (i know that texting with BB cannot be compared with that of any other phone, but with with marginal difference I can go for HTC device, never used any of those device BB or Anaroid HTC). Want to have both but cant afford If the difference is marginal only then I might wait a little to get my hands on HTC Incredible ( 8megapixel cam, and 512 ram/rom is WOW hehehehe
