  1. Laptop Buying Advice

please suggest a budget Netbook for basic surfing, office documents and pdf requirements.
  2. 26" is a reasonable size. I have one in my 10x10 room. but would not advise 24/22".
  3. 3G Data Charges On Roaming

if you have subscribed to any data pack then there is no extra charge for roaming only on Reliance GSM networks.
  4. Jaipan CG 906 Dual Qwerty Bluetooth FM phone on Shopclues for 1500. http://www.shopclues...pan-cg-906.html never heard of this model. any idea if it would serve the need of a basic user for Voice and SMS.
  5. Android application in-app purchase done accidently

incidentally mine is also vee dee D10.
  6. Android application in-app purchase done accidently

thats why I only hand over my chinese tab to my kid. kid loves it as its bigger. I love it as it has no SIM, so no accidental data.
  7. with the restrictions on LPG, its time to put the microwave, mostly lying idle in majority of kitchens, into better use. except for Dal & Milk, most other Indian dishes can be cooked well. In my kitchen, most of the veggies are first lightly fried on the gas and then transferred to the microwave for the balance cooking.
  8. capacitative tablets with internal 3G SIM are not yet available in below 6.5K price range. those available only support wifi and 3G through external USB data card.
  9. ^^^ I am a satisfied customer of Videocon D2h for nearly 30 months now, out of which first 24 months was free. I got a 26" LCD TV with in built DTH receiver. The "one time installation" was also free. The advantage of in-built receiver is that there is no extra box to hang and there is only one remote I have the Diamond package that now cost me 3840 for 400 days (after considering 25 days free on annual recharge and 3% discount for online recharge) or roughly 288 per month incl. service tax and I get practically every single channel I need including all cartoon channels, sports channels and regional language channels . I have inquired from the local cable fellow. For the same channels, the monthly charge would be more than 300.
  10. Discounts & Deals For Non Electronics/Gadget Stuff

for some reason none of the coupon codes worked for me yesterday, even though there were stock. don't know if anyone else faced the problem.today things are back to normal.
  11. seems like they want to make some quick bucks and exit. so we have a slew of new handsets - all network locked
  12. check if your PC has a old-style 56k modem with Rj-11 connection point (most laptops still have them). if yes, then as per the manufacturer's website all you need is "optiPoint analog adapter". The analog adapter enables you to connect an additional telephone, fax machine, modem (e.g. a PC with an integrated modem card) or an answering machine with an analog interface and DTMF dialing. .
  13. its a good device. I got it from Shopclues few months back. only thing is the manufacturing date is 2009.
  14. I use a slightly different version of this approach. CDMA dumb phone for calls and sms. voice clarity of CDMA is wonderful even on a dumb phone. 7" tablet with GSM 3G for internet access. nothing can beat MTNL 3G plans.
  15. why not using as wifi router. if your pc doesn't have wifi, dongles are available for as less as 500
  16. facebook android app is the crappiest. many including myself use Flipboard to access multiple sites.
  17. kindly please read my post again. my parental house belongs to original Conditional Access System (i.e. STB based) area and I have experienced it for nearly a decade. I can assure you that you DO NOT get better signal quality through cable based STB.
  18. that is the paradox.as usual, RCom does not give any benefit to its existing loyal customers, many of whom may have been interested if similar bundle offers were given to them. very few non-customers may be willing to take a new connection with a locked handset.so no one knows who RCom is targeting.
  19. this scheme would be applicable for existing numbers also or would be only for new connections is it RUIM based since its official set, would EVDO be automatically activated from backend
  20. That may not be the correct information. In existing CAS areas, cable households get all free to air (FTA) channels even without STB. Any move to blackout all channels should be legally dealt with as Unfair Trade Practices
  21. My home in Kolkata falls under the area where CAS (STB for cable) was introduced on pilot basis about 10 years back. Based on the 10 years' experience of my parents I can say that CAS does not give any major benefit to the end users. You are charged practically for all channels as the rates are designed in such a way that no consumer benefits by reducing the number of channels. You are charged more in the name of CAS. The STB are not interchangeable and there is no standardisation. So every time you go to a new location with a different service provider you have to buy a new STB. There is not much improvement in signals and signals often freeze up even with STB. CAS definitely gives more benefit to the cable service operators and channel companies. The cable operators can give more individual connections on the same infrastructure. They also charge arbitrarily for STB. The channel providers earn more revenue based on the number of connections. In CAS areas, the cable operators generally offer few free to air (FTA) channels without the need for any STB. They charge about 100 per month for the FTA channels. So all these advertisement of consumer empowerment and what not is all a great sham. If you have not yet taken STB and are required to take it by 1st Oct, instead of staying with cable, go for a DTH connection. At least you can carry it wherever you go. Among the various operators, in terms of price to quality Videocon D2h offers the best value for money. for about 300 a month, you get practically all the channels (in SD).
