Number Portability Implementation in India
Chirag replied to niket's topic in Indian Telecom / General News
Portability between GSM n CDMA?? How would that happen between the two technologies? U might be able to take that number but not that handset! -
I agree. Ashok, keep me posted over this too.

wats a better interface? .net or asp? Lets limit as of now to RIM only. Getting the tariff plans of each circle shudn't be that big a hassle. And i can take responsibility of entering the db(tariff plans) as soon as it changes.
-
Neat! But with dynamic way the tariffs and plans update every 1-2months, by the time we prepare one excel sheet, they would change! So the idea is make a web interface, which is always online and can be updated with the new changes asap. But, if u r able to place an Excel Sheet in place with that for ur circle, that would be a great thing to see! How abt that?
-
Well the idea is that, a user must be able to type in his approximate mins of calls to each(RIM/GSM/Landline) operator & for SMS per month. With that the application should respond with the top 3 tariff plans(prepaid & postpaid) which would keep his bill the lowest. And now all this would need to be circle-wise. Since we have ppl from different circles, they can help us get the tariff plans. To begin with, we can start with common tariff plans and then go ahead with Regional Plans! To begin with, i feel this is ok. Later there can be more things developed over this? Ashok and others, any ideas?

Abhay, I hope u r aware of RIM's Mumbai Circle Scheme? What u talk abt Airtel, is all in that scheme!! Check out JOY 299 for Mumbai http://www.relianceinfo.com/Infocomm/Rim/r...ional_plan.html

Its quite cheaper at arnd 8500. But it seems to be out of stock these days!! Jus leave me a PM wid ur Number. I'll buzz u as soon as i get to know abt its availability.

Giving a link to that page would have made more sense isn't it? If not, then atleast edit the content to make sense out of all that's written! "BACK TO TOP" !
-
I searched back in the forum, and in a couple of mins, i could compile all the threads which pointed towards weak network of RIM... Jus check this thread from the beginning (Page 1) This trend is visible only in the past 6-12 months... Earlier the same members were vouching for the network! Maybe its the pressure of the number of subscribers! but if RIM does an Orange in Mumbai, u'll quickly see the numbers dwindle!!
-
So how do u think we can go abt it? any start up things?
-
Ashok, get a CD burned for me too... I'll collect it from u! Didn't get to see any of those episodes, though i caught up a couple of them on re-runs in the noons! They were truly fun! Anyways, can someone help abhay?(b4 we forget y he started the thread)

such issues are pretty specific for certain handsets and may not be a general issue. Happens so many times, in the tech background... U must ideally report such an issue with the LG Mobile Tech Support. Though the most ideal solution would be a reflash, but if its a small bug, the tech support would really get to know alot from ur problem, provided they are really interested!!

need to install spies at Renaissance to know all abt the new handsets

Its been 2 days and i have been observing, that network is not really working in my favour as well. I travel alot thru the day, and i would generally end up using my phone for calling specifically while travelling. Earlier calls wouldn't drop so frantically which travelling thru different areas. But now they do so very often. I was made to know that CDMA is unlike GSM where calls cannot be carried onto another BTS while travelling. So it shud, theoritically drop. But it wasn't all these last 2 yrs. Now they do!

Change the Lock Code, dont tell anyone abt it Make sure ur bro doesn't read this either!

Annish, i wish i could do the same, but there's already someone using the same "ICEMAN" as his username! Any more suggestions?

A Gtran user interested in another Gtran! Quite something!

always inform the dude at the ASC, to backup stuff b4 upgrading, then u r saved of most hassles. And i guess, 6130 doesn't need backup of ringtones n wallpapers. Still advisable to check it up. Best ASC in Mumbai, i find is the Lower Parel one. Though its too over-crowded. Go wid enuf time on hand! Half hour job takes couple of hrs there, long queues. Firstly can u explain, whether the Archive Folder got deleted or the messages in the Archive Folder got deleted automatically? Any possibility that u went to Erase Messages Option and deleted the contents of Archive Folder?

Always thot RIM ruled the lowest segment! Thank God its not the case
