Railways discontinues SOFT (Subh Yatra) scheme without any public information
commonman posted a topic in The Lounge
Some years back the Railways had started the SOFT Scheme in which registered users of IRCTC were urged to become member by paying first year charges of Rs.500 plus tax and renewal fees of Rs.300 plus tax. In return they got points equal to 10% or 4% of the value of the upper class tickets where they were themselves one of the passengers. The points could be later used to purchase confirmed tickets. The scheme was much advertised. It was also lauched through the Minister's budget speach. Railways have discontinued it from 22.1.2013. by issuing one internal circular. No public announcement was made. No chance was given to exiwting members to utilise accrued points. The option for renewal and redemption has beem withdrawn from IRCTC site, again without any intimation. Natually all unused points would be forfeited. As the points were supposed to be valid for a period of three years, even if we assume 1,00,000 members and 2,000 point per member, the total amount by which public has been defrauded would be at least Rs.20 crore. Reliance GSM on Odisha is provided by RTL. In Mumbai and Delhi its provided by RCL. Different company. But try the APN : RCOM.NET or RCOMNET - should work. I have a 3G RGSM SIM in Delhi and have got 3G in Kolkata and Mumbai.

Yes. They have opted for Delhi -
MTS services would no longer be available in Mumbai and Maharastra. They have not bid for licence in these circles.

Railways discontinues SOFT (Subh Yatra) scheme without any public information
commonman replied to commonman's topic in The Lounge
The option for renewal has been deactivated and even valid account holders are not able to successfully redeem points. Link to Official Railway Board Directorate Circular. http://www.indianrailways.gov.in/railwayboard/uploads/directorate/traffic_comm/Comm-cir-2k13/CC_11_2013.pdf Apparently the matter has been kept as so closely guarded secret that even the media has not reported about it. -
The very purpose of 3G is to have voice and data on the same connection. I have two GSM 3G connections R-GSM and MTNL SIMs and both are used for voice data and video calling.

I am using VeeDee10 for quite sometime. My child also plays with it. I would say its value for money. Micromax Funbook is practically same hardware with a slightly lesser capacity battery. So it would also be very good.

Are you sure the MTS modem is set to Hybrid mode and not to Broadband mode? Otherwise the modem would not work in 1x. Make sure to change the mode of the Modem by using on a PC and using the MTS connection software. -

Thanos for the help. Finally managed to get through to their customer care number. Apparently the toll free number works only from mobile. Seems the problem is witj the firmwire. The latest firmware has this problem. Thecustomer care guy noted the problem and mailed me the earlier firmware and mts data settings. On updating the firmware now the modem and router is working fine<br /> -
