Can anyone positively confirm that Redmi Note 3 supports Reliance CDMA sim with evdo?
  3. With MNP finally being introduced tonight, I am starting this topic for the benefit of everyone on the forum, to get back feedbacks from people who have "already ported". You can post your feedbacks in this format (add some more if you like, but this should be bare minimum) - ---------------------------------- I have PORTED my existing (name of service provider) (GSM/CDMA) number XX123456XX to (name of new service provider) (GSM/CDMA) (e.g. I have PORTED my existing Reliance CDMA number 93584XXXXX to Idea GSM) Reasons for Porting - Grievances with existing Service provider - Benefits that I see of the new service provider - Porting Experience - (mention time taken to port from first sms etc.) Any other important comment - ------------------------------- Kindly participate en-mass and spread the joy of the wonderful new world of MNP.... EDIT- A sincere request - On the basis of feedback received from other senior members, I would request all to be as brief as possible and avoid posting unnecessary stuff and dont make this topic loose its prime motto..... Thanks all for your co-operation and understanding...
  4. Got the new Zenfone 2, Gold, LTE, 2.3 GHz, 4GB, 32 GB EMMC, 5.5", 5MP/13MP in hand. Just 17k on Flipkart sale. Great feel in hand for now. Initial experience with the Asus Zenfone 2 - First the cons - 1. The screen though very good by a 17k phone standard does not match to the HTC One or the SMOLED's of the Samsung. It's brightness is a little less though the color gradients can be adjusted. Few shots - 2. The camera too is quite good but still not as good as the HTC One's (before the pink tint issue). But color saturation is better. 3. Plastic body compared to the all aluminum of the HTC One M7. 4. Lots of Asus apps. And by lots I mean lots. 5. Still on android 5.0. A flagship should be on the latest version. Pros - 1. I was most afraid of the battery life and that is quite decent in fact, especially after taking the new update it has increased quite a bit - So take the update immediately. Incidentally the update failed on wifi continuously but went through in first attempt through the mobile data. Still I have ordered the Asus Power Bank for my long trips. 2. Great metallic feel back cover and soft golden hue color. Great build quality. 3. Camera with HDR is pretty decent though not top of the line. 4. Fast charging really works. In 5 minutes it can give you a couple of hours backup. 5. Lag free and very fast even after so many crappy apps. the 2.3 Ghz processor and 4 GB of RAM really works. Some Asus apps are pretty decent in fact. 6. 3G speeds are pretty decent for Meerut (UP-W circle) on Airtel. Initial verdict - For a flagship of a company it still needs to go some miles compared to HTC and Samsung. But for the 17k price tag (in fact I can buy 3 for the price of a S6) I will take this any day over those over priced phones. It does 100% of what those flagships do and then some more. Where it lags just slightly in the body and the screen can easily be overlooked. Fantastic piece of hardware. Recommended as one of the best value for money flagship offerings in the market today. Enough of the CDMA crap.
  5. Well, I have removed it from charging since 6am today, went to tennis and did normal activity. And now at 6.30pm, after nearly 12 hours of use it has 67% battery still remaining and it is assessing to last a further 24 hours. I would say that is pretty decent though my usage was quite low today. This is with ambient screen always on. With screen off it may last 3 days plus as per my estimates. Alcatel One Touch is a very basic android watch. It is a generation old. Though it is the same price as the Asus Zenwatch 2 @150$. It is smaller at 1.22" display compared to 1.63" display of the Zenwatch2, The display is 240 x 204 compared to 320x320 of the Asus. It has a TFT LCD compared to MOLED of the Asus which also has a higher pixel density of 278ppi compared to 258 of the Alcatel. The battery is also double at 400mAh compared to 210mAh of the Alcatel. The Asus has 4GB of internal memory and 512MB of RAM. Though the Alcatel is pretty decent for its price, it is just a generation too old and doesn't have the premium feel of the new offerings.
  6. Just received my Asus Zenwatch 2 from the US through amazon.com - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0163HRGNC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00 Product Link - https://www.asus.com/ZenWatch/ASUS_ZenWatch_2_WI501Q/Features/ Landing cost including customs 156 $ Full stainless steel finish. Bands are standard 22mm inter-changeable and available at your corner watch store. Charger is 1A. Charging cable is proprietary and magnetic. Incoming call alert Thousands of watch faces. Make it a Rolex one day and Cartier the next... lolz I am luvin it for now. Cheers...
  7. OnePlus invites

^ Another of my invites got expired. I would still advise you guys to go for something like the new Moto X Play/Style rather than this 'faux' flagship killer...
  8. Can you compare the pics of Asus zenfone 2 and Asus zenfone 2 laser I bought Asus Zenfone 2 used for 2 days and sold it on ebay.Just because not happy with the camera.Except camera it was excellent phone. Now I want to know difference between zenfone 2 camera and zenfone 2 laser. Is there any major improvement in camera because of Laser technology and pixel master 2 compared to pixelmaster 1 in old zenfone If any major improvement is there then i am planning to purchase laser model tomorrow from flipkart with special offers Request you to help me deciding If there is no major improvement then I will decide from from following model Moto g 3 Samsung J5 Xiami mi4i Yup, you can say that the camera is slightly below the other flagships like the S6 and the difference is mainly noticeable in indoor shots, but with the models you are comparing i.e. G3, J5 Xiami etc, these are all at par or the Asus might even be slightly better. And today this model of Asus is going at a mouth watering price of 17.5K for the 4GB, 2.3Ghz, 32GB model. Now comparable phone is MotoX Style which has a better camera and it is going for 32K for the 3GB. 32GB model. i.e. at nearly DOUBLE the price of the Asus Zenfone 2. So for the money, this phone is great bang for the buck. Zenfone 2 Laser is going at 9199 today at Flipkart for the 2GB 16GB 1.2Ghz, but it seems to have the same camera and its not full HD and doesnt have fast charging etc.But at this price and with 4G working on both sims unlike my Zenfone 2, it seems a great deal too, if you can live with that camera, which I surely can as per my photos posted above.
  9. After ordering the original flip cover (incl NFC) from Flipkart - http://www.flipkart.com/asus-flip-cover-zenfone-2-ze551ml/p/itme6p3y78vhwczg which is just great to feel in the hand and takes your phone to another level, Today I Ordered Asus Zenwatch 2 from amazon.com @129$. Approx 10k landed incl customs duty which they have incl in the cost while checkout (Total: $134.08 Import Fees Deposit: $22.79 Order Total: $156.87 *INR 10,822.94) Ships directly to Meerut, India - http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Smartwatc...ef=dp_return_2 . I feel the Zenwatch 2 is a great buy at nearly a third of the cost of the Samsung Gear S2 and Moto 360 ver 2. Cheers... PS - Asus now provides the official bootloader unlock for Zenfone 2 - http://www.androidauthority.com/asus-providing-bootloader-unlock-for-the-zenfone-2-648952/

Initial Observations : 1. Very convenient size to handle. 2. Absolutely brilliant build quality. The HTC's Aluminum Unibody is a class apart from Samsung. Feels very solid in hand. 3. 4.7" Super LCD 3 screen is brilliant and brightness is better than Note 2. Though overall the Super AMOLED of Note 2 can be called slightly better. 4. The Beats Audio sound quality is just brilliant, the best I have seen yet on any phone. 5. The 4MP camera is again brilliant. Don't go by mega pixels, the sensor quality is far superior to anything seen on many phones. Front Camera is 2 MP. 6. It is on stock 4.3 and as a existing Note2 owner, I had no issues transitioning to this device. If anything the level of customisations is now miles ahead. 7. Easily handled with One hand. 8. GPS locking is without any error and very very fast, even better than Note2. 9. 32GB in built memory but NO option to add micro sd card. Though I feel that amount of memory is sufficient. Also the micro usb/mhl port supports usb chips upto 64MB by special cable. 10. NO dedicated camera button. 11. Notification light is present. 12. Sufficient 2300mah battery lasts a day but Note 2's battery is still the benchmark which lasts even upto 2 days for normal usage. 13. The back is all aluminum with sandwitched poly carbonate and is NOT openable. Micro SIM slot is on the side which supports GSM sims with full 3G. So this in effect is the First World Phone (CDMA+GSM) that I have owned. Though only one netwrok works at a time. Also there needs to be some GSM sim installed (working or non working) otherwise the phone gives 4G error. 14. Awesome 3G speeds. What I don't like: 1. I am told that some people are facing "Purple Photos" problem in low light shooting. No such issues faced by me. 2. Some people are also getting 3G speeds problem, not faced by me. 3. No flip case in box (cost cutting nowadays?). 4. No kickstand. Even with these, it is now the arguably one the BEST DESIGNED phones in the world at the moment. Now for some PHOTOS: The Phone The Box is slick and thin The Box opened in multi layers The Box's total contents. Notice the black charger, USB cable and Beats Audio Red headset. Close up Shots of the Camera (also note the noise cancellation mic on the back) and the back. The back also supports NFC. The top showing the Power Button with built in IR blaster. I use it also as a remote to control my Tata Sky Box and Samsung TV. Also visible the 3.5mm audio jack. The Micro SIM Slot on the left side The right side features only these slick volume controls. Also visible the 2MP front camera which also clicks brilliant photos and videos. The bottom features the micro usb port (reverse configuration than Samsung) and the microphone The blink feed Home Page is highly customizable Brilliant photo quality Size comparison with Samsung Note2
  11. OnePlus invites

Do you have any invite left ? Nope, didn't need one, didn't save one...
  12. OnePlus invites

One Plus Two is raining invites.... lolz. Got 2 a few days back with Amazaon link in my email without asking for them. Looks like the phone ain't selling as they expected. Couldn't find one when I wanted to buy it, hence went for the Asus Zenfone 2. Here's one marketing strategy gone terribly wrong.
  13. The camera on the Asus Zenfone 2 is superior to my HTC One M7 and Galaxy Note 2 and definitely better than the S4. Here's another shot of a motorcyle part I installed today and the chrome detailing matches my Nikon DSLR. The camera on Zenfone 2 is quite good . Only the Note 4 and S6 have better cameras. But then I can buy 3 Zenfone 2's in the price of a S6. ----------------- Got the Asus Power Bank. Excellent build quality @1750/-. All aluminum body and very superior to the chinese crap floating around. Even though with my usage the battery of Zenfone 2 reaches just 50% by night.
  14. Yes, micro sd slot card upto 64 GB Check out for yourself - Both photos reduced to about 1/4th of actual image. And the box photo taken in very low light (hence a little grainy). I think it's camera is better than my HTC One's M7 when it was in its prime. Some links - https://www.asus.com/in/Phone/ZenFone_2_ZE551ML/
  15. Post MNP Experience

    1. Lack of proper handsets and at proper prices. I was the first user of Reliance in West UP. When we started using CDMA, high quality handsets were easily available at half the price of their gsm counterparts, 2. Dying network. Will be finished soon after Jio. 3. Lack of transparency. 4. No 4G
  16. Post MNP Experience

Can you elaborate about the plan you chose? I chose the 299 plan with 8 packs, all of 3G i.e. total 960MB 3G data + on porting I got 300 minutes local/std calls free per month. Alternatively with family members I can chose the My Family Plan and start at 399 with 12 packs i.e. approx 1.5GB data free and after that unlimited 2G data; No rental after 1st month (199) for all the additional 4 family members. 300 minutes calling free for each member porting into Airtel. Data is shared amongst all members and plan can be increased to 499 or 599 if more data is required.
  17. Post MNP Experience

Really happy post MNP from Reliance CDMA postpaid to Airtel 3G/4G Postpaid. The network of Airtel is quite good in UP West, in fact better than Reliance CDMA in some places. Reliance GSM is comparison was just too pathetic. Data speeds on 3G are better than Reliance EVDO - Cheers...
  18. Finally gave the porting request for my personal Reliance Postpaid number to Airtel. The previous scheme that I mentioned is not applicable anymore. Now they are giving me 960MB 3G data and 300 minutes of Local/STD calling. 17 Rs. pack for free incoming throughout India. Should be good enough. Very happy with Airtel in Meerut. Planning to change my HTC One M7 to either a One+2 or a Samsung J7. Also just got a Moto G3 for my daughter.
  19. Unboxing Photos are here - http://www.rimweb.in...re/page__st__17 ; comments are now welcome.... Screenshots are here - http://www.rimweb.in..._15#entry206629 Actual Samsung Epic DOCK unboxing photos here - http://www.rimweb.in...298#entry207298 Samsung Home Page is here - https://www.samsungm.../GalaxyS/#/home Specifications are here - http://www.samsung.c...ZKASPR-features Dock Specifications here - http://www.samsung.c...BEGSTA-features Sprint Epic microsite here - http://now.sprint.co...D=vanity:epic4g What I like about EPIC - - Absolute Multimedia Monster (Screen and Sound is unmatchable; I have to lower volumes for my Ringtones first time on any phone) - Base 4 icons of the default Samsung launcher - Desk Home App - Front Facing Camera (missing on my Incredible) - Great sliding keyboard (the best on any phone as on date) - Great 5MP camera with Flash (night photography is better than the 8MP of Incredible) - Looks great in hand (blows all phones away); Its the Fortuner that I always desired... will trample all the Marutis.... like this phone will trounce all iphone 4's, W7's and N8's.... LOL - Accessory bundle is better in terms of 5.1 surround Heaphones (while playing movies through headphones) - Dedicated Camera Button (sorely missed on Incredible) - Superb call Quality and Tower strength - Great DOCK (costs about 2.5-3K extra) What I dislike - - Poor GPS (update: nearly there now) - Hard soft keys (update: have gotten better with use) - Bulk (twice as fat than Incredible) - HTC Sense interface was better (update: have since updated to Launcher Pro Plus which absolutely rocks) - Lack of Android 2.2 for now (update: now available) I got update notification and did the update to DI18 from the DI07 that was on the phone after activating my number by *228 It took me less than 30 minutes to transfer all my contacts, applications, sms's etc. into this new phone. Thats the joy of Android OS; no tears while changing phones. The BEAST revealed The Beast's Front - and the BACK - My Dock on the Way -
  20. Battery life has increased by at least 25% after the Lollipop upgrade.
  21. Updated my M7 to Lollipop 5.0.2 Battery level suddenly dropped after update and battery level seemed to not be displaying properly. Was solved by a reboot and then recycling the battery (pressing power button+volume up button simultaneously for 30+ seconds) Seems OK for now. No effect on GSM unlock or Reliance CDMA settings. Phone working OK in both modes. M&7 got the Lollipop update before the M8!!
  22. Features & Specs - http://www.google.co....html#/features Sprint Home Page : http://now.sprint.co...ID=vanity:nexus Stock Photos: Initial Observations- 1. Phone is a perfect size in hand. Neither too big nor too small. Very light too. 2. The sAMOLED screen is brilliant and curved screen is fanciful 3. It is already on 2.3.7 Stock Gingerbread, much higher than the S2's 2.3.4 Edit: Update to ICS 4.0.4 4. The glossy back can be prone to scratches 5. The volume seems lower than the S2 but is still ok 6. The wifi network coverage and tower connections are also slightly poorer than the S2 7. It could not get activated by *228/*228001/*228015 and I had to manually feed the MIN after MDN retain. Edit: I heard it is actually done by *22898 8. The camera quality is quite good of both the front and rear cameras. Videos can be taken with flash from both of them. Video Chat on Gtalk worked perfectly. 9. Facebook sync of contacts does NOT work as Google and Facebook have blocked each other and having a well documented tiff over this. Default Facebook app, however works well. 10. There is NO notification light. My better half likes it that way unlike me. Less disturbance, she says. 11. There is ONLY 16GB internal memory. No sd card slot. Should be sufficient for most. 12. The 3.5mm and micro usb slots are on the bottom which I think is the perfect place for both of them. 13. No dedicated camera button. Only volume rockers and power button on sides. Nothing on top. 14. The COST of the phone is the biggest ++ point and I suggest people looking for top of the line phones for their better half's, better get this. It retails at 30K in GSM. (20k for the LCD model). 13~15K for this one in cdma. 15. This will be the 1st phone to get Ice Cream Sandwich update after the Galaxy Nexus (most probably next month) and may also include the much hyped Face Unlock feature. 16. It already has NFC (Near Field Communication) which is absent on the S2, so its quite future proof. 17. The 1500mah battery lasts 2 days without evdo. 18. GPS lock is very quick, however there is a 5 degree magnetic north pole error that I found on all Samsung US phones including Epic. Only the S2 is the exception and I feel its a software issue. Some photos - Unboxed - The back cover with the NFC antenna embedded in it The 1500mah battery Compared with the Sprint Galaxy S2 Already on 2.3.7 2 pieces bought
