  1. Need Suggestion For Laptop

^ For all my heavy duty and business related work for which I use softwares like Photoshop, AutoCAD, CorelDRAW, MS Office, Tally and other custom made business softwares, I use my Desktop PC (assembled but very high configuration specs). For normal browsing only I use my Laptop. I like to watch movies also on my Desktop's 19" LCD as I feel anything smaller than that is not justified for this purpose. Also even the best of laptops cannot offer you the sound quality of even a 2.1 sub woofer based Creative/Lansing speaker system, which I have installed on my desktop. Now coming to difference between netbook and notebook the main differences are in - - Processing power (though netbook's atom based processors suffice in all general environment) - Ram (that is a major problem in netbook's limitation to max. 2GB); here the notebook wins... - Hard disk (here the netbook's 160-250gb suffices for most general application) - Screen Size and resolution (here the netbook looses big time and mostly the notebook's win; however for general browsing etc. and if your eye sight is good (LOL), then netbook COULD suffice) - Keyboard and Trackpad (here also netbook's are nearly there but still lack the tactile feel of the notebook's input devices) - Battery Life (No competition; Netbook's win by a huge margin) - Portability (again Netbook's win big time) - Economy (No competition here either; the Netbook wins) Now choose what is more important to you out of the above parameters and make your decision...
  2. Need Suggestion For Laptop

^ I disagree; I am using both Dell Studio 15 and have used Acer 4710 and AspireOne Netbook. I dont feel that the quality is anywhere inferior and commensurates with its cost. I am also not overly impressed with quality of my dell Studio 15 notebook... With screen resolution being as it is, 10" to 14" would be quite similar in the movie watching experience and both would in fact lack the movie watching requirement. For that a minimum screen size of 17"+ would be required...
  3. Need Suggestion For Laptop

I would suggest, seeing your needs, to go in for a Netbook and save some moolah... However go for one offering minimum vertical screen resolution of 768 and not 600 (as is the conventional resolution in netbooks)... e.g. - 1. http://www1.ap.dell....s=dhs&cs=indhs1 (This has an option to upgrade to higher screen resolution of 768) 2. http://www.acer.co.in/acer/product.do?link=oln85e.redirect&changedAlts=&kcond48e.c2att101=-1&CRC=2759084358#wrAjaxHistory=0

^ never had the issue of heating or restarting; I dont restart my phone for weeks at end; I am on 1.5 base rom (modaco 1.3) and everything is working quite flawlessly on that except bluetooth transfer (which I dont need anyways). Seemd to be a problem with your rom or some settings that you might have played around with.... and Yes, I am waiting still for a good flawless rom (original sprint 2.1) as I feel that none of the 2.1 roms around are bug free (though my friends may differ, but thats what I have read)...

^^ patience... very soon... wait for sometime as I am also waiting for a flawless 2.1 rom... vaise if u wish to to experiment, its quite simple actually; just copy the zip file of the new rom you wish to load into the root of your sd card - reboot into recovery (switch off phone - remove and then reinsert battery - press home+power button - release power button immediately and you will boot into recovery mode) - do a clean wipe (if recommended; clean wipe = hard reset) - and finally flash from the recovery menu itself (option to flash from sd card is there in the recovery mode)...

All the things you ask for have been discussed in this topic from the beginning; sms backup procedure from windows mobile has been discussed; for treo you can try transferring/extracting your sms as an xml file which then can be restored onto android by sms backup and restore software. try combining all accounts for calendar and contacts into 1 and make your life SIMPLER... I have long since left (and now forgotten) outlook completely... This is a Google Phone and I like to stick to Google applications for a seamless experience... though its possible to sync via HTC Sync and for download problem, check your internet connection or download directly from Sprint site - http://www.htc.com/us/support/hero-sprint/downloads/

^ 1. For activating your phone, contact the person from whom you bought it (I presume its Sadikk, and he usually gives your phone pre activated)... 2. Calendar/Contact sync is a simple as entering your username and password of your gmail a/c and everything happens automatically; provided you have created/transferred your contacts/calendar to your Gmail a/c why are u confused? or am I missing something?

  22. Pc Automatically Shutdown

^ I had exact same problem with my desktop 2 days back; I disassembled my complete pc myself; and reached the conclusion that the CPU FAN was the culprit; Not, the cabinet fan but the CPU Fan. The heatsink of the CPU fan was clogged with dust. I disassembled the fan and also noted that 2 of the 4 clips securing it to the motherboard has also broken and it was NOT getting proper contact with the CPU. I went to the local assembler and got 2 new locks for the CPU Fan (20/- each), replaced the broken clips/locks, cleaned the Heatsink with air pressure completely, re-attached the CPU Fan properly securing it to CPU top so that it was in full contact with the CPU and VOILA the problem of shutdown vanished. In the process my PC got a full spring cleaning and is working as NEW... BTW, the shop vallahs had even recommended me changing the motherboard, the power supply, the ram etc. etc. LOL... JFYI... and the culprit turned out to be the good old CPU Fan. The PC is programmed to shutdown immediately when the CPU crosses a set temperature...

^ this was a known issue of data going haywire in many 2.1 roms; I wud advice you to try shifting to DevAlap Rom and see whether your data returns or not - http://mobile5.in/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=47 as I think he has now sorted out the data issue.
