Share / Request Reliance JIO Invites
commonman replied to Guru Gopal's topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
For those who started in the first phase of 90 days offer, either Jio has to bring out some commercial/limited recharge plan by the end of the 90 days or extend their preview offer. -
It will need minimum 8000 mAh battery and a dedicated heat-sink

Share / Request Reliance JIO Invites
commonman replied to Guru Gopal's topic in Reliance Jio 4G LTE (Prepaid & Postpaid)
Got an invite via rjio website. Went yesterday to local Reliance Digital. They had only one Wind 4 handset, as a display piece. They were trying to persuade that there have been complaints on the set and tried to push Wind 6. However, when I insisted, they said that I can take the display piece, but no extra discount will be provided. The process of applying for a new Jio SIM took ages as the person handling the process did not appear to be familiar with it and I finally got out of the shop after spending more than 75 minutes. Have just received SMS to initiate tele-verification. But not sure if paying 6800 is really worth it. -
have you got the "patch" uploaded? in my cae, data started after that

Getting notification for a new update. Is there any recognisable benefit from this one? -
I was roaming in various places of WB and Sikim for the last 10 days. I had 3 RCom (pseudo) LTE SIMs with me. 1st Delhi Postpaid 4/2016 series (not patched). 2nd Delhi Prepaid 4/2016 series (not patched). 3rd Kolkata Postpaid 4/2016 series (patched). Initially, all SIM refused to catch any network, even Reliance 3G, even after manual serarch. But after about 4-5 hours, both Delhi SIM caught Aircel 2G network. Voice and SMS worked. There was no data even earlier (due to 4/2016 series). But the Kolkata SIM did nor register wither with Aircel or with Vodafone (as suggested by someone) even after repeated attempts and worked only where Reliance network was available.. May be patching the SIM creates problems in roaming.

walk into any Reliance webstore, ask for upload of patch. They will update the SIM firmware.

I use my delhi SIM on roaming. Mainly for OTP and bank SMS. Manually selected Aircel on 2G. So far working without any issues. Brought my Kolkata SIM on roaming in Darjeeling and Sikkim. In Darjeeling for 1st day, it did not register even on Rel 3G network. Next day it latched on. In Sikkim most places there is no Rel network. This SIM is not latching on to Aircel network at all.

data roaming is free on MTNL/BSNL network
-
Then only option is to get your SIM patched.
-
MTNL 3G has Rs.1 GB - Rs.76 /7 days option i.e. 4 GB for Rs.300 valid for 28 days. One of the cheapest option available. MTNL works perfectly at same cost on BSNL 3G network. I got a MTNL Delhi 3G SIM that works as a saviour at many places while travelling.

GTRAN was the first SIM based phone of RCDMA. I had one from 2004 to 2007 (had to change batteries 2 times). IT was an wonderful phone with flip format. Still fondly remember the set. In fact I continued to use the same SIM till last month, when I was forced to migrate to non-existing 4G.

It’s actually Indian Air Force (IAF)’s own 3G network, named as Air Force Cellular. This Rs 300 cr WCDMA enabled cellular network was launched in October 2013 with collaboration with HCL and Alcatel Lucent India. IAF has given more than 1 lakh mobile phones to its personnel of the rank of Sergeants and above to connect and provide secure ‘end-point’ connectivity to the air warriors deployed across the country. In the phase I of this project the network was limited to New Delhi NCR, but phase II expanded the network across the country. Network is also now shared by Army in many locations. http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2013-10-25/news/43395567_1_iaf-officials-iaf-today-air-warriors

Delhi has RGSM 3G. But connection may be unstable at places.
-
Fully agree. With one rider, incoming calls were made free in March 2003 by all operators, after the announcement of RCDMA on 28-Dec-2002. (I had an Airtel Delhi connection from Jan-2000 to Mar-2010)
