Virgin Mobile Debuts Vdesire !
commonman replied to Honest's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Just for the records, vKewl (Huawei C5330) is available since the launch of Virgin. In Nov, the price was reduced by Rs.500. (no offence to Kamal Bhai) The new set also seems Huawei Made. but model no. is not clear. -
BSNL EVDO data card supports both EVDO and 1x connectivity. It gives EVDO speeds if EVDO towers are available, other-wise 1x speeds which are similar to R-Connect. Further, speed also depends on the distance from the nearest EVDO tower. For anyone staying within 1 KM aerial distance, speed is excellent. Beyond that signal strength starts to drop. Since, its wireless, there is of course ups and downs in the speed and its not constant as in the case of wired Broadband. But BSNL EVDO is better than the 128 kbps connections given by most pvt. players in the name of broadband any day.

BSNL is already offering EVDO in several parts of the country including Rajarhat area of Kolkata. Cost 550 p.m. speed 1.8 mbps use unlimited only drawback - no roaming outside SDCA

Updated : Mumbai Terror Attacks 26 November 2008 !
commonman replied to Honest's topic in The Lounge
TYhey have now moved from killing the common people to taking high profile persons hostage. Yet it seems they were careful enough not to kill any Americans, as for the American Govt., the death of 500 indians is "Internal Issue" but the death of even a single American is a "war against USA". What is disturbing is that in Delhi as well as Mumbai, sp[ecialist cops were eliminated. Seems now the millitants are developing their own brand of "encounter specialists". -
Virgin uses Tata network only.

Virgin Mobile Launches Low-priced 1.3mp Cam Phone !
commonman replied to Honest's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Its HUAWEI C5330 handset and was available for quite some time @ 3999. so basically they have reduced the cost by 500. But this set has driver issues. Samsung Explore (vSleek) @ 2999 is better any day. Earlier internet was free on virgin as they were not decided on tariff. so they were not advertising the Modem function of vkewl and v sleek. now they r asking 60p per minute. -
Gmail Gets Video And Voice Chat !
commonman replied to Honest's topic in General Technical Discussion
G-Talk is still to have group-chat which is available in the web-version. on the other hand the file tfr option is available only in g-talk but not in web-version. there is a need to make both options function equally -
From the site it appears that the scheme requires the customer to provide authorisation for direct debit to Bank A/c or Credit Card. Don't know how many would agree to that condition.

Icici Bank, Dish Tv Launch Banking Interactive Service
commonman replied to @ksh@T's topic in The Lounge
For the last 1 week, the biggest complain of all ICICI customers is that the bank is not putting enough cash in their ATMs. One needs to go to atleast 4 ATMs before getting cash. So whats the use of such services when even the basic banking service is not fully provided. -

Best Wireless Internet Option In Kolkata
commonman replied to fortimepass's topic in Other Broadband Discussion
EVDO is being rolled out by BSNL in a phased manner. So u need to physically go to your nearest Exchange and check. But BSNL EVDO card is linked to landline no. and would work only within the SDCA. -
Tata Blackberry Excellent Plan
commonman replied to P. K. Daga's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
The advantage is free unlimited data plan and unlimited on-net AND OFF-NET calls. For similar payment in Reliance (My Truly Unlimited Onnet:995 + Platimum data:1500) we get unlimited data and ONLY unlimited on-net calls and no unlimited offnet calls. -
Reliance Communications Moves Sc In A Tax Matter !
commonman replied to Honest's topic in Reliance Communications
If the High Court upholds the imposition of VAT, all consumers should move Court to the effect that since the recharge vouchers including talktime has been considered as Goods they do not fall under the category of Services and hence the levy of 12% service tax is illegal. So only 4% VAT instead of 12% Service Tax should be charged. -
The VSleek offer is available on the Virgin Website for quite sometime. But the price quoted had been 4799 every time i have checked and it is 4799 even today. http://www.virginmobile.in/phones_special_offers_vsleek.html So was the price of 2999 a special "error" in the website for some specific time?
