  8. ^ RSS News Gadget already exists in the sidebar. Now to get NDTV news or any other RSS Feed for that matter on that Feed Headlines Gadget, you need to do this - Open Internet Explorer (not Firefox), It looks for feeds on every webpage you visit. 1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Internet Explorer. 2. Browse to a webpage that has feeds (in this case NDTV.com or google serach "ndtv rss feed". (When Internet Explorer finds available feeds, the Feeds button Picture of the Feeds button, located on the Internet Explorer toolbar, will change from gray to orange.) 3. Click the arrow next to the Feeds button, and then, in the list that appears, click the feed you want. 4. On the webpage that appears, click Subscribe to this feed. 5. In the dialog box that appears, click Subscribe. The feed should now be available to Feed Headlines. To display the feed in Feed Headlines, see the procedure below. 9. Hoorrah - SUCCESS It was in fact a AVG and Defender conflict. I first disabled AVG and Defender both; Restarted computer; Checked Explorer; Error of closing window had gone; Again Enabled AVG and let Defender be disabled; Restarted; Problem has not recurred...
  10. ^ how to disable identity theft in avg 8.5? couldnt find it?
  11. Update: Windows 7 working A OK. Except for the Dbase folder problem which seems to be a conflict as both XP and Windows 7 are using the dbf files from the same folder and using in Access and Word, and as we all know dbase4 is a pretty obsolete program; otherwise dbase also working ok; Rest, after this initial hiccups, I am yet to encounter any problems with W7 and have never felt the need to boot into XP since the day I installed it....
  12. Meeting Of Titans... Lets Arrange....

    Bhaiya, hame bhi ticket bhej do... hum bhi mumbai ghoom lenge...
  13. ^ Well, you sure seem a die hard fan of Reliance, my dear friend; but I think most of us on the forum dont share your views. What Service Providers in India and Reliance in particular lack, in my views, is the ability to provide better, faster and cheaper Data Connections on their phones. This is the day and age of Internet on the move and just voice services wont do. Even though the infrastructure is in place, but the will is lacking; Also it has, like its counterparts, the underlying basis of fleecing its customers without providing contemporary services viz a viz its counterparts all over the world. That IMHO is the crux of the problem surrounding our Service Providers...
  14. Windows 7 Support Forum - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums...tegory/w7itpro/ My particular problems Support Thread - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums...1-8cfe2f275c2c/
  15. ^ I am also using AVG 8.5 and tried this resolution, but it does not affect my system even if both defender and avg are running together. All my windows are opening properly under windows explorer and for as long as i desire, except the c:\dbase folder. Whenever I try to open this folder it explorer shuts down by saying "Windows Explorer has stopped working" and sends a error report to microsoft with this content: Files that help describe the problem: H:\Users\STUDY\AppData\Local\Temp\WER2AEA.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.xml H:\Users\STUDY\AppData\Local\Temp\WER7801.tmp.appcompat.txt H:\Users\STUDY\AppData\Local\Temp\WER7822.tmp.mdmp I think this problem is somehow related to my using certain dbf file to merge print a document through word; if somehow someone could help me solve this minor irritant... Other than this all other systems are A OK...
  16. Iphone 3.0

    Yes, without proper and economical data backup, all these high end Multi Tasking Internet Devices are just that.... a simple phone...
  17. ^ This problem seems to be about your video resolution/video card; open in safe mode and check your video resolution; also earlier errors like checksum could be a virus; thirdly you will be able to use W7 for a few days without a valid key but only for a few days; that is why I suggested downloading from site/use a clean iso and use the key you got from Windows site after registering through your hotmail account;
  18. CRASHED - Encountered my first system crash; While trying to restore my computer to an earlier time, for resolving this problem in windows explorer as detailed above, my system crashed and tried searching and repairing itself; tried for 15 minutes, failed and then shut down whole system automatically; Restarted and IT RECOVERED ITSELF, and working perfectly except the windows explorer problem where it is not opening my c:\dbase folder; opening everything else; sent error report to microsoft; awaiting resolution in the next update... working on W7, everything else seems ok for the moment...
  19. Problem Faced Update: Yes, The windows explorer shutting down automatically while browsing a particular folder has surfaced. I am unable to browse my C:\dbase folder. Whenever i try to browse it, explorer shuts down. Resolution is being searched.
  20. Problem faced update: When I set the systems power settings to go into Sleep after 30 minutes (which is default setting by the way) and changed its setting not to ask for user password on wake up; it gave me problem and it would shut down system completely instead of going to sleep; SOLUTION: I disabled its ability to go to sleep and chose the High performance power scheme by default and problem was solved;
  21. ^ 1. I would suggest you use Dual boot in the beginning so that you are comfortable and you can take a full fledge plunge at a later date 2. Clean Install (i.e. format c:) is recommended; I would suggest you do dual boot and clean install on d: i.e. format d: and install on that while keeping all your data on c: intact 3. 99.99% it will be able to detect and install all your devices as your laptop is a recent one; otherwise all vista drivers will work with W7
  22. Windows 7 has better wordpad (with support for docx), better calculator, inbuilt iso burning, better uac and much much more... Run multiple copies of application from the task bar by pressing shift+click the icon (as by default it will open the same window only unlike xp where it opens a separate window on each click)
  23. @amitjain maybe tanveers right that 1gb may be less for netbook usage; i am using on 2 gb home pc; thats why u are facing so many problems; but officially W7 is well supported for netbooks and is less resource hungry; its been said to be even run on celeron processor with 512mb ram and 20gb hdd @tanveer no issues faced so far of explorer, wireless detection and wm player; maybe as i have loaded no separate codecs; also may depend on usage from person to person @kamal Just go ahead, no crashes so far, absolutely stable... just ensure basic hardware configuration... Installing from usb hard disk- - format usb hdd to ntfs or fat32 (with pendrive, it has to be fat32 only) - then convert usb pendrive to ntfs by go to Start-run-cmd and run command convert Y: /fs:ntfs (it may ask to dismount and mount again - allow it) - on desktop insert windows7 dvd and open elevated command prompt with admin rights (by right clicking the Command Prompt icon and clicking open as administrator) - go to X: ; then cd boot; then run the command - bootsect /nt60 Y: and then xcopy X:\ Y:\ /e/f (where X: is the DVD drive and Y: is the usb hdd or pendrive) This will place bootloader and then copy entire contents of the dvd onto the usb hdd; this also installs faster, besides the fact that windows7 is well suited to a netbook.
  24. ^ I dont use Windows mail and neither Windows Movie Maker (most of us dont) as much better 3rd party programs are available, and its not a big job downloading them separately, in any case. I dont see much difference in this Build 7100 from any complete version and I feel it is a complete OS; And I dont see any reason why we cannot use this FREE Software for full 1 year (its supposed to be operational till 30th Aug 2010 even after 31st Mar'10, though with 2hr reboots); so why not experiment with this FREE RELEASE..... At least its a good experience for me upgrading from XP which was not the case with Vista in which I had downgraded back within 7 days and I have not felt the need to dual boot into XP since the upgrade... Day 3 - Fully stable, no problems encountered...
