also, never use local power supply that come default with the case chassis; replace them with a good quality one like cooler master (360~460w); we invest so much in hdd, mb, ram etc. but always forget the most crucial part i.e. the power supply; that supplies stable power to all these components...

delete the modem permanently and reinstall after full reboot of your pc...

Free downloads of W7 have stopped. but u may be able to get a key still. BUT W7 will not work under any circumstances on ur configuration. It does not proceed below 512MB Ram and is not advisable below 1GB in any ways; 80GB HDD is also too low and I dont think u will be having a dvd drive to read the w7 dvd in any case. I see no sense also in upgrading just ur ram in such a scenario. I will suggest that either u upgrade ur system (will cost abt 10k for new MB, Processor, Ram etc. etc.) or reformat and reinstall XP/2000 and pull it along for another few months.... but ur system is at its death bed and its best to let it go.... lol... no pun intended...I can give u W7 dvd but only if u upgrade ur system; u will be able to get a key from microsoft (otherwise i will give u one)... all free except postage...

WDTV type of hardware is the way of the future... You can use it for normal as well as high definition outputs... DVD Player's should be obsolete by another 2 years... just as video cd's came and went...

Update on charges: So its been 24 hours since I activated MobileWorld connection and Push Mail on Gmail through active sync and Push Mail worked FLAWLESSLY. But the dent I got was MUCH HIGHER than expected. I was charged 13/- for this 24 hour period rather than the 1-2 Rs. we were projecting/hoping. Though Under no circumstances I have downloaded 26MB of data that it suggests. Now I will complain to Customer Care but dont know how they will give me breakup. So this is how things stand as of now. And for unlimited Mobile World going for the 299/- per month unlimited plan would be more advisable.

there is no mkv dvd player as of now in india, afaik; if u come across one, do share the info; but shud be out soon... i had a solved solution of aalok video converter, try searching for that; otherwise i will also try to search for you; besides try googling for other converters...

The moment u enable proxy, it will ask u to activate some plan, as per feedback received from other users of some data plan or other....

start using google sync is all i can advice; or try using the following settings: server address: m.google.com tick ssl username: yourgmailaccount@gmail.com password: your password domain: blank tick save password choose to sync E-mail thats how it worked for me....

@saurav Though I will update on the data charges soon for keeping the data connection live 24 hours a day; but I can safely bet that you can shift to default 50p/MB plan now... at 1-2 MB per day, your charges per month shud not exceed 30Rs. a month...
