  1. Sprint Htc Hero - The Latest Android Kid On The Block

^ ignore those lines and slightly dull screen in those shots; my screen shot software clicks the shot when I shake my phone.... lol... maybe thats why or maybe the screen dimmed just at the moment I was clicking... for your mogul query, pls post in relevant topic and I will answer; not here...

^ Its 100% customisable who u want on which screen.. its so freakin good, u will forget wm forever; and cut paste is also easy dont worry; call x/y is totally customisable and according to my personal choice... more screen shots attached - I am also attaching photos of chat style sms; and multitasking on Hero (multiple softwares open at one time)
  4. Sprint Htc Hero - The Latest Android Kid On The Block

^ - best would be to forward all your mails to your gmail account if you want absolutely snappy pushmail; otherwise imap will also work though not as well as with gmail; - i hv gotten used to the onscreen keyboard very fast; first thing u should do on getting the new device is to TRAIN IT (yes, its possible) to your touch method and typing greatly gets easier; also it starts saving your words into its directory and keeps getting easier as it ages... auto-corrections works fab... - copy paste all work... from sms to email etc... though it took getting used to first time as to how to do it; but once u get a hang of it, its easy... - my screen shots follow...

^ My battery experience is also similar; without data its 2 days + and with continuous data I was able to squeeze 1 full day; 100 messages in few minutes is incredible; dont know about the spam filter; maybe its there in the original rom; try custom roms; I am on modaco 1.3 which looks and behaves exactly like sprint 1.56 and is based on it only, but is rooted and hence no networks constraints or locks apply; also try modaco 2.0 which I hv heard is very good... We are hoping for a 15Feb release of official 2.1 rom for Hero... ummeed par duniya tiki hai... lol... @shubanyu Even though there is still a BT file transfer issue (the only real issue I could find, and which is solved in all updates after 1.6), I am never going back to wm ever again.... hope that answers your question... now why? personal choice, maybe; but there are such a plethora of options for us geeks that we can get really inside the os that realy excites us with android; though I am still on a learning curve and lots remains to be learnt... It does everything much better than wm, is highly customisable; I just love the HTC sense interface over and above the basic android garb; It has so much more flexibility over wm; it is more feature rich; plethora of softwares; the ease with which it gets back all my contacts and calendars from my gmail account is incredible.... Email is incredible which you can never experience on wm specially if you are a total googler like me; Push mail is so incredible on the Gmail application that you will forget all blackberries; I have not felt the need to configure the HTC mail client till date and am using ONLY the Gmail application; You can gauge by that fact how well it handles Gmail emails; Music, as I have said before is at par with my ipod specially with the built in 3.5mm jack; Videos it plays but not all formats and needs to be converted to the desired format and resolution to play well; also just like any ipod; Bottom line is that if YOU ARE A GOOGLER, YOU CANT BE WITHOUT A ANDROID PHONES.... but for others there are still other (lower) options...

  12. Htc Plan To Launch 4G Supersonic Phone For Sprint

^ I am also using BSNL 3G in my dell notebook; but seriously, to call speeds of 50-60Kbps as 3G is pathetic.... we are nowhere near 3.6MBps, let alone 7.2Mbps that is norm in other 3G markets (not 4G)....

  19. Sprint Htc Hero - The Latest Android Kid On The Block

^ As you know, google added birthday column to google contacts "recently", so thats probably this column isn't syncing, it doesn't work both ways, if you add birthday via web interface it wont get synced on your phone and also if u add birthday on your phone it wont get synced to google contacts however, if you add birthday via web interface, you can "sync" them with your google calendar 1. Go to google calendar via web interface, click settings > calendars 2. Click on "Browse interesting calendars" > more 3. Look for "Contacts' birthdays and events" and click Subscribe this will add an other calendar "on top" of your main calendar, and this calendar will sync with your phone (you get birthday events of your contacts inside google calendar), remember its gonna take some time till this gets synced, but it works I know its not much, but you get some of the birthday-calendar functionality. I have tried it personally and IT WORKS... (except in the case if your contacts and friends feed their wrong birthdays on facebook etc.; as it syncs those too... lol) in mean time you can add star here http://code.google.c...Summary%20Stars and here http://code.google.c...Summary%20Stars Problem should get sorted out in coming updates....
  20. Android Handsets

Google Nexus one is in a different league altogether and hence cant be compared at par with the other two; in brief:- Eris and Hero have same processor (Qualcomm® MSM7600™, 528Mhz), same ram (512MB ROM / 288MB RAM) ; battery is 1300maH on eris in comparison to 1500maH on hero; little design difference like a touch panel on eris instead of dedicated keys in hero; trackball little smaller on eris; eris is slightly lighter due to lower capacity battery; and eris comes with 8GB micro sd card instead of just 2GB on hero (though all these devices support upto 32GB); both have 5MP camera without flash; BT 2.0; wifi; One big advantage of the eris is that it has PROXIMITY SENSOR, which the hero doesnt have, even though it retails at a lower price than hero; but the screen has 262K colour on Hero in comparison to 65K colour screen on eris... gps, compass, accelerometer, light sensor are common; 3.5mm jack and mini usb jacks are also common; Nexus One on the other hand has a 3.7" screen in comparison to the 3.2 inchers above; resolution is also 800x480 (compared to 320x480 above); But it is on GSM whereas the above are on CDMA; it has 1400maH battery; 5MP camera with LED flash; Double processor speed (Qualcomm QSD 8250 1 GHz); double ram (512MB Flash 512MB RAM); it also has a teflon coated back; proximity+light sensor; 2nd microphone for noise cancellation; Moto Droid on the other hand is different from this league due to dedicated sliding qwerty keyboard; It has a 3.7-in.; WVGA (480 x 854 pixels); 16:9 widescreen; Arm® Cortex™ A8 processor 550 mHz, 256MB of RAM, and 512MB of ROM, 1400maH battery, it has micro usb jack instead of mini usb; 3.5mm etc. are common with nexus one; It is also the heaviest of the lot; and not only sadikk, other people are also using it on reliance (maybe me also but I am not telling ) Software wise all are running different flavours of Android though within a month or so all should be on the latest version i.e 2.1. And it is Android in fact which is the main point of buying any of these phones; as it is open sourced, highly customisable; with 20000+ applications and growing...though the HTC sense on the HTC devices above (except the moto droid) does make a lot of increase in usability... There are some niggling issues presently with these devices which we are discussing in the relevant topics; so keep following them for more up to date feedbacks... but they are a class apart from anything we have used so far... and the most important thing is to START LIVING IN THE PRESENT..... what will come in the FUTURE you never know; if you keep waiting for newer devices, your wait would be endless... so start enjoying NOW rather than later...
  21. Sprint Htc Hero

^ Pls dont try it right now as it caused certain issues in my handset from which I was able to recover but would not advice you to try it... vaise if u are ready to play with it then call me... but I will take no responsibility for you messing up anything, hence not posting openly, as I know it is causing certain issues and your data may stop working all together...
  22. Sprint Htc Hero

^ Yes, that problem is there specially on fresh reboot and using mp3 from sd card as ringtone. Use inbuilt mp3 trimmer to trim songs to no more than 30 seconds; also 2nd call onwards, I see that this reduces and calls start ringing in 1-1.5 rings; try using any default ringtone instead of mp3 and check also.... try using modaco 2.0 rom modified version; it may be faster than the rom you are on....I have also reduced the slot cycle index from 2 to 1 for faster tower polling and I am getting rings within 1.5 ring, but I dont advice you to play with data settings yet...
  23. ^ Very good.... BTW JFYI Android automatically syncs your contacts with Facebook contacts (if u wish to); This feature is inbuilt in our Hero...
