vishalsheth replied to amit.shah's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
what's the status here? Speed, service. Is it worth giving a try? -

Thanks Dr. BTw can u post the prl file here or give me a download link Have you changed your spc to 000000? If not then send prl to 53733. If yes the follow as Dr. says.

I faced problem in my resent trip. It did not latch on in Hong Kong. I had updated my prl. I kept my phone off. I tried using WiFi and it did not work too. When I was back in India, there were problems. Phone was too slow, it was not responding. I formatted the phone and it's going great now. I think there's no issue with the original ROM. I still don't know what happened. (I guess it wanted to connect to 3G but didn't know how? hahahaha)

Make another reliance mobile world connection in the sprint connection. Click it to use and not set it to autopick. This works fine. I've just formatted my phone and done this again. I've not deleted gardian file and stuff.

I want a 3G/HSDPA/UTMS modem. Which is a good one? This is for GSM based only considering world roaming. I'm posting a link which I've searched. http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/prod...&treeId=462

sms "prl" to 53733. Check if this works for you. If not follow Dr. Mufaddal's procedure.

I am on DAPO1. i'd not like sms charged. yes now there's a cap on 3000 sms/month. that's ok. i'd love my call rates to go down to 30p local & 50p national. if this happens then my usage would shoot up.
-
I'm on DAPO 400. I don't think I'd prefer being charged for sms. With rimweb it could add low rate calling for local and std.

Skype Application Now Available For Iphone
vishalsheth replied to P. K. Daga's topic in Other Network / Cellular Providers
Which is the patch? give me the link. I had problems so I removed it. -
What speeds must be expected from both of them? Is tata HSD type service good? Any of them giving the unit free and charge only usage or as per the plan?
-
So which one is better? Wired broadband or the EVDO USB? I've already asked for the broadband, but if it's not good then I can get the USB.
-
Not sure why you said EVDO is not launched? It not available on phone/handsets in India because that would require 3G license. Reliance is providing it on data card only since their NetConnect service is provided through ISP license and not mobile operator license. Oh ok. I totally forgot that this is under the broadband license. I'm waiting for similar speeds on handsets when they launch this service.
-
Hay Arun, This is good news if you are getting 1530kbps. I'm waiting for this to be available on the phone. If EVDO is not launched how come it's launched on the data card? I guess the clearance foes for all, right?
-
PPC 6700 is not EVDO Rev A, but its EVDO Rev 0. Hence the lower speed that you are getting. I just saw EV on phone in place of 1x. I don't know technically which EVDO is it.

I checked with my cousin in USA and here are the results. Speedtest done from site dslreports.com/mspeed. "800w: ran 100k test, got error message that file size was too large, picked 1MB and got: 1021kbit/sec, .109s latency, 8.13s d/l time (not sure why it said 8.13s, it literally took a fraction of a second)" I've copy pasted what he has sent me. Just to remind everyone that these results are of Aprint USA. Hetal, Kalpak, Sadikk are aware of these results as I had discussed with them too. On my reliance phone I was on 1x and got speed of 65kbps in usa. I had talked to reliance people and they said that this is the best speed you'll get. So I had nothing to tell them. They said that I'd login to the evdo in roaming. But no.

600 to 800 kbps = 75 kB/s to 100 kB/sec = 0.60 Mbps to 0.80 Mbps The maximum download speed achievable by EVDO Rev A. technically is 3.10 Mbps = 387.50 KB/s = 3100 kbps. So when you say you got only 600 to 800 kbps, thats too low. Are you sure that you got that speed only when you used it in US? If you are still confused, use this calculator: http://web.forret.com/tools/bandwidth.asp I did run the speedtest site dslreports.com/mspeed on NTC mogul myself on sprint USA. I did it 3 to 4 times. I got actual download speed ranging from 600 - 800kbps. This was in morning and evening. I got 600kbps on ppc6700. This is all on EV. Ashok should confirm if he can get his hands on sprint.

Don't for Reliance is the company who has won best 3G award worldwide. This was 2 years back. So We can expect the same on performance. These are standards for the the world like how we have broadband mean 256kbps plus. Reliance has a strong backbone.
-
I had posted last year when I had been to USA that EVDO speeds were 600 to 800kbps. This was the standard worldwide which I understood. So when EVDO is set here then it should perform in similar manner. It's possible that they're trying to play around this by giving less now and increase to charge more.
-
How is this equation? This is new laths for me. How is 1kbps=8kbps? Wow!! If this is the case, then my download speed would be 5000kbps=5mbps on my cable modem. I would have been partying then.
-
I'm mot confused. I know what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the actual downloa speed and not the bandwidth given. If uouvdownload on EVDO then download should happen at 700 to 800.
-
If it's EVDO then the speed should be atleast 600 to 800 Kbps. Is this half EVDO?
-
I hope you are missing any zeros. hahahaha
