Did anything happen on this front, aman? Whts the scene now?
  2. Tarrifs: Other Operators Vs. Reliance

Oh ok.. so u meant "Reliance has made calls to GSM phone expensive to make calls to CDMA phones cheap" ?? Coz wht i read was "Reliance has made calls to GSM phone expensive to make calls to GSM phones cheap" If thts so, i would like to say tht they have kept call charges to CDMA phones least coz they knew for sure with their marketing plans tht Reliance would be the market leader in CDMA and tht is wht we see today. Their marketing and sales promoted use of Rel to Rel most, and hence they dont really mind ppl calling up other CDMA operators via STD. Imagine they are charging only 40p if u call a STD TATA no. !! When all of us know tht they got to pay 40p to TATA for taking the call and much more money to the National Long Distance Carrier. If thts so, surely they r cross-subsidising as u said. But i am assured that Reliance can be the best deal to the consumer only if he knows how to use his tariff plan to the optimum... Jus for ur knowledge... In Dec2003 i had been to Hyd, and used arnd 200 mins of Incoming calls while i was there! And i paid absolutely zero bucks coz i managed to live within 400 mins! If i would have done tht with a GSM phone, i would have been ruined

  23. Reliance Infocomm and State Bank of India tie up for CDMA wireless connectivity for 100 ATMs Largest deployment of wireless ATMs in India DAKC (Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City), Navi Mumbai April 16, 2004 India's largest bank, State Bank of India and the largest wireless service provider, Reliance Infocomm have tied up for CDMA wireless connectivity for 100 ATMs across the country. This is the largest migration of ATMs in wireless connectivity mode and marks an important milestone in the banking and wireless communication fields. The agreement follows the successful pilot installation of a few ATMs by State Bank of India using Reliance Infocomm's wireless connectivity over the last four months. State Bank of India, on February 09, 2004, had deployed India's first floating ATM in a ferry that transports people and vehicles to Kochi from Vypeen, a nearby island using Reliance Infocomm's wireless connectivity. "The CDMA-based Wireless connectivity solution enables quick deployment of ATMs by banks, apart from the advantage of rolling out a nationwide network of Wireless ATMs that are secure and cost efficient. Unlike VSAT-based connectivity, which banks traditionally rely on, the CDMA solution eliminates the need of rooftop rights and the resultant delays. Reliance Infocomm's CDMA-based Wireless connectivity scores over other ATM connectivity options on counts like speed of deployment, mobility and cost," said an official of the State Bank of India. "We are proud to partner with the State Bank of India in bringing the benefits of world class technology to India. With its decision to deploy wireless ATMs across the country, the State Bank of India has emerged as the leader in new generation banking practices that takes advantage of the latest developments in information and communication technology. We hope to introduce more such innovative solutions that will help Indian enterprises to offer world class services to their customers" said Mr. Kishore Oka, Head - Finance Vertical, Reliance Infocomm Ltd. About State Bank of India The State Bank Group has a presence in every area of the financial sector viz. Banking, Mutual Fund, Life Insurance, Merchant Banking, Credit Cards, etc. State Bank of India is India's largest commercial bank in terms of branches, assets and profits. At the end of financial year 2002-2003, the Bank had total assets of Rs.3758.77 billion (US$79.15 billion), total deposits of Rs.2961.23 billion (US$ 62.35 billion) and a net profit of Rs.31.05 billion (US$ 654 million). The Group has a large network of over 3800 ATMs. About Reliance Infocomm Reliance Infocomm Ltd., a Reliance group company, is India's largest mobile service provider with over 7 million customers. 24. Reliance Tries To Dump Max Gamer

Alrite, its been quite some time tht i've been reading this thread, n its time to comment here now. Firstly, rimweb.com wouldn't close down under any external pressures! So be absolutely fearless abt this. Secondly as someone mentioned earlier, even rimweb.com is hosted on servers outside India, and internet is no one's property and hence no website can be shut down by a pvt enterprise becoz they felt so! It can only be blocked under the IT Act 2000, whose directions need to come from the Govt. of India to all the Indian ISPs. And i dont think we've offended the govt as yet! Atmost, Reliance being an ISP, can block websites from their own protocols. I dont see anything more happening, but thts the last thing they would resort to. Next thing is tht pointing out vulnerabilities in any product is not hacking a product or service. As yet we've not discussed on how to hack their Servers. Only if something of tht sort happens distinctly with codes and ways to crack into their systems, on any of the threads can they sue us. We'll take care to manage such things here. We had discussed enuf while we were talking abt ways to insert ringtones in the handsets, n we found tht we r not intruding into reliance or LG's copyrights, but at max into the music company's copyrights. If any music company points out to us for such a thing, we know how to deal with it. u all dont have to worry abt it. I dont know wht maxgamers had on the website tht was offensive to reliance n y they pulled it down coz as yet they haven't clearly talked abt it. As far as i know, since i've been in contact with quite a few MNCs in the past, wht they usually do, is pressurise other enterprises just to show their might, even when they know tht the person can be useful for them, and then they'll try n get the same person to work under them, coz they never would want tht person to rule them, but they want tht person to be ruled by them. So these frightening techniques r just ways of pulling the Person down! Another important thing. If any member of rimweb.com is approached by any agency for such an issue, pls refer them to me at chiragdedhia@rimweb.com coz since i put up in Mumbai, i can deal with things here much more easily. Let them put up their case or argument to me, n i'll definitely do my best to deal with it.
  25. Phone Lamination

It costs something like 15 bucks in Mumbai. I had it done in the first few months, but found tht since our dear phones get heated up quite quickly, lamination doesn't allow the phone to cool down soon. So i resorted to covers with zips, which r avl at averagely 20 bucks.
