^ I am using both Incredible and Galaxy S and I like HTC sense better though its a personal choice; and my Epic is also on the way so its not that I dont want to buy Epic; will decide which to keep when I get both in hand... the comment about battery life is a very justified one...

Just received the 2 laptops yesterday and I must say I am greatly surprised how Toshiba is giving such a good laptop at this price. It is comparable to My Dell Studio 15 in screen clarity which I must add is more than double the price of this one... I have loaded Windows 7 Ultimate on it and it is rocking like hell... What I liked - - Textured Black Finish - Great Keyboard with separate Numeric keypad (missing in my Dell Studio) - Great 15.4" widescreen; superb clarity - Aero works superbly with AMD's patented in built graphics - No lacking in speed; 2 GB ram suffices and 250GB sata is also without complaints - Dual core AMD has come as a surprise in performance; donno why people are blindly for Intel What I didnt like - - Speakers are a bit tinny in quality - No HDMI port (but most wont need it), no esata, only 10/100 lan (no gigabit), - Only 2 USB ports Overall, I must say that if anyone's looking for a full powered budget laptop, you just cant go wrong with this Toshiba... 5 Star rating with 2 Thumbs up.... PS- I have also recently loaded Ubuntu Netbook version on my Acer Aspire One recently - http://www.ubuntu.com/netbook - It is working just great and suffices all needs of surfing, music, divx playback, open office (inbuilt) etc. For This notebook or your desktop, do give the Ubuntu Desktop version a try - http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop - Great interface and does everything now...

I still feel that HTC Incredible is the best handset out of these three comparing its size in hand and actual usability. Epic 4G would have won but HTC Sense interface beats it hands down, thus Incredible wins for me... This is based on my personal habit of NOT using the keyboard in all my previous handsets owned by me (Mogul; Touch Pro)....

usb's in tv's are just a gimmick; as with such a high end tv, u would surely enjoy its potential only with a good dvd/bd player with usb inbuilt or a dedicated media player also attached in tandem...

@ade - you may also contact me if you dont find any deals over there. I may have 1 as good as new piece available shortly.

Finally went to Toshiba Showroom; really liked the fit and build quality of the demo piece of this C650D model; Cool Carbon grazed finish; I would say EXCELLENT VALUE for your money; Placed order of 2 pieces @22,250/= inclusive of all taxes (1 for my kids and 1 for a friend who too thought it was a steal at this price); will have it in hand on Monday (as roads closed due to commonwealth games closing ceremony)....

Finally bought the Sony Bravia 40EX400 from Gaffar Market for 45K; Pal/Ntsc/220V model, so no jhanjhat vhanjhat... Still saved a cool 12.5K over the showroom discounted price (MRP 62K offered me for 57.5K...)

Android Phones Now Officially More Popular Than iPhones (AC Nielsen Survey) Market share of Windows based smartphones has dropped to just 5%, down from 9% last year. Google's Android Smartphones have a market share of 17%, from a mere 2% just a year ago...

I have bought 2, 1 each for HTC Droid Incredible and Samsung Epic 4G; checked out through Paypal... Thanks for the find...
-
^ Thanks for all your efforts Rajan... will try to make up my mind soon... though Sony Bravia as a brand and feel good factor does outweigh many things... also it has 65%+ market share of the indian lcd market...
-
^ yes, what you are saying makes sense... But the price I am getting is 37.5K (after using my discount voucher) which is even 10K cheaper then the ebay india price (which incidently is also imported from Dubai and without warranty; let them say whatever they wish on their listing)... Its available for 45K at Gaffar Market in Delhi (same imported model) and that is what is mouth watering and tempting me... I have compared picture qualities of this model with samsung and lg and have found it to be the best overall bet in this particular segment... and I am a gambler in things technology... so its like a challenge for me to get the same thing at 20K cheaper then the Indian warranty market... I have always got things imported in the past and warranty I dont worry about as I have got the resources and knowhow to get it serviced if the need arises (which incidently hasnt happened much in my past experience)... But the 40K tab on the model you are saying is worth looking at.. BUT when I tried searching, I found no such pricing on that particular model... If you could elaborate if its actually available as on date...

I am planning a 40 incher LCD this festive season for my room. I was being offered SONY BRAVIA LCD 40" KLV-40EX400 for 57,500/- at Sony showroom (MRP 61,900/-) specs - http://www.sony.co.i...uct/klv-40ex400 Now the same lcd on their US site is for 599$ - KDL-40EX400 - http://www.sonystyle...552921666077651 which I am getting directly from US through GEB (with all shipping and customs being their responsibility) for just 38,000/= Only thing is that its 110V (will need a 200 to 110 V converter available for around 800 bucks here) and its Colour System is only NTSC (no PAL). I dont think that should be an issue as that is only for Broadcast tv and we as it is will be using only hdmi or tata sky which operates independent of the colour system. Am in a dilemma what to do but the price advantage is nearly 20K.... Hmmmm..... Let me think.... some thoughts on importing lcd's from US - http://hifi-india.bl...tv-to-work.html

I have finally been able to get the price fixed at 22500/- all inclusive with case, mouse and original bluetooth dongle (yes, its supplied directly by toshiba). The Tata Photon Offer is also officially listed on Toshiba's site along with all their notebooks and is available to all. I hopefully will be buying it for a friend first by tomorrow and then think about one for my kids if I like it. Will then post a detailed review...
-
Its available for 22850/- net all inclusive after taxes at Meerut and not less then that... it has case and mouse free; headphones and bluetooth dongle thrown in free from the dealer.... btw this does not have inbuilt bluetooth, but still seems a good deal; as far as actual build quality goes, maybe ravi can comment better whether it is worth the price, as he is actually using it... @rajan - I think u r right as xp drivers are not available for this particular model...

Nokia India Yet To Find Cdma Market Worth It
dkaile replied to ravi_patent's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Nokia will be killed soon... Android will rule roost... Same happened to Sony which is now just left in Bravia and Viao... rest its camera, stereos, phones are all nearly dead... -
^ you need to unmount ur sd card then it will get detected in usb and then remount after transferring files...
-
I am also seriously getting interested for this model (seeing its price) for my kids; I saw its adv in paper today, I was going for a Dell Mini one, but this seems much more lucrative... I will use it with Win7 that i have got... @Ravi - let me know if we can strike a bulk deal for better pricing... @rajan - all xp drivers are available on toshiba's site - https://www.toshiba-india.com/laptop/DriversDetails.aspx?product=Notebook%20Computer&series=Satellite&model=C650&cat=0&os=0
