There are some posts in MIUI forum that RN3 users are now eligible to get free preview SIM. Anyone got any update on this. Also those who are availing Samsung preview offer, it is essential to take the SIM in the same name or can it be taken in the name of some other family member also? whether a person who is already having one preview SIM can take a second one? http://en.miui.com/thread-314102-1-1.html -

MTNL Mumbai Monsoon Data Offer !!
commonman replied to LTE4G's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
anything for MTNL Delhi? -
I have postpaid connection. Did not send any SMS. Did not receive any SMS. 4G data started on its own. SIM had to be patched after conversion (4/2016 series) and after that 3G data was available before start of 4G data.
-
In my case, 4G signals started without any SMS from either side.
-
Using RJio in single SIM phone may not be wise as VoLTE may not be available when you need to call on emergency basis.

any way to activate 4G pack in prepaid by SMS with deduction from existing core balance ?

Reliance Jio - Pan India 4G / LTE network

No one is disputing that VoLTE also works over data network. But the point its whether it would be billed on per KB basis or per minute/second use basis. If its billed on per KB basis then it would be adjustable against so called Data plan, if it is billed on time basis then it would be adjustable against so called voice plan. Billing of VoLTE on per KB basis is not compliant to present legal framework in India. -
No Delhi SIM is not "patched". Not getting data. Only Kolkata SIM is patched.

Airtel & Idea 4G/3G gives more data for same value - slashes cost by upto 67%
commonman posted a topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Idea Cellular slashed the rates of its 4G, 3G BIG Internet packs by upto 67%, providing more value to heavy internet users who consume data packs of 2GB to 10 GB. Last week, Idea had announced the price reduction by 45% in its sachet data packs. Idea is now offering 10 GB 4G, 3G data pack for just Rs. 990. Idea’s 2 GB data is now priced at just Rs 349, as against the earlier price of Rs 449. Idea users will now get 5 GB of 4G and 3G data at Rs 649 – a 67% more value than 3GB data earlier. Idea’s new BIG Internet packs will give both postpaid and prepaid data users the convenience to download movies, stream songs and play online games without worrying about data balance. Commenting on the recent rate revision, Mr. Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular, said, “While the price reduction in our sachet data packs was aimed at inducting more users into the world of internet; the reduction in rates of BIG Recharge packs now, is aimed at delivering significantly higher Value for Money to our regular internet users. Our consumer research studies have indicated a growing demand for affordable high volume internet packs which we are aiming to fulfil with the new offers.” http://rtn.asia/t-t/20323/following-airtel-idea-cellular-also-slashes-4g-rates-ahead-reliance-jio-launch Airtel has today slashed data tariffs for its 2G, 3G and 4G prepaid users. In essence, the company has increased the amount of data one gets on each plan by up to 67 percent. Airtel’s announcement comes days after Idea Cellular too slashed prepaid data tariffs by up to 45 percent. The moves come after reports of Reliance Jio planning to launch its services next month. Even if it doesn’t launch commercially, Reliance Jio is expanding its free Preview Offer from just LYF smartphones to Samsung Galaxy smartphones and even Apple iPhones. Under the revised plans, a user opting for Rs 655 monthly pack will now get 5GB of 4G data as opposed to 3GB earlier. In other words, the user gets 67 percent data benefit. Similarly, users opting for Rs 989 or Rs 455 plans will get 10GB (up from 6.5GB) and 3GB (up from 2GB) data respectively. http://www.bgr.in/news/reliance-jio-effect-airtel-slashes-data-tariffs-for-prepaid-plans-by-up-to-67-percent/ Now RJio 4G plans are costlier than Airtel and Idea. Expecting Vodafone to also match the Airtel and Idea rates. -
Reliance Jio - Pan India 4G / LTE network
commonman replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
As long as interconnect charges exist, separate voice billing would exist. Particularly since the operator is legally bound to report voice usage and data usage separately. The legal framework of Indian telecom is different from the legal framework applicable in USA. So a 4 year old article written keeping the US legal framework in reference would not have any bearing in the Indian context. -
Today evening my Kolkata number went out of service. Delhi number (on roaming) was working as usual. Network came back around 10. Now receiving 4G signals. Handset is RN3. Speed test from inside the room is good. So 4G is now live in Kolkata

I use it as a second phone for voice & SMS and as a portable hotspot for primary phone which is RN3. So far no problem in sending SMS or making/receiving calls. The main advantage is the battery backup which makes it useful as a hotspot on the move. -
Time to expose their lies all over the social media, twitter, facebook etc.

Reliance Jio - Pan India 4G / LTE network
commonman replied to Arun's topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
The JIO preview SIM come with a basic plan of 100 minutes, 100 SMS and 2 GB data. The unlimited offer got activated only after 48 hours. In those 48 hours, whatever VoLTE calls I made got deducted from the available balance of 100 Calls and not from the data balance. So their software is fully capable of distinguishing between data used for VoLTE and other data use. Commercial tariff is also expected to be in the same lines. They deducted at the same rate for Local and STD calls. -

I am experiencing significantly less speed in devices connected via wifi hotspot. Kept side by side, speedtest gives 5 times more speed in Wind4 itself than the spped shown in connected RN3. Anyone else facing such issues? Is is possible that they have put in some restrctions in the firmware? -

postpaid or prepaid?

In my case, for both my postpaid connections, (one Delhi, one Kolakata), as per latest bill received, credit of 10 GB has been given on the date of conversion, 3G data used adjusted against it and balance expired. They never told that they would be crediting it on date of conversion, they never informed that it whas been credited and the credit did not also reflect in instacare.

@joshm Wind4, if you can get it. Apparently it is being sold on amazon for a premium of upto 2500. Else, Flame 2, with a good power bank. the only deficiency is the battery. Otherwise, a good buy at just 3499.
