Default connection is already set to Reliance on sim 1. Not working for me. Also when wifi is on, it will always take precedence over mobile network. Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using Tapatalk

How did you set default connection? Let's hear the procedure. Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using Tapatalk

^ There is no US locale available. So I changed it to Nigeria and phone started working on cdma after factory reset even on new update. But then Google account does not sync. Then had to remove sim and connect only via wifi. Again factory reset. No issues this time if even India as locale is India. Synced Google account. Started Play store and downloaded app. Then put back Reliance cdma sim and cdma is back to normal. But still to get data. Reached conclusion that Xiaomi basically wants it to function only in GSM/LTE/VoIP. CDMA is just a hidden feature. Cheers... -

One serious issue - I put a Airtel 3G sim to check data speeds. HSDPA connected and speeds were same as my Asus (around 1Mbps) here in Meerut. BUT after that cdma mode stopped working. The phone converted into a GSM only phone. Even after resetting only GSM modes are showing on this new Miui update. So beware. I will now need to port sooner than later. UPDATE : Changed locale to some other country while resetting device (NIGERIA) and cdma mode returned.... LOLZ -

Mi5 connectivity Check specs of Mi5 here - http://www.mi.com/in/mi5/specs/ Check specs of Redmi Note 3 here - http://www.mi.com/in/note3/specs/ Data still not started even on RGE sim, only voice and sms. Have raised complaint for backend support, hopefully by evening. Otherwise porting to to be rescheduled little earlier than planned. Wanted it to last till Jio starts. HSD to 55333 is also not working and it says your request could not be processed. So backend support is needed. -

So received the RGE OMH sim and it should be up and running tomorrow. But I was speaking to a Reliance Webworld friend and he told me that the EVDO is not activating on the RN3 because on cdma mode it's meid shows as all 0 which is blocked by Reliance at the backend. And it can easily be activated but needs backend intervention and a complaint needs to be raised and that is how people have been able to get RN3 work on Reliance CDMA even on REC sims. Hopefully it should work by default on this RGE sim otherwise it will be done from the backend. And yes I did try all tricks in the book that people want me to, with or without apn and in manual mode...lolz. But then I also received the news from the local webworld that Reliance CDMA will be stopping operations on May 1. However people will be given a Reliance 4G sim and they will be first ones to taste 4G on band 850 (B3), even before Jio. So there seems some light at the end of the tunnel for the existing cdma customers. However Reliance may not be able to compete with Jio in terms of tarrif. I checked the bands of RN3 - And it is compatible with all possible bands that will operate in India. Cheers... -

Rear Camera Image Quality (image is unprocessed, only resized to 800x600) - EVDO is still not working. Waiting for the RGE sim to arrive. On CDMA, phone, sms etc. working perfectly. Data working perfect on Airtel 3G GSM. - No major heating issue on heavy usage. Normal warming up occurs in all phones. - MIUI 7.1 is a fantastic OS. Very fast between multiple apps. - Available memory is only around half of the 16GB, so either go in for a higher memory 32GB variant (if and when available) or use a micro sd card with one sim. I am using a additional 16GB card. - Stock speaker quality is decently loud and clear. It rocks with headphones on. Listening to 'Bulletproof' from 'La Roux' while typing. - Watching 'Star Wars - The Force Awakens' awakened my senses....lolz. Screen is quite good. Can't expect anymore from a sub 10k phone. I think it is one of the best sub 10k phones in India as of this moment. -
My Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 thread is now online on Rimweb here - http://www.rimweb.in/forums/topic/37707-review-xiaomi-redmi-note-3-2gb16gb-4g-volte-cdmagsm/ I shall be discussing my further views on that topic. Cheers...

Your feedback on many issues is not very clear. RN3 will work with Jio 100% as it is a full VOLTe compatible handset with all 4G bands on which Jio will operate. BTW what settings you have done on RN3 to work with REC sim. Kindly post screen shots of EVDO connected.

The data started working for sometime today but only on 1x. As soon as evdo came back, it stopped. Went to a nearby Reliance Store whose person is very knowledgeable. He tried some settings and raised some complaints. He told me to wait for a day or two to see if the backend can find a resolution otherwise he advised me that on similar phones, sims with the RGE series (omh diamond sims) are the only ones working properly but as they are old series, people are black marketing those to upto 750 bucks. I have ordered one from a Delhi Webworld friend for about 500 bucks. Let us see the results. He also gave news that Reliance CDMA is winding up shortly and all operations will be taken over by Jio. And by evening I got news from another friend (who is personally using Jio) that Jio is starting operations withing the fortnight and sims will be available in 5~7 days. So it's 500 bucks wasted for that sim that I have ordered....lolz. As eventually I have to shift all my connections to Jio anyways, and so will ALL OF YOU. So you can easily invest in this handset as its future proof. Only if they had made the 3GB/32GB model available, it is so much more value for money than the over priced Mi5. Was watching a 4GB rip of the Star Wars the Force awakens on it today and boy was I impressed, no stutters and great screen quality. It put nearly all my previous costlier phones (2-3 times costlier) to shame. Cheers...

There is no PPP Dial option in APN setting which needs to be on #777. If somehow we can set that, I think data should work.
-
Received the phone in my hand today. Yes, data issue is there and data is not connecting. Need to find a solution. PS - How is Samrat's data connecting? What settings have you done?
-
Phone activated today by my son at Delhi. Reliance CDMA working PERFECTLY. Rest detailed report and photos on Monday. Mine is a UP (W) sim and working out of the box even while roaming in Delhi. No special settings done or needed.
-
Hopefully, as the network specs read the same. Anyways I am on Airtel (nakli 4G) GSM now so don't need it for cdma, and plan to shift to JIO on both the phones. Both phones support VOIP.
-
You won't get hands on the 3GB model anytime soon as that is most in demand and Xiaomi has produced 90% of the 2GB model. So most sales will be of the 2GB model. If you intend to use only 1 sim (as my son does) then you can expand memory by micro sd card and 2GB should be sufficient for normal usage. I personally would now go for the Mi5 if you have the budget, but at a sub 10k price, it's hard to fault the RN3.
-
Keep APN setting as blank i.e. do not select any APN. And set network to Reliance CDMA. That's all that is needed. Rest will be picked up from the CDMA diamond sim automatically.
-
You need a OMH Diamond sim only (with diamond symbol) and its RSN no. which is printed on the sim should start with RECRUC (ideally RECRUC06) series. That is supposedly working out of the box with this phone. My phone has arrived and is presently in Delhi. I should get it on Sunday whereby I will give a proper detailed report. But as per all reports you should not worry and this is the most ideal (CDMA or GSM) phone right now in India in the sub 10k range.

With Mi5 also launched today at 25K, which should also support cdma bands, game is about to change further, About 4k more than expectations. But this guy still has more juice to fizzle the pants out of the likes of S7 and others. Mi playing spoilsport by again not launching the top spec versions (64GB and 128 GB/4GB ceramic) in a price sensitive Indian market. Still this phone is poised to be a game changer. Cant wait to touch and feel one... http://www.mi.com/in/mi5/ Cheers...

What exact steps did you follow in the engineering mode?

Well this news should sound a death knell to the imported phone market here on Rimweb. In some sms does'nt work, some don't update to latest software version, some require frequent re-programming etc. etc. When such a good phone is available for less than 10k for cdma, what is the use of the so many headaches involved with these imported handsets. The Rimweb sellers should wind up their shops. Cheers...

Ordered the Redmi Note 3 yesterday for my son in grey color. Will post my feedback regarding CDMA performance after I receive it. In the meanwhile came across this video highlighting the hidden screen/body strength from a un-certified screen. Seems quite good for Rs. 9999/- phone -

The trick to getting stable EVDO on this phone is supposedly NOT to put any APN and to set Reliance CDMA as the preferred network manually. Actual Users please confirm.
