  1. Handset Purchase Monopoly !

    What sunil meant, when he said "is it necessary to buy the handset from Reliance?" was that "dont we ahve the right to buy the phone from the open market?" and not that he was asking someone abt it... coz he had 1st hand info from the webworld abt it... The fact as Dhiren said was real clear that CDMA handsets are not available in the open market and only hence we have to buy it from Reliance only. Reliance has been very smart by making deals with all the suppliers that CDMA handsets shud only go thru Reliance's channel and not be available in the open market until sometime... Reliance has set its targets for breaking even in a yr... and recovering 25000 crs in a yr is not something small... so they devised these strategies such that they could recover their money very soon... and thts how this monopoly was created...
  2. oopss.. ooopss.. its risen to almost 8 million now !! Anyways, wallpapers do keep on changing.. and i think most of us being under the impression that the wallpapers **** dont go back there... my latest experience was gr8!!! all the categories have a different set of wallpapers now.. Anyone checked out the HOLI wallpapers???!! I liked all the sections except the celebrity ones! and ringtones! Ridiculously they have renamed some of the old ringtones, to jus let ppl think they are new!! sad ways of doin all this!!

    hovs sent me a PM... here it is... I just want to make it public so that other members can benefit from the conversation... Yeps, hovs the speed wouldn't be more than 14-15 kbytes. and if u get around 11.. thts fair enuf.. n i think 11 is damn cool... am on Lan based cable network and i get 5kb download and 2 kb upload speeds and tht too in MUMBAI ! so u are far better.... well u were right in saying that probs we are not destined to get better speeds as of yet... T1 and 10 mbps is like a distant dream... maybe my children might have it yeps... ur internet usage is used up from the 400 mins... and thts the biggest drawback. coz i wud rather make STD RIM to RIM calls in those 400 mins rather than using it in for Internet! But dude, thts just marketing, and they have to play all these cards, otherwise ppl like u and me wud eat them away.... now do u realise why TATA doesn't venture into such things... Reliance atleast provides the service but plays it safe.. :'( Tht Dormant term of urs here.. is still not understandable by me... are u still meaning wht i meant in my earlier post... or r u trying to make a different point here?

    Ark that was something real concrete i shud say! Can we all make it a point to write to Reliance in their customer complaint form and request for an urgent upgrade to the 7130 software?? I think even if all of us take simply a min to copy and paste ARK's post in that form, we can get something atleast moving on RIM's part... what do u guys say?? Together all of us, overtime might be able to make a difference. So wht if i dont own a 7130, I am sending my mail to reliance right away.. would u also follow me?? Can someone get LG CDMA's customer care email id for me too???

    firstly, i want to confirm whether u r aware that 115 kbps stands for 115 kilobits per second. That means 115 kilobits per sec = 14.375 kilobytes per second. So if u have got 11kilobytes speed... thts like great !!! Ok another thing, that i have also noted with lg2030 is that when the connection is established for Internet, as soon as a page completely loads, the call is disconnected and when u click on something else, the call connects again.... so does that mean, if one page takes say 25 secs to load, the call disconnects but u r charged for 1 min complete?? is that wht u were trying to say hovs??? and what were the other problems u've found?

    i still insist that u shud visit WebWorld for these kind of jobs coz u can show the exec these things in person and explain the details and demand an explanation... Do that n then tell us how it works... BTW whts *366 ?? is that cust care no. for the Budget users?? I've only used *333 and am a DAPO subscriber.
  8. R-Connect incorrect bills

    that reply u got was via SMS or Email?? coz if thts so, they dont really verify anything in that and u wont get any concrete answer to ur problem. What i suggest is, that u take a print of the logs of ur usage to the nearest WebWorld and demand an explanation for the RConnect charges shown on ur bill. Tell them that u have a log of usage from ur computer and u are very sure that u have been overbilled coz u used internet only in the non-peak hrs.(be damn sure abt this... check the non-peak timings and all b4 stating all this) And tell them, that as of now since the matter is unresolved, u are willing to pay only the bill without R-Connect charges... Do that coz otherwise ur phone would get disconnected and u might have to pay reconnection charges as well, later! If they dont accept the payment that ways, demand in writing from them tht they are not accepting it... or otherwise, write a check of the particular amt and drop it in the collection boxes and that amt will get reflected in ur next bill!! Let us know as to wht happens...
  9. Wrong Character Display / RBill / Version

    well just to let u'll know, that my R-Bill Menu was giving an error that the bill is not available though the guy at Cust Care said that the bill application was switched on from their end... The problem i later found was that the Bills from October till date have not been generated for my no. as yet. And hence since the application was switched on only in December, the R-Bill Menu had no bills to show up.. and hence that error persists till date. Well, i enquired abt my bills and i have got a confirmation from RIL that my bill is under process and shall be released on 25th Feb 2004. As far as that dictionary problem was concerned abt adding of hindi characters, it has been rectified as soon as i got the phone flashed as wht Sunil suggested. The LG Service Center, got my phone reseted and all my contents of the phone were reinserted to the phone back !!

  11. Sms outgoing problem

    if ppl type an SMS in T9 language... its perfectly fine... but there are certain characters used in International phones which are not read by these indianised Reliance phones like the characters in place of e,u etc... But ur problem is something really different and it seems to be a Network problem as well as the handset problem. So first get ur Handset checked at a good LG Service Center or a LG Service Point for Level 2 towns gags, let us knw frm which region u r, maybe someone whose been to one cud help u out..
  12. Help on VoiceMail

    Well, being a billing user i've used VoiceMail extensively for 4-5 months and it worked superb! but the only glitch was that calls wud get transfered to voicemail when there is a slight network problem also, meaning fraction of secs wud get a call to go onto voice mail and then i have to retrieve that msg by dialling *600 which went paid... though it was 40p/min for me...!!

    naah... in my case, this service center dude, transfered the entire mobile's memory to his PC and after reseting the phone, he transfered it back... He first told me that he could only retain the phone book, but to his and my surprise, everything including my Phone book, SMS, Scheduler etc was retained and transfered back to the phone

    This used to happen earlier for me too, on my LG handset. Once i got the handset reset at the LG Service Center, this problem stopped and i could instantly view MMS... y dont u get ur phone reset at a NOKIA service center. Check for a service center here or here
  15. Handset Purchase Monopoly !

    Well, i understand that RIL has other better features too... But wht i meant while saying that we cud use a phone with maybe lesser features that may not be compatible with R-World, is that, there can be lesser end users who need not want such features! so if there is someone who doesn't wish to pay for all these additional services in the phone, can go for a cheaper handset, something like the new Motorola C131, and can still simply make n recieve calls!! Lets not forget that there are still ppl who use GARUDA(Mumbai) and TARANG(BSNL) where they just have the priviledge of making and recieving calls.. not even SMS!! And at damn cheap rates.. Reliance is no match their tariffs!!!! Yeps, i guess, TRAI had made it mandatory for all operators to keep a basic Standard plan open for all where the user can get their own handset and get a min connection and call rates... But invariably, under such plans, Operators keep the pulse of each call so low that it becomes uneconomical.... Like MTNL keeps 2min pulse for a local call from FIXED to FIXED in it... whereas other plans have 3 min pulse for a local call...!! So customers are discouraged by ways of economics to go for such plans!

    naah... i think they r just reducing their problems by outsourcing the bill collection centers and reaching out to more and more ppl.. so that ppl find it convenient enuf to pay at the nearest collection center! If at all this headache is taken off from them, then its high time, they shud start focussing on improving their billing systems...
  17. New Data PCMCIA Card from Reliance

    hi Alkesh, glad to have u at the forum! According to me, there wud be pros and cons for every thing tht u can go for.. Finally u need to check ur pockets and ur monthly expenses on this. The data Card thing, though sounds expensive, will be of real high quality coz tht is absolutely used just for transfering data and not voice. Since its dedicated to one aspect, its sure to be of superior quality. but the cost factor is something u got to check for urself. As far as using Internet for a couple of hrs a day is concerned, goin for a Reliance Mobile or Reliance Fixed Line wont make a difference really. But wht wud make a difference would be ur usage of the phone otherwise. Wht i mean here, is since u already have an ORANGE connection and dont want to do away wid it, then a FIXED WIRELESS PHONE would be a better option, simply becoz u'd have lower call rates at FWP and much lower RConnect charges there. For ex: u have a FIXED to FIXED/WLL call at Re 1 per 3 mins(PLAN 1000) and FIXED to GSM at Re. 1 per 90 secs. Also importantly, Off-peak internet charges are just Rs. 12/hr !! For more details on the tariff check here... The R-Connect Data Cables are available at places other than WebWorlds too, but they might hamper ur connectivity or speed.   19. with this pace, Reliance Infocomm will jus push this company and take it to greater hts, in some months i guess!!! I wouldn't be amazed if Reliance breaks even with its investment in purchasing the company in some 200crs in a couple of yrs! if they do so, that'll be one more FIRST in the pockets of Reliance!!   23. maybe Sumit means that DOT has allowed Reliance to change its customers' numbers in a progressive manner, i.e. phasewise in the next 6 months.. Is that right Sumit?? Well, sumit, once again, can u tell us, where did u get this information from?? Try and give us a link to the website where this news was posted. It just adds credibility to ur post..

    Well.... Alot of things are very individualistic in nature. U might be really hurt by the way a person at RWW talks to u maybe... and we easily associate that person to the Company. But it maybe that person's character trait to talk that stupid way. And tomo if u talk to Anil Ambani or someone in their family u might feel that they are top brass.... So its all pretty individualistic. As ashok pointed out that if there is someone at RWW who talks nonsense wid u... u just simply shun him down at that moment itself and make him understand that he is representing a multi million dollar company and his every action is being associated with the company. So he better take care of wht he speaks. Sometimes it so happens, that some ppl might enjoy such kind of talks and some dont ... So that executive might be just trying to get frndly wid customers... frenz believe me, it happens jus everywhere... Its not just at RWW
  25. Well when reliance entered the market, even TRAI was aware of its potential of amassing a huge market and hence they were alloted the prefix "3" and BSNL/MTNL were alloted "2" and others etc... But at that time CDMA licence was clubbed with the "Basic operator" Licence. And it was sensible enuf for reliance being given a different prefix right from the beginning. Imagine if the numbering wouldn't have changed then, n later after so many new customers, there would have been a complete chaos and shortage of nos. I think TRAI was far-sighted enuf then. the thing now is the new move of unifying the licence. but the problem is tht not all operators have opted for it.. so there r these two digiting schemes yet. well my personal opinion is that the 10 digit numbering scheme is anyday better than a 8 digit numbering scheme. simply becoz it doesn't require STD codes and stuff... u simply need to dial "0" and get connected. Its easier. The only glitch i find is that how do i differentiate the Fixed Line nos. of reliance from these now??? Or are Reliance Fixed Wireless Phones considered Landlines or not??
