Perfect... thts wht i wanted to come out as a retort to my post And hence lets not get bound by getting "realistic". Ever heard the song "Imagine" by John Lennon?Getting the right balance would make the difference Anyways, comming back to the thread which was unnecessarily diverted... There is definitely no way to force them... agreed ! But they think we r fools to not recognize them I have maintained, that everybody is welcome here, but have the courage to talk frm the front rather than hiding!

neither does emergency no. 1 !! Y do u they have to be in the fonebook once u add them in the emergency no. list? They dont have to be there automatically. If u see Entry no. 009 is left empty for Emergency nos. But actually u can use it to store any other no. For that go to RIM Dir @ R-World, search out for any damn name there, and select "save to ph.book". It will save it to Entry no. 009. And later u can ammend that entry to whtever u want So dont think that ur Emergency no. is actually saved at entry 009. Its only that those emergency nos. which are added could be called even while ur fone is locked! Now 1 thing tht springs in my mind could we save any damn no. in that emergency no. (Meaning any home no. as well) and can i call that no. even when my phone is deactivated??
-
huh? This is like avoiding the smaller issues for the bigger ones, when u finally know u cant deal with the bigger ones anyways! But i guess, we shud definitely deal with whtever we can, however small or big it may be. A small beginning leads to bigger heights.

The World’s First Free Telephone Service Launches: StanaPhone Communications Unveils Easy-to-Use StanaPhone NEW YORK CITY (PRWEB) June 6, 2004--StanaPhone Communications today announced the launch of StanaPhone, the world’s first free telephone service. StanaPhone uses Voice over IP (VoIP) technology, and works with standard personal computers running Windows 98, 2000 or XP coupled with a PC headset. Perfect for small businesses and consumers, StanaPhone requires no monthly fee or set up charges. Simple to activate, users can visit www.stanaphone.com to download the StanaPhone software and sign up for their free telephone number. By adding a standard PC headset that can be purchased at almost any consumer electronics store to their PC, users can make and receive free telephone calls to and from any phone number in the United States, Canada and a selection of other countries. StanaPhone’s advancements in VoIP applications have enabled the Company to provide the same or better sound quality than a “land-lines” like a normal household phone. Michael Choupak, CEO of StanaPhone Communications, said, “Years ago, there were legitimate concerns about the sound quality of VoIP. Now, technologies are maturing to the point that industry analysts are predicting that up to 44 percent of the world’s corporate telephone traffic may be IP-based by 2008. StanaPhone is already ahead of that curve, having worked extensively with some of the world’s leading acoustic experts to ensure high-quality voice communications. Plus, unlike other VoIP services such as Vonage and Packet8, the convenience and flexibility of StanaPhone is free.” Similar to popular e-mail accounts, such as Hotmail, subscribers who activate a StanaPhone telephone number can keep it as long as they use it regularly. If the number is idle (no calls made for 45 days), the number will expire and the account terminated. StanaPhone subscribers receive 100 free minutes of outgoing calls to regular and mobile telephone numbers per 30-days (each month). Other calls to and from StanaPhone are unlimited. StanaPhone’s Account Manager feature enables users to view their account information online 24/7 and see how many calls have been made and the corresponding details. Choupak shared, “Because StanaPhone can be used on any PC, it’s a great solution for everyone. A person visiting an Internet café anywhere in the world can log into his or her StanaPhone account and make calls. College students who want to phone home without incurring expensive long distance charges or having the hassle of carrying a telephone credit card can use StanaPhone. Home office workers can establish a dedicated telephone number through StanaPhone, enabling them to keep their home telephone line separate and private.” Visit www.stanaphone.com and follow the simple software download instructions to activate StanaPhone. For additional information, please e-mail info@stanaphone.com.

wht u r doin is simply using the Speed Dial system. Wht rajat explained is right. Emergency Nos. are set to be dialed even when ur fone is locked or disabled for service.
-
Its always better to get ur phone upgraded for better future options to be accessible on the fone, unless u want to play arnd with other tweaking of the fone, which might get restricted with the newer versions. Otherwise, upgrades are always recommendable! And be sure to get a receipt before handing over the fone to the service center guys if they ask u to keep the fone overnite and get another reciept with the date clearly mentioned when u took the fone back, to avoid any billing problems(overcharging) or unauthorised usage of the fone!

The newgen smart phones Soumik Sen | April 24, 2004 Are you a harassed executive who's tired of lugging a 2.5kg laptop around the country for meetings and presentations? The Day of Deliverance may be at hand (but not if you are a personal computer manufacturer). The mobile phone industry is on the warpath once again. This time their smart phones are geared to take on laptops, PDAs and all the other gizmos designed for people on the move. The cellphone industry has learnt from its past mistakes. Remember the Nokia Communicator which sent e-mails but which lost out because it was bulky? This time round the cellphone companies have figured out what the customer on the move really needs and they've tailored their phones to meet these demands. So you will, on one hand, have enough computing power to send and receive emails and to access the Net. But you wouldn't, for instance, be able to download a three-hour movie on your new cellphone. From the market leader Nokia there's the 9210i, (which should perhaps be called Son of Communicator), priced at Rs 33,919. Nokia has upgraded the 9210i and it's Windows compatible so that users can use Word documents, spreadsheets and even Powerpoint presentations while on the move. Users can even take their 9210i, and plug it in to make presentations. You can use both Lotus Notes and Outlook. The dual band hands-free phone (which works everywhere but the US) also has a RealOne player, that enables real time video and audio streaming. Or how about the Sony Ericsson's P900 smartphone, based on the Symbian operating system, which offers video recording and messaging capability, 65K colour touch screen, and increased memory. The P900, like all smart phones, provides full PDA/organiser functions and Internet browsing using Opera software. Also, it offers 3D gaming experiences with games like the V-Rally 1, which incorporate polyphonic sound on stereo headphones and 3D landscape details. All that comes for Rs 40,000. What's more, online phone updates from www.sonyericsson.com allow users to download the latest software directly to the phone and get the requisite edge at the next board room presentation. At a slightly cheaper price there's Motorola's A760 which is all yours for Rs 20,495. The A760 combines a PC, PDA, camera, MP3 player and speakerphone with advanced messaging, instant Internet access and Bluetooth wireless technology in a single device. The Motorola A760's open operating system and extensive PDA supporting software allows users to sync back with office computers via secure Over the Air Bluetooth wireless technology, infrared or USB connections. Also, from the same company, there's the soon-to-be-launched MPx200, equipped with even more advanced software like the Exchange 2003 apart from the usual features of a smart phone. The MPx200 enables users to view streaming video using Packet Video (where video files come compressed in packets of data for easy storage and transfer), listen to WMA (WindowsMedia file) and MP3 music files with the popular Windows Media Player application and the phone's rich polyphonic speaker. What's more -- the camera supports a video/photo album and photo caller ID functionality (which brings up the callers photo) with a slide show option, which can put names on the faces that you clicked on. Other new players are also getting into the act. Take the Eten P300 which claims to be one of the world's smallest pocket PC cum mobile phones. It is distributed in India by Capitel Wireless, which is in the telecom infrastructure business. The Eten P300 has 320x240 pixel resolution, with touch screen features and it can be used like most other smart phones with a stylus or fingertip to talk on any GSM/GPRS network in the world and also to take photos and clips with its webcam. Powered by a 200 MHz processor, the device comes with a 64 MB RAM and 32 MB of flash ROM to store the operating system (OS) and other applications. The P300 runs on the Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC OS and has built in applications like pocket PC versions of the calendar, contacts, Inbox, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Media player and even applications like Image Maker, Multimedia Manager, Photo Capture and a SIM manager. The P300 with a warranty of one year is priced at Rs 35,999, and could easily replace the laptop and the vanilla phone because of its versatility and good looks. Another new entrant in India is the Austrian-made Tel.Me's T919i, priced at Rs 18,999. This phone has all the standard offerings including a digital camera, Windows XP compatibility and a touch-sensitive interactive screen. Moreover, the optional multimedia card allows users to store MP3 files and then use them as ringtones.

All over india - This is how TRAI wanted to segregate operator wise starting nos. for BASIC telecom operators. The prefix for each operator's landlines are 2- MTNL /BSNL 3- Reliance 4- Bharti(can someone confirm this?) 5- TATA(hughes) forgot the rest! Now the ones, that went for Unified Licensing Regime will have to go for Level 9 i.e. 10 digit nos. Sopes 92-Bharti 93-Reliance 94-BSNL 97-TATA 98-Rest of the small players! Once reliance goes onto 10-digit scheme, its landlines will still have eight digit nos. with prefix "3" This 98 Series is absolutely confusing. Its got all criss-crossed now! In Mumbai, Cellular Operators fell short of the access levels given to them, and Hence new levels were given to them... See wht happens here! Orange(Hutch) - 9820x / 9819x BPL Mobile - 9821x / 9870x MTNL - 9869x Airtel - 9892x
-
One way or the other it seems we'd have questions on this!
-
Its quite good for me Atlast lesser ppl will keep bothering me!!
-
Aman was correct when he said that 93##******. Refer the BSNL numbering scheme, coz tht is the closest match for the new Reliance numbering scheme. Ur phone no. maynot contain the complete area code i.e. 471 and maybe the rest of the digits will also completely change! Wait n watch!

If u guys rem, in Ver08, when u select the name from the ShortCut Key(RightArrow) then u could only call the primary no. stored in the entry name. But if u go thru the NAMES(softkey) then u can select any of the nos. in the same entry. With the s/w upgrade(ver15) they merged the two. ie. whether u go thru the NAMES(softkey) or the shortcut key, u reach the same place. Now the bug that was left was that the first u use the shortkey after rebooting the phone, u reach the old version shortkey, where u cannot select secondary nos. in an entry. But if once u go thru the NAMES (softkey) then after that if u go thru the SHORTCUT key, u'd reach the new version's menu! all pretty weird. I dont understand something, dont they try out certain things before giving the handset softwares to the ppl? Are they so dumb? Dont they know what a "flowchart" of the phone s/w shud be?

Go Vote! http://www.go925fm.com/elections.htm Only those people with their names on the electoral roll are allowed to vote in the Indian Elections. This electoral roll is normally revised every year to add new name or delete the names of those who have died or moved out of a constituency. How to register yourself? Because you registered for the last polls or have a voter’s identity card, it does not mean that you will automatically be registered for the next election. The first thing you must do is check if your name is on the voters list. A Registration Office is seated at every polling station during office hours to enable you to check if your name is in the rolls. You can also call the electoral office or AGNI (the Action for Good Governance and Networking in India) on (022) 23611327. If I am not registered? If your name is not on the electoral rolls what you now have to do is get your name added on the list by filling and submitting Form 6. The other forms you may need include: Form 7 for the deletion of names Form 8 for the correction of your name or address and, Form 8A for getting transferred from one constituency to another. The other documents include any proof of name and residence like a copy of your ration card or any bills, tax vouchers or your license. Some officials may insist on the pink slip, given when the officials verify houses during the survey. But, even without this, forms WILL be accepted. Forms can now also be submitted in bulk by the Chairman / Secretary of your Cooperative Housing Society on the letterhead. Has someone seen "YUVA" and reflect in those terms here? I'ven't seen it as yet. Heard the story, seems quite interesting!
-
Whose "they" in ur post? I was talking abt Tiger, who doesn't use R-Connect. And he has a limit of 1GB which is pretty decent. I guess u were talking abt R-Connect where there is data limits of 250MB.

The problem is that they dont give u anything on an undertaking abt the clear detailed specifications of Tariffs. Instead, they make the customers sign an undertaking that "tariffs are subject to change without prior notice"!

What SPYMAC or RIMWEB.com ??
-
Wow that was awesome! touched Well how did u bump into this forum? Let us know here
-
Hmm, so its finally out for discussion I wouldn't really have a problem with RIM employees or for that matter RIM top-notch ppl(who have decision making powers) to be on board browsing thru the forum. Simply becoz, this is the only and as of now the best "review" board present for them!(unless they carry out market surveys themselves). They are getting this stuff free from all of us. But wht sounds a bit weird is that they dont disclose their identities here. Well with "weird" i only mean, that someone would hide only if he feels guilty of himself. Do they really feel guilty? I think they do with a few of their errors. Thats wht keeps them hiding all over. Now that all of us know for sure that there are RIM employees out here on the forum(Dont underestimate the ADMIN and the SUPER MODS We absolutely know each one, who is who, though all of us r "small") why dont these RIM employees start presenting themselves right out on the board. We will all with all our hands in the air APPLAUD them for their fabulous work
