A pretty interesting and innovative move for an auto giant!! In Mumbai, generally a 20 session(11hrs) of training package of a mid-sized car costs Rs. 2,200/- Comparatively Maruti's training package is quite competitive! Maruti launches driving school Source: IANS. Image Source: AFP MSN.com Bangalore, March 23: Maruti Udyog Ltd, the market leader in the passenger car segment, Wednesday launched what it claimed was India's first high-tech driving training school here. Set up in collaboration with Bimal Auto Agency, one of its dealers, the driving school is modelled on international lines, with key components of classroom training, practical training and attitude training conducted in an air-conditioned environment. "Road safety and traffic management are focus areas in our agenda for corporate social responsibility. Though we have asked the government to set up a national road safety board to reduce road fatalities, we have taken the first initiative towards safe driving," Maruti managing director Jagdish Khattar said while launching the school. The state-of-the-art facility has simulators to give a hands-on feel to learners before they take a vehicle on the road. Various road and weather conditions like fog, dim light, uphill and downhill terrain are also simulated to provide comprehensive training to beginners. "We have imported two simulators from France at a cost of Rs.80 lakhs (Rs.8 million) each. Two more driving schools are being opened by this month-end at Kollam (Kerala) and Chandigarh. We plan to (open) in six more cities through our dealer network later," Khattar said. The company will charge Rs.3,850 for a 20 hour package for beginners. A group of male and female instructors who will manage the school have been trained at the Institute of Driving Training and Research at Delhi. "The first batch of 11 instructors from Bangalore have undergone the training at the institute, which is managed by Maruti," Khattar said. According to the latest statistics, while India has one of the lowest car penetration ratios in the world, its ratio of road fatalities at 14 per 10,000 vehicles is among the highest. "About 100,000 people are killed on Indian roads every year and another 1.2 million are injured. Though the automobile sector is booming with thousands of car hitting the road every month, there is no professional or institutionalised training facility available to learn safe driving," a company official said.

Remember that the image seen on the phone is very small compared to what u see on the desktop. Hence even if u keep the resolution to jus 72-100, the Image quality will be quite good to see on the phone. Other thing that u can do is to reduce the IMAGE SIZE in photoshop [L x B]. Use some permutations and combinations til the size of the image is well below 100kB!
