hey ... another bug ... when someone calls, the location name completely obstructs the caller id ... i mean ... im staying here in chennai. when someone calls, the phone displays the "Chennai" banner for aroud 5 seconds ... makes it tough to find who's calling !!!

same LG RD 2030 problem ... enter both the formats ... 0091 format for sms in the "other" section and 098 format for calls as your main number ... no other way !

hey tanveer, all the LG phones have an option called message reminder... does the GTRAN have that option ? if it does, then all u have to do is turn it off ... hope it does have this option

dont quite get the point of this "group messaging" ... anyways u have to send each message to a contact ... so HAVE to select each contacts name and only then stack it in the sent messages folder ... so how are u possibly saving time by doing this ?

Ok... a little more about the 2130. For msging maniacs, theres some bad news. the maximum no of characters supported by the phone is 140 whereas in the good old 2030 it is 160 so be prepared to send shorter messages ... the worst thing is that if a person sends u messages exceeding the 140 limit, the message gets truncated so u lose out on all the long jokes and messages ... hey jacob, any idea if this is corrected in the newer versions of the software ?

the 2030 doesnt have the triggered JAVA sms feature ... but the 2130 does !!! niket, let me know what exactly this thing does and if theres any way of removing it ... i'll try it out on mine and let u know but wanna make sure i can disable it if i need to. how does this thing work ??

correct me if im wrong ... in india since most of us use a dialup connection, we dont have a static ip ... do we ? that means each time we logon, we get a different ip address so unless a company coordinates with the ISP to trace the user, there no way it can find out who the user is ...

the signal seems to be stable ... not oscillating like the 2030 ... R world is fast and u dont keep getting the not connected error message. regarding the net, i dont use r conenct ... so i wouldnt no about it.... the ringtones via sms is still not functional but i think soon it will be

hi ... ive been using the 2130 for almost a week now .... feel free to ask me if u wanna know anything more about it. It has group messaging, although i still havent used it so far. Messaging is a breeze ... the 2030 takes quite a long time and u keep getting network error msgs ... till today i havent got this error on my phone. coming to the backlight, the 2030 has 3+3 leds whereas the 2130 has 2+2 for the backlight and the battery seems to last longer it comes with the travel charger ... there is no desktop charger available (the battery does not have the charging points like the 2030's).... this means no scratching while charging ringtones sound much better than the 2030's tones although i dont find any hot tunes ... they're decent and like chirag said, nobody has found a way to add tones ... so u mite have to stick to the tones provided ! but they're quite decent ... dont worry. it has profiles like the nokia models and u can assign menu shortcuts for ur frequently used menu options it looks very cute !! u wanna know anything more ?

Phone bills set to go down Jun. 23, 2004 Come October and your phone bills could get smaller. Tariffs could fall across the board — for all mobile and fixed-line phones and for all types of calls, countrywide. The cuts will come as the result of a revision in the existing ‘access deficit charge’ (ADC) regime. ADC is the amount that private operators (like Airtel, Hutch, Reliance, Tata etc.) pay Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) to subsidise its operations in low-profit rural markets. On Wednesday, telecom regulator TRAI will unveil a public consultation paper on the proposed changes in the ADC. It will propose a shift from the current system in which BSNL gets a part of what you pay every time you make a call, to a system in which BSNL will get a fixed percentage from the provider’s total revenues. ADC levies are currently 30 paise to 80 paise/minute for domestic calls, and Rs 4.25/minute for overseas calls. The charges are built into the per-minute tariff that you pay to your provider. Last year, TRAI shrunk the ADC kitty from Rs 13,000 crore to Rs 4,000 crore. It now wants to cut this amount by half. The substantial savings that providers will make are likely to be passed on to consumers. “Our intention is to ensure that only BSNL gets ADC as it has the responsibility for rural telephony. But the amount of ADC has to be lower. The emphasis is on moving towards a revenue-sharing regime as against the present call-to-call system,” TRAI chairman Pradip Baijal told the Hindustan Times. Another reason for the rethink on the current regime is TRAI’s desire to snuff out the large illegal overseas call market that the current high ADC on international calls has spawned.

saving it with the 098 format is more than enough for the 2130 as i mentioned ... it works perfectly

its there on the RIM website now guess they still dont have that many hits per day ... they definately need more happening stuff and ringtones to attract ppl ...

hey... jus a wild idea ... why dont u do one thing ... copy that directory from ur friends fone and then try writing it onto ur phone ... jus give it a try and if this guy continues to behave the same, try going to another service centre ... but first try giving the copying a shot ... might just work !!

just got a 2130 today ... the problem is whenever i get a msg from a gsm mob which has the 009198*** format, it refuses to give the name of the sender ... whereas when i get msgs from RIM it identifies ... i've stored the 0091 format in other caller groups for that person ... still no luck any of u 2130 owners encountering this problem ???

finally. ... figured out whats exactly going on ... this will be useful for all the ppl migrating from the 2030 to moonlight the 2030 doesnt recognise the 0091 format and so we had to manually enter this format in the other numbers field ... the moonlight automatically recognises this format ... since i had transferred all contacts from the 2030 to 2130 via pc sync, the other numbers field also got entered in moonlight which had the 0091 format ... the moment i removed this format from the other numbers field, everything worked perfect guess they have thought about it and rectified the defect ... in conclusion, there is no need to enter the 0091 format in moonlight ... just save the number with the 098845*** or whatever and leave the rest to the fone !!!
