I was earlier posting my query on EVO 4G LTE thread but it seems that it would be appropriate here to post it since its more complex now. Hope, mode would allow this. Also, kindly move my earlier posts in this thread. Problem: I am not able to get EVDO network. Problem Description: I have Sprint EVO 4G LTE on Stock ROM(rooted). The MEID is registered and Voice, SMS and 1x are working properly. I am subscribed to MobileNet94 plan. Observations: As soon as I turn on the phone, the network starts to show 1x-RTT instead of EvDo-rev.A:8 which appears on my wife's phone. I believe whoever is using Reliance CDMA and have EVDO coverage must be getting EvDo-rev.A:8 only, irrespective of whether they use data or not. What I tried: 1. Configuring the PPP and EVDO user/pass using the dump file. 2. Manually configuring the user/pass using DFS and QPST. 3. Uploading 10005 and 55 PRL using CDMA WS, QPST and DFS. 4. Downgrading radio version for all available radios. I am now clueless as what could be the issue for not getting the EVDO network. Guys, please help.... Update : Screenshots from cdma field test app and speedtest.

Well, I did S-Off and flashed all the Radio versions available but none seem to get me EVDO signals. As soon as I turn on the handset, it shows me 1x only, seems, the phone never attempts to get EVDO network only! I am now clueless what could be the issue. On my fascinate, I rarely use mobile data but the network always shows me as "EvDo-rev.A:8". Help!

I too felt the same that evdo is not properly configured but I observed 1 thing, the phone never shows EVDO network, even if mobile data is turned off. I reset the phone using ##786# and again reconfigured the settings but network is still stuck on 1x Anyone using EVDO with the latest radio version : 1.12.11.0809 Please comment here.

^ It was set at "CDMA+LTE/EvDo auto". Set to Cdma auto prl but its not sticking after reboot. Also I toggled the radio when changed it to CDMA auto prl but still its 1x only. Help me out guys......kaha gaye sab?

I am facing a strange issue regarding EVDO on RCDMA. Summarizing the whole events below: I was using GNEX with Mobilenet94 plan and with evdo.I changed my handset to EVO 4G LTE using HCC and it was done successfully. Voice, SMS and 1x started working after that. After that I gave request for re-activation of EVDO and got confirmation of the same too. Got it rechecked and EVDO is activated on my MDN. I have uploaded EVDO prl but I am getting only 1x speed. If I go to settings >about> network, I get as : CDMA - 1XRTT What I had seen is that even on un provisioned handsets, if we upload the EVDO prl, it starts showing the network as CDMA - EVDO but that is not happening in my case. Gurus, please help! My baseband version is 1.12.11.0809( I think this is the latest one) can this be the issue?

Must Have Android Apps For Your Smartphone - Part II
phonegeek replied to rajanmehta's topic in Android
With launch of JB, Google announced a very revolutionary(yes, not like Apple's revolutionary ) feature : Delta Update. A delta update is an update that only requires the user to download the code that has changed, not the whole program. It can significantly save time and bandwidth. Many apps are started using it and now the same can be done for CM based ROM too! Now you dont need to download the whole 200MB file for every nighties, you just needs to download 10-20 MB and voila you are on latest CM! This app is not developed by CM team but I expect that it would be soon offered in the CM package. You can download the app here: https://play.google....WFuZGVsdGEiXQ..\ I have used it and it works perfectly but expect some rough edges since its not polished........ I love my Android even more now- 1,081 replies

Apple's Latest Patents Could Spell Doom For Android
phonegeek replied to theking's topic in The Lounge
Apple loses Galaxy Tab appeal against Samsung in UK Apple Inc lost its appeal of a ruling that its rival Samsung's Galaxy tablet computer did not copy Apple's registered tablet designs in a British court on Thursday. The world's two leading smartphone makers are fighting over patents, both for smartphones and for tablets, in courts around the world. The decision is valid throughout Europe and should prohibit further legal disputes between the two companies over the design of tablets such as the iPad in the region. The Court of Appeal upheld a British High Court judgment that despite some similarities, Samsung did not infringe Apple's design, in part because its products were "not as cool". Samsung welcomed the decision saying in a statement, "we continue to believe that Apple was not the first to design a tablet with a rectangular shape and rounded corners". Apple was not immediately available for comment. The company has been instructed to run ads saying that Samsung did not copy its registered tablet designs, both on its website and in selected newspapers. Apple can appeal to the Supreme Court. "I expect this will be the end of the line. An appeal to the supreme court is in principle possible but there has been no indication so far that Apple plan such an appeal", Darren Smyth partner at eIP, a specialist IP law firm, told Reuters. http://gadgets.ndtv.com/tablets/news/apple-loses-galaxy-tab-appeal-against-samsung-in-uk-281515 -

Automate the Web Using IFTTT: Useful Recipes to Get You Started
phonegeek posted a topic in General Technical Discussion
Few days before I stumbled across this amazing online service which can automate lot of things. I rellay love it and created few recipes too. Here is a detailed article on this new service: A relatively new web service, IFTTT (If This Then That) lets you automate tasks between other popular services such as Dropbox, Twitter, Evernote, Facebook, Instapaper, and many others. IFTTT works by telling it what task you want carried out, what will trigger this task, and it will put it into action for you. Channels, triggers, actions, ingredients, recipes... these are some of the terms used by IFTTT, and although it may seem complicated at first glance, it’s actually extremely easy to use. Here’s a practical example in case the whole concept doesn't ring a bell yet... Say I want to keep up with how a certain country is doing in the London 2012 Olympics. First, I enable the ESPN channel and immediately I’ll be asked to set a trigger from a number of predetermined options. In this case I’ll choose “new Olympic medal by country”. Next, I’ll specify which country to follow and create the trigger. That’s the ‘If This’ part. You’ll need to choose a channel for the second portion of your recipe. Since I want to be notified by SMS I’ll choose that channel -- though you can do a number of other things like automatically posting it on social networks or your personal calendar. After activating the SMS channel I’ll choose the ‘Send me an SMS’ action and configure the message to my liking. That’s the ‘Then That’ part. The resulting recipe is shown with a self-explanatory graphic along with options to share it publicly. The process is very easy to follow on IFTTT's site. There are currently fifty different channels, including social networks, essentials like email and RSS feeds, and even Belkin’s WeMo devices to bring IFTTT tasks to the physical world. IFTTT’s tagline is “Put the internet to work for you” and that’s exactly what it does. Of course, you don't have to create all tasks from the ground up, as there are already countless of useful recipes being shared. I've hand-picked a few of my favorites and created a handful others to get you started. Freebies and Deals Receive daily PC game deals via email, IM (Google Talk), or SMS. The deals are sourced from steamgamesales.com’s RSS feed and include data from 9 different stores. Optionally, you can set an alert for whenever a specific game gets a discount and receive it via email, IM, SMS. Get Amazon’s daily Gold Box deals by email, IM, or SMS. If you’re annoyed with too many alerts that are uninteresting to you try creating your own recipe using a specific keyword such as SSD or LCD, for example. Just use Feed as the trigger with the URL http://rssfeeds.s3.amazonaws.com/goldbox. Get notified of Apple’s official free app of the week via email, IM, or SMS. If you are an Android user, there’s also a recipe for Amazon’s Appstore free app of the day notifications by email, IM or SMS. Backing up and Social Networks Automatically send starred tweets containing links to Instapaper to catch up reading later (note: many Twitter clients already include a ‘send to Instapaper’ option but it may come in handy if you use the official client or web interface.) A similar recipe is available for starred items in Google Reader. Automatically send every Facebook photo you’re tagged in to your Dropbox folder. This recipe serves both as a backup and a way to ensure that any photos attached to your name will be accessible to you at all times, even after it’s been deleted from Facebook. You’ll need to sync your Facebook and Dropbox accounts. Save all Instagram photos to Dropbox. Similar to the IFTTT recipe above, this one will help Instagram users keep a local backup of all their faux vintage photos by synchronizing them with Dropbox. Archive your Foursquare check-ins to Google Calendar. Although I’m not a huge fan of check-in based social networks, this one can come in handy while traveling if you want to keep a log of the places you’ve been to -- landmarks, restaurants, and so on -- all with their respective dates on your calendar. Synchronize your Twitter profile picture with Facebook’s. This one is self explanatory and it basically will save you the extra steps to update your Twitter profile picture by using Facebook’s whenever it changes. Others Text to escape. Need an excuse to run away from a boring or awkward situation? This recipe lets you trigger a customized phone call to your cell by sending a text message to IFTTT. You can customize the phone call message or create multiple messages triggered for different situations. Only US numbers are supported. Wake-up call. This recipe lets you schedule a call to your phone at a specific time and day of the week. Text weather. There are a number of weather-related recipes on IFTTT, you can choose to get the weather every morning by SMS, for example, or just a warning to let you know it will rain or snow. Other popular services that are available as channels that we didn't mention here include Blogger, Gmail, Flickr, LastFM, YouTube, Wordpress, among others. Considering you also get to play with RSS feeds, you can potentially create automated tasks for any given website. As before, if you want to create your own recipe you can later share that with other users on the site or borrow existing ones. http://www.techspot.com/guides/558-if-this-then-that/ (Mods, if this doesnt belong here, please more it to appropriate thread). Creating a new thread because we all can share useful recipes. -

Guys, Was hearing a lot about NFC and want to try it out personally, so today got my few NFC tags and started using it. There is a very detailed guide available on cnet which explains every step in a very simplistic manner. Want to share some screenshot of tasks I am doing with it: These are the actions which I have set when I reach home. I have pasted the tag on my door and as soon as I reach home, I just put the phone near to the tag and all these tasks gets executed automatically. And these are the tasks which gets executed when I reach office. And these when I leave office: And here is how much time till now I have saved if I had done the activities manually! The possibilities are unlimited and you can also execute various tasks using Tasker!! I just started to explore it...... I am loving the little robot, a lot more
