  8. Yahoo Messenger @ R-World

didn't Ashok point out somewhere, tht we have "Domestic SMS" free for three yrs! Anyways, doesn't really matter till the service is good. I feel, the day Reliance ties up with Yahoo or MSN, it'll be one of the biggest events for reliance customers using Internet !!
  9. PC Sync Software

hmm.. i used that software, worked pretty fine for Phone Book... What u got to rem, is that u can overwrite the data from PC to Phone and Phone to PC. So keep a watchful eye when u synchronize. Remember to select the right option for synchronizing. Well Sunil, i dont think those various options of Biz2, Home2 etc are for LG2030. They didn't get stored, when i used them, on my phone either! And if they dont store on the phone i dont think u'll get the name while someone calls u from that no. But still i think we can give it a try.

  12. I read the headline, and thought there will some decent talk on number portability... lol.. but theres nothing in it except the first line! Anyways, if number portability is approved in india, it'll be one more big thing for all of us... But it will also be one more big confusion that would arrive in india too soon.... I somehow feel that the telecom industry is just racing without breathing... and TRAI is the biggest contributor to this confusion.
  13. MTNL in Mumbai has had such Bill Dispute Settlement "Courts" since ages here... They too run into similar probs... but since they were the only ones to provide landlines in mumbai, once upon a time, ppl had no choice. And since, then we didn't have such forums on the internet(I think there was no internet then!! ) ppl like u and me, weren't really able to flout our disgust here... hovs, billing probs have always been there, right from telecom companies, to railways to airways! u r jus too much carried away by ur prob with Rel !! chill man In Mumbai, Reliance had sponsored a bit event at MMRDA grounds, Bandra and i also recd a msg which read that if i pay my bill there, then there are chances that i get some "cool" gift... lol... i never recd a bill, so was not priviledged enuf for the damn ****ty gift !! Anyways... hovs, such stupid things always come up everywhere, its jus some gimmik.... jus forget abt it !
  14. Credit fraudsters, beware!

Its time, telecom companies exchange information on defaulters... Read below to know more... Credit fraudsters, beware! Rediff.com K Ram Kumar | March 04, 2004 11:57 IST http://in.rediff.com/money/2004/mar/04perfin.htm Want to trick a bank into giving loans by palming off same title deed? Possible. Want to con a bank into giving loan by showing a fake salary certificate? Possible. Want to take a vehicle loan by showing bogus dealer invoice/ registration certificate from the road transport office? Possible. With overzealous banks falling over each other to push retail loans, all these devious possibilities and more exist for now. Waking up to the threat posed by ingenious fraudsters and also to contain 'collateral damage' in the future, banks, housing finance companies, non-banking finance companies and credit card companies are all set to exchange credit information for the first time ever under the aegis of the Credit Information Bureau India Ltd. Come April, habitual credit card defaulters and concurrent home loan borrowers beware! Your game is up. The bureau aims to mitigate the perennial fear of bankers that their credit decisions might go awry. All that a member-bank will need to do is to run a background check with the bureau on past financial transactions and creditworthiness of prospective borrowers before processing their loan applications. The bureau will be a repository of positive and negative credit information. Credit grantors can get reports on prospective borrowers from us to overcome the problem of serial defaults and concurrent borrowings, according to Satish Mehta, managing director, CIBIL. Exchange of credit information will be based purely on the principle reciprocity. Just becoming a member of the bureau doesn't entitle the credit grantor to source information. The credit grantor has to feed information to the bureau at regular intervals. Past credit history is a fair indicator of a borrower's future credit behaviour. So, if a borrower has a good credit track record, a credit grantor could extend benefits such as finer interest rates. Else, the creditor will do well to avoid the borrower and save itself being saddled with a non-performing asset. Elaborating on the frauds taking place in retail loans, V S R Murthy, general manager, Union Bank of India, pointed out that the most common modus operandi adopted by unscrupulous borrowers is to avail of credit facilities by submitting forged/ fake documents in respect of properties offered to banks as securities. In a number of cases it was found that builders/ developers had defrauded banks by pocketing housing loans, which they managed to obtain in the names of fictitious persons by submitting forged documents. Vehicle/ consumer loans were obtained by submitting fake/ forged invoices/ quotations and were misappropriated without creating charge on the security. "Beginning April, credit information assimilation/ dissemination will be in respect of consumer/ retail loans. Once the system pertaining to exchange of credit information on small loans stabilises, the bureau will take up credit information exchange relating to corporate and SME loans," Mehta said. Currently, over 80 credit grantors in India, accounting for nearly 90 per cent of loans disbursed by the formal financial system, have become members of the bureau. Mehta feels that at Rs 10 per report, the price is too small to pay to avoid sticky assets. Indications are that the price could go up to Rs 17 per report as the bureau's database as well as the number of reports generated grows manifold. CIBIL is a four-way venture between the State Bank of India, HDFC, Dun & Bradstreet Information Services (India) Pvt. Ltd and Trans Union International Inc. CIBIL is already maintaining the database of suit-filed accounts of Rs 1 crore (Rs 10 million) and above and suit-filed accounts (wilful defaulters) of Rs 25 lakh (Rs 2.5 million) and above. The central bank has instructed all credit grantors that as a prudential requirement they must incorporate a 'consent clause' in all loan documents, enabling them to share data with the bureau.
  15. Credit fraudsters, beware!

very true.. Infact a yr back i had read in TOI that even India is looking forward to work a social security numbering scheme... But this babudom will take several decades to come up with something. Anyways, as of now i guess the PAN No. is regarded as the absolute security system. And every company insists the customer to give his PAN no. if he is a tax payer...
  16. Recharge your RIM prepaid with 2 key strokes

wow, had never heard of such a thing!! Glad to let us all know abt this! Moreover ur post was so comprehensive! so perfect!! Gr8 job!
  17. Issues with RIM Ethics !

Are u still contesting the fact that their Connectivity is not the best? or they didn't give full mobility to their customers fighting the odds, and finally paid up crores frm its own cofers? or tht DAPO doesn't have the lowest airtime rates in the world ?? Bas, these last three things r more than enuf for us not to crib!! All ur other issues stand very true and am on ur side when u talk abt them. But the fact is that DAPO users have been coined as the true pioneer customers and been given all the benefits till date. I dont know whts in store for all of us frm 31st March. Am very skeptic abt it myself. But lets hold on for some more time...
  18. Yahoo Messenger @ R-World

And tht shud include DAPO too?? hehe... the day it happens, crores of DAPO users will be up in arms and u'll find them writing here at the forum abt the "huge" increase in SMS rates...! lol.. Whtever, am sincerely awaiting the Yahoo Messenger Service on Rel via SMS!
  19. Yahoo Messenger @ R-World

Yeps absolutely sure, my frenz using ORANGE(Mumbai) have got an SMS from their operators saying tht they shall be now charged for every SMS recd via MSN at the prevailing outgoin SMS rate. u can confirm with ur regional Hutch Cust. Care. Yeps, as i said very recently more operators have been added. Earlier it was jus HUTCH, Orange, Escotel and i think Guj's Commander(i dont rem the name correctly)... It was like a service real exclusive for Orange customers in mumbai. And loads of ppl signed onto Orange prepaid becoz of this service. Its very similar to how we have R-World exclusive for us. Now since Yahoo n MSN are charging for their services, they have obviously roped in more operators. And the operators have coolly passed on the cost to the customers Oh lets not talk abt tht... coz obviously DAPO users would be using it the most. Being a DAPO user i send atleast abt 1500-2000 msgs a month making it sure to use Club priveledges! how can u forget that the advt industry is the most booming industry at the moment! Even non-profit organisations like political parties r spending heavy amts on these!! hehe.. And u shud really note the way these SMS carry advts at the end, tht u send via Yahoo,MSN in those limited 160 characters! They know how to do it...!
  20. Can I connect BSNL dialup via LG LSP340E ?

thnx for the finding dude!! I had read this somewhere before but forgot the implications of it.... It says, But how does this mean, that every BSO/CO has to provide access to 172xxxx ?? Maybe its part of the national numbering scheme. But if thats the thing, then can we dial 1600xxxxx and 1901xxxxx nos. from Reliance too?? Can Reliance also provide such services to its customers in the same series? Can someone throw more light on the National Numbering Scheme? anyways, if this amendment has to be considered valid for this issue of ours, 45 days is already over now... And we shud be able to access these nos.! So does that also mean that a Reliance Customer access MTNL's 24880000 for accessing MTNL's internet?? I dont think so, coz MTNL bills its Internet Customers in its regular MTNL bills! I am totally confused over this issue!
  21. Prepaid pick-up.

how can u ppl bet on such talks... They have been giving such vague answers always!!
  22. Yahoo Messenger @ R-World

Well jus to let u'll know, till late the different operators that u find in yahoo msger were not from the same circle. If u notice carefully, those players were carefully chosen. Like from every town there can be only one operator. So even if there are several operators in that list, none of them are competing against each other!! Jus recently they've added other operators, but somehow their subscriber bases are irrelevant... Like till now, MSN has just Hutch(Orange) in their list of operators for INDIA. And moreover Hutch even charges for incoming SMS for MSN Services!! Still they r the only ones there!! Its a game of monopoly. So am jus afraid tht Reliance could be kept away from it... Anyways, who'd be the most happiest if this service is extended to Rel, more than me?? Well here again, sunil, DAPO users r in the minimum, so its not really significant. As far as the charges go, thts where the inter-operatibility agreements come into picture, and in such cases, its not really the fees, its like getting Reliance customers hitting Yahoo! links... Its really the hits on their domain, which in turn would get them more sponsors to advt on Yahoo automatically, looking at the 7-8mn Reliance customer base. Thts how they look at it... They may give Rel this facility free too. Reliance is smart at getting their way out. We've experienced their marketing managers in bombay over such issues first handedly...! Its not the question of being the first, coz in TATA's case, they hardly market their services well. They too r using the world's finest 3G CDMA. But look at their market penetration! sad! They r not tht risk-playing company. Its been their trademark to play defensively, slowly n gradually. But they keep in mind their quality of service. Today no one is complaining abt their billing, roamin or sms! oh aren't u aware of their cust care dudes, thts a regular reply, u cant really bet on this!! heheh...
  23. Issues with RIM Ethics !

The above two posts have been moved here since they were posted in a wrong forum. I guess the new title says it all... Moreover hovs, the issues that u r trying to fight it out here, are pretty much understandable. I too agree, to some extent, the company has tried to play some games with the customer mindset to reserve benefits for itself. If this is the case, someone has to make them realise of their mistakes. How else, other than a legal recourse would suit these issues the best?? u were to go ahead at an apt time, right? So which is ur apt time?? Now since the company has given u a 10% discount on ur outstanding dues, am sure u'll delay the process of resorting to Legal ways. Maybe thts their strategy... whoever talks more, give them discounts n slow them down...
  24. Yahoo Messenger @ R-World

i jus happen to see >> LOGIN TO MOBILE DEVICE >> in yahoo! messenger... in india, TATA Teleservices has joined in! u can see that the example of the no. given there is also a CDMA no. which has first 2 digits of STD code (40) and rest of the digits are of CDMA no.(55210000). Now if TATA could get tht done, y hasn't Reliance done it?? Bcoz that way, we can have incoming msgs on yahoo delivered to our mobile phones as an SMS! ... I jus fear that since TATA has signed in with Yahoo for this service now, Reliance might not be able to now partner Yahoo for it. Monopoly games jus everywhere!! Atleast Reliance should now tie up with MSN for this...
  25. The battle lines are drawn

i dont agree to this... Its simply the ignorance of individuals thts led to this kind of a thinking... I've never had Cable TV at my home, and for the last 6 yrs, i dont even have a TV !! no one believes it unless, they check it out themselves! haha... doesn't really matter! am happy tht i n my family dont have to spend time in front of that idiot box!! we rather get together and discuss, debate and get some peace (since theres no noise bcoz of it)!! I would challenge anyone to take this up and remove their cable connection for a month and see the difference in the home atmosphere! Pretty difficult???
