  1. Buying a new car? Discuss here!

At 5.5L, Liva Diesel will redefine longevity, durability, long term value and economics and interior space for the Indian Car Consumers in the coming months... It may not be filled to the brim with features but it will drive and drive and drive till you drop, and isn't that what a car is primarily meant to do? BTW, Toyota Hilux (on which the current Fortuner is based) became the first car to reach the North Pole. Was seeing a program on BBC Entertainment the other day which awakened me to this fact - http://www.automotop...etic-north-pole http://en.wikipedia....:_Polar_Special Some modifications were made which are evident in the photograph, because it would have been impossible to traverse the ice mountains at the North Pole without those modifications. Even with these added in, it used to suffer days where it could hardly do 1 mile in a whole day. Watch that program on BBC Entertainment if you can get a hand on it or on it's dvd, it's a collector's item. BUT it was a TOYOTA, being driven by 2 middle aged 'unfit' men, not professionals. And they managed to do it somehow, though helped in no small quarter by a fledgling team accompanying them. But there were times when they got stuck and no team member could reach them for hours and they had to manage on their own. Quite a interesting program that. Jeremy made a fool of himself, as usual... lolz
  2. Thanks Rajan, BUT first search a high quality and good deal Blue Ray Player also for me, only then I can watch this. As I have gone totally digital (Playon HD DVR), I didn't get time to purchase a BR Player...
  3. + meid registration + evdo activation. 20-24K is a more realistic price for the headaches those people take and they deserve it. I get at least 5 request a day to activate some phone somewhere and am tired of telling all of them that "I ain't into those things!!" period. Search professionals on rimweb please, pay them and get ur job done. Lots of US import paper weights roaming around.
  4. Just saw this adv in HT today for our HTC EVO 3D that they have launched in India on GSM. The MRP is around 37,000/- and retailing for about 34,000/= on Letsbuy - http://www.letsbuy.c...-evo-3d-p-23281 whereas we are enjoying the same thing for at least 10K less on CDMA. That's the benefit of cdma. HTC is trying to promote this handset in a big way and want's to make it its flagship product (even above Sensation) for the coming few months in India. Comes with same Green Hornet in 3D and also the Spiderman 3D game etc. HTC India's site specifications for EVO 3D - http://www.htc.com/in/product/evo3d/specification.html

  6. OK guys, ASLI HERO aa GAYA..... So the Android Hero is coming/here... I am starting this topic to discuss its pros and cons... First its specifications are here - http://www.htc.com/u...rint#tech-specs Briefly - 528MHz processor, ROM: 512MB, RAM: 288MB DDR, upto 32GB microSD™ memory card, 3.2-inch 320 x 480 HVGA resolution, 262K-color TFT LCD touch-sensitive screen with LED backlight, CDMA+EVDO Rev.A, 5MP camera with video (no flash), GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, WiFi, 3.5mm jack, 128 grams, 1500 maH battery... Wall Street Journal writes here - http://online.wsj.co...2522308908.html Overall, I found the HTC Hero to be the best Android phone I've tested, and a worthy competitor to the iPhone, the BlackBerry and the Pre. Crunch Gear writes here - http://www.crunchgea...ro-from-sprint/ The Hero is Android perfected and it is an excellent phone. I would recommend it over the Palm Pre and, dare I say it, something like the iPhone 3G. It isn’t too much to pay for the best Android phone on the market. more coming.... For actual SCREENSHOTS see page 9 General/Hero Q&A I present to you a FAQ for newcomers or the generally uninformed to find quick answers. General Q: What is a ROM? A: A ROM is a complete system image of the Android operating system. For much more detailed info, read here. Q: How do I install a ROM? A: ROMs can be flashed once you have rooted your phone and flashed a custom recovery image. After that, you can apply a rom zip via the recovery menu. Detailed info here. Q: Where can I find more info about ROMs? A: In the two links above. Q: What is Apps2SD and how do I use it? A:Apps2SD is a script that will do exactly as it implies so you are no longer limited to your phone's internal storage. First you must be running a custom ROM that supports it and secondly you need to format your SD card as FAT+ext2. Once that requirement is met, the rest will be automatic. Alternative you could install a2sd on stock rom manually if you wanted to for whatever reason. Warning: Formatting your SD card will erase ALL of the data on it. If you want to keep it, make a backup. Q: All the Market downloads are stalling. How can I fix this? A: Sign into Gtalk. The two are closely related even though you'd never guess. For an in-depth discussion head over to this thread. HTC Hero Specific Q: How do I root my Sprint CDMA Hero? A: You've got a few options concerning this. There's the auto-root, flashrec method, and asroot2 method. Q: How can I remove pre-installed apps? A: Head on over to How remove apps thread for detailed instructions. Q: How can I get rid of ringtones and notifications I've downloading from showing up in the Music app? A: Create a folder in the root of your SD card called "media" and a folder called "audio" inside that one. Inside the "audio" folder, create a "notifications", "ringtones", or "alarms" depending on your needs and place the files in the desired folder. Example: media>audio>ringtones>custom-ringtone.mp3 (Courtesy: XDA)
  7. NV Data Dump File Creation

people were misusing that dump site and selling it @500/- for one dump to novices...
  8. ^^ I think still the most cost efficient and good brand 32" is from Toshiba at letsbuy - http://www.letsbuy.com/toshiba-32--lcd-tv-32av800e-p-21029 It works to around 16K after discount coupon and I have personally purchased this set from them and very happy with their very efficient transportation service.

  10. Buying a new car? Discuss here!

My favorite brand now with Diesel engines in it's small cars. Dont go by little under powered figures, in real life, Toyota's are the most practical and durable cars with ARAI figure of 23.59 kpl for both the Liva hatch and Etios sedan - http://www.bsmotorin...php?autono=3970 Toyota Etios & Liva Get 68 BHP Diesel Engines http://ow.ly/i/gQID
  11. Buying a new car? Discuss here!

Simple formula to purchase diesel car - If you drive more than 10-15K km's in a year then you will recover the extra cost paid for the diesel engine (approx 1-2L) in approx 5-7 years. Otherwise it is best to stick to petrol if you drive less than 10K kms in year. Diesel engine technology today, is at par with petrol engines.
  12. BIRTHDAY WISHES!

    Happy Belated Birthday Kalpak ji...

^ I'm sorry to contradict, but Tata products are not up to the mark and refinement of their counterparts. Tata Nano's sale has dropped to 1202 units in August from a high off 10012 in April. I would have like them to do better as they are a 100% Indian company but they have been given enough time to improve but sadly have not been able to get their fit and finish right. Beat Diesel will change GM's future prospects. Brio will change Honda's small car status in India. Etios Liva Diesel, when launched in December, will change Toyota's portfolio. Swift Diesel will become India's favorite car shortly. Hyundai's HA may rival Alto but their cars will still not last as long as their good looks. In short the Japanese and American's will rule next year in India's Auto sector. Also more a car is advertised in the media/tv, the less it is selling, please remember this. 14. Buying a new car? Discuss here!

If you dont have the budget then go for the BEAT Diesel whose base version starts at 4.29L ex-delhi showroom; It is a good city car. Otherwise if you dont mind a Petrol then the HONDA BRIO is launching shortly which will be a small peppy car around 4L. Checkout its first drive on autocar -

  18. India Against Corruption - Parivartan

Long way to go before we start congratulating each other!! I hope something works this this time otherwise we might be left with no option but to go for a French Style Revolution, this time not against the autocracy but the bureaucracy!! Guillotine for all the corrupt, someone?
  19. 2 new updates have been received on my EVO 3D and both are very minor updates. There is NO New radio, as has been suggested elsewhere as we are not using 4G here. I have also recieved some widget updated from HTC and one cool one is the Battery Level Widget from HTC, which I have pasted on my home screen. It shows cool bubbles while charging and perfect battery level when not.
  20. Its available for about 1k here - http://www.ebay.com/itm/MHL-HDMI-Female-TV-Out-Adapter-/300590362759?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45fc94f087 & here - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-S2-i9100-HTC-G14-MHL-Micro-USB-HDMI-adapter-/150648809116?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item23135e669c
  21. I saw only 1-2 pieces lying there out of which i picked one. Don't know whether it will still be available.
  22. It was lying in discounted products section of Home Town hence it is so cheap. Its manufacturing date was showing 2007 and was lying unsold due to some reason though in brand new sealed pack. The sound quality is quite good compared to the chinese junk I bought of Convex; Its just like hearing a very clear FM Channel on your radio. Though it cant match absolute cd quality but its quite good. Also display is quite good and very professional. Seems and feels like a quality product. 23. After the new update, now you can take screen shots on EVO 3D by long pressing the power key and then the home button. Image will be in the gallery under camera Shots. Works even on unrooted phones. Source: http://www.rimweb.in...post__p__240940 First post updated with this information.
